It is never easy to say goodbye to our beloved horses. Rosie was rescued from St. Jacobs Horse Auction where she was going to be purchased and slaughtered for meat. From the moment we met Rosie, we could immediately tell that she lived in fear, a result of her being neglected and abused. Rosie was overworked and her terrified personality showed that she never experienced a gentle hand to touch her. To all of us, Rosie will always be remembered as a resilient girl. After many years, she began to trust her life in our hands. It did not come easy, but slowly she began to enjoy the company of her people, felt at peace in her safe home and no longer lived in fear. From a horse that never wanted to be touched, she allowed her people to show her love. We are thankful for the lessons she taught us and the unforgettable years we spent together. Okay okay before you say it, I know, I’m missing Australia... and a few other continents 🙈😅 BUT I was just SO stoked to post about this!! I started this project one year ago for #PlasticFreeJuly when I wanted to reduce & track my plastic consumption. During my journey, I started bringing my own reusables, buying in bulk, tried to find alternatives to single use products like: shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc. But something I started to notice was HOW much unnecessary plastics we use. From the tiny plastic bread bag ties to the sneaky produce stickers! Why haven’t we come up with a working solution for this yet!? So over the last year, I’ve been saving all my produce stickers and used them to create this art piece. Yes I know, I’m basically a modern day Picasso at this point 😆💁🏼‍♀️. We upcycled this wood we found in the ally, cut it in a circle, and used a projector to outline the earth. Then my roomies and I started filling in the countries one by one. I’m posting this because A: I’m so dang proud and B: I hope it inspires you to upcycle things in your day to day life. Give objects a second life, make a bold art piece, or simply reuse again and again. ♻️🤗. My love letter to Maui made the cover of the October issue of @travelandleisure. The ocean drew me to Maui but it was the island’s upcountry that captured my heart and imagination. Under the tutelage of photographic guide Kevin & co-guide @rlchamphotography . We will guide you to the best spots where youll be able to capture a wide range of amazing images. The Fell Pony has played an active role in our recorded history, being recognized as a breed since Roman Times. Continuing through our history as an ideal mode of transport as fast walking pack ponies and strong enough to haul heavy coal carts at the mines and railway yards well into the 20th century. After a reduction in numbers in the 1950s and 60s the Fell has had a renewed interest. Nothing brings more comfort in a time of grief than old photos and a pup 🎞🐶 This week I was able to visit with and say my last goodbye to my grandmother, Buh. She was known as Martha Jean to some, but to family and childhood friends, she was our Buh. She was the first person I called after my first skydive🪂, the one who could get me to eat vegetables as a kid, the one who remembered my dog’s name and every grandchild and great grandchild’s birthday even when memory loss began. She was a world traveler, a cancer fighter, card game expert, the best cook, and so much more. She loved her family, Jesus, talking on the phone, and sharing her love of food. But most of all she taught me strength, courage, and resiliency. She was one in a million and will be missed for years to come. I wanted to thank everyone for your kind words and support after my mini mental breakdown yesterday😅 I knew what I was getting myself into the moment I decided to keep Amadeus and that I was going to be the one to finally not give up on him and let him have a voice and tell his story. He has been through so many people and jerked around like a piece of meat that now I am left to put the pieces back together and build him up from scratch. I’m no magic horse whisperer and I don’t even think those exist what I do know is that my heart and my intentions are pure and I know he can feel that but he’s just so frustrated from his past and stuck to it that he chooses not to listen sometimes. He can be so amazing and cooperative one day and the next we don’t even recognize him because he looks like an evil demon but that’s just part of the journey! Traumatized horses are no easy thing but they are the ones who have the most to give.. we all have a past and baggage and I’m here to help him finally find peace and comfort no matter what it takes. He has never had a home and someone that took the time to understand him and now that he does he is rebelling all the past years of being mistreated. But some bad humans doesn’t mean we are all bad!! And I’m determined to show him that and get his full trust and partnership.. I’m lucky to be surrounded by amazing people helping us through this journey and be supported by so many including you guys so thanks to everyone and keep up with our wild journey!🧡🐎 - @wildheartamadeus on Instagram

Swipe for hell of a time 🤠 Sunday I was in a horse accident that resulted in a compound fracture in my L1 Vertebrae aka my lower back. Doctor said if you are going to break your back this is how you want to do it! No surgery and just time in this brace and I’ll be back to new, but in the meantime.. back brace but make it FASHION. I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has reached out. And an appreciation post to my family and especially @trevor.donovan.ricioli who has been nothing but my rock and support. I love you! @mandyroetingfotografie This photo was taken more recently, but it is also one of my favorites. It was taken at the Loonse & Drunense Duinen, near Tilburg, a city in the Netherlands. It looks like the horse is running through the heather, but this is not the case. He was walking on a dirt road (sandy path) between the heather plants, because we surely do not want to destroy them. When taking this photo, the light was very harsh. All because we were there quite early, well before the actual beautiful golden hour light. By using Photoshop and Lightroom I changed the harsh light to a more golden hour atmosphere.” Camera Settings: 1/2500 f/2.8 ISO 400 . .
