As a stylist my goal is to keep my techniques and styles up to date so you as a client can feel confident and beautiful walking out of my chair! That being said just since June of this year I’ve taken TWO continuing education classes! There is way more than one way of doing hair and the more you know the better! I’ve had the most unforgettable birthday! First of all, I was born 18 years ago, which means I’m a legal adult. To some people, that’s not a big deal, but I am so so proud of myself for making it this far. I basically have permission to do all that I’m already doing. Happy Birthday Carissa! I am the luckiest guy to have you as my best friend. I have the greatest wife ever and I could not be more blessed. Carissa has been mad that I haven’t really posted anything on here since we got married, so I’m going to try to make up for it now. (So this might turn into a bit of a novel) Just over a year ago I did the smartest thing I’ve ever done. I asked Carissa Jenkins to marry me. It was the easiest decision of my life. I went on my first date with Carissa a couple months after coming home from my mission. Guys, I knew from the beginning. I knew she was someone I could spend my life with. I felt like I had known her for a long time. I get so comfortable and she just made me laugh. I was hooked day one (Which stung when she friend zoned me after the 3rd date). After a few months I was able to persuade her to come hangout with me again, she came to her senses and gave me a second chance. We never looked back. On October 17, I was lucky to be sealed with Carissa for forever. Being her husband has been the greatest experience of my life. Carissa is literally my best friend. She is the funniest person I’ve met. She is the nicest person I have ever met. Those of you who have met her, you know how loving she is and how she just makes people feel good being around her. She is literally the better half. She makes me so happy. I feel like we are constantly just hanging out and laughing. When I get discouraged she always is there to comfort me. She kicks my butt into shape when I’m slacking off. I am so grateful! But it isn’t always easy. Sometimes we argue and get mad at each other. However, one thing that I love so much about Carissa is that she never stops trying. We will never give up on each other even when things are hard and we are being “just crazy monsters”. We keep improving and she inspires me every day to be better. I cannot wait for the rest of my life. Respect as a mother. A lot of women/moms see me as just a “young, immature mom” or a “22yr old first, but mom second” and I’ve even heard “wow, she must sleep around a lot”... Why is this a thing? I have no control over my age, and have no control over my body making 3 kids because... can I tell you something? With each of our kids, we WERE preventing. We took all the steps possible but God had other plans and I’m glad he did. IUD pregnancy? Yep, that’s Beau and it was scary. I should not feel guilt because of my age and the amount of kids I have. Just like a first time mom who is 45 shouldn’t either. Our age as a mother doesn’t determine our abilities as a mother just like an adult going back to college doesn’t make them any less capable of getting a degree. Instrument Rated! ✈️☁️. . So I basically got everything I could.. Private Pilot’s License, Commercial Single Engine Land, Commercial Single Engine Sea, Tailwheel endorsement, Aerobatic training, an F-35 slot with the Air Force and even Covid-19... before getting my IR 🙈. . I took my written almost two years ago, but flying cool things like Stearman and doing pilots n paws missions and putting everything I had into getting a pilot slot always took precedence. Well.. I finally ran out of excuses and DID THE THING. . I don’t think I’ve ever been more proud of achieving a rating. @matthewclarkpeterson and @ashlyntori can attest to watching me hibernate in my study corner for hours on end. SO many of you kept pushing and prodding me and asking me over the past two years if I had my instrument yet..so honestly I feel like we all got this rating together 😂. . I could thank so many people individually for taking the time to encourage me and answer my questions and send me materials and send me questions to answer.. you all know who you are ❤️. . And then there’s of course my amazing CFII @pilot_hendo .He knows how long, how hard and how stressed I was for this rating more than anyone and I couldn’t have done it without him. We’ve gone on so many flying adventures together.. and he’s been that one voice telling me to get my instrument for the past two years. We’ve had fun times in the plane, stressful times and definitely sassy times but I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor or friend. We’ve been through it all and he always believed I could and gave me the time and resources to help me be as prepared as I was for this checkride. So shout out to you man. Thanks for answering my random instrument questions at all hours of the night, for instilling in me the importance of memorizing regs and for letting me take my foggles off when the f-35s flew by 😂🙈 we had a goal and we freaking crushed it and I’m forever grateful to you 🤙🏼✈️. . why your healthy lifestyle isnt over if you eat something you dont normally indulge in? when you eat something that you dont normally eat or eat a more excessive amount of something than usual your journey isnt over youre not going to gain all your weight back, your mentality and strength that you built up working out and eating intuitively will not go away. yesterday was a rainy day and I decided to watch a movie and just chill out during that time I noticed myself eating excessive amounts of food that I normally wouldnt turn to for snack. later that day at 5:30 I had a @jabsbygina class I felt bloated, not only that I felt discouraged and not myself. I decided to still take the class and that it would be a way for me to let off some steam. Yesterday was #WhyIWorkOutWednesday @remix.to.nutrition @thenutritiousnorm I dont only workout to change the number on the scale, Or to burn off the calories I ate earlier in the day. I work out to feel the energy high and to make myself feel empowering and strong. I was always told that if you love what you do, then you’ll never work a day in your life. Well, work is definitely a love/hate relationship. I absolutely love the skills I’ve learned, the people I work with, and even the patients I see. But it’s not easy. || I’ve gotten a lot of questions about what it’s like being a Respiratory Therapist. I’ll be honest, It’s not what you’d expect. It’s not all about breathing treatments and albuterol in fact does not fix everything. || RT’s are found all around the hospital. My favorite areas are definitely the ICU and ER. This can change depending on the ER though. Give this girl a trauma or code 3 and I’m in my element. As for the ICU, you take on more of a problem solving role. Your patient is typically intubated so, what do we need to do as a team (MD, RN, RT, dietary, etc.) to get this patient extubated and back home. It’s your job to asses your patient to ensure it’s safe for them to breathe on their own. You are their advocate. || That’s just a small glimpse into my RT world. There is so much more to it. || One piece of advice, get yourself some cute scrubs! You guys, I’ve worn Barco since I was in school and there just isn’t anything like them. Next Door Brewing Company wins the award for the best cheese curd pull! 🌟 They switch things up by using Muenster cheese instead of the classic cheddar cheese for their curds so they have a high melting point that allows you to pull the cheese over 2 feet! 😍 They serve their cheesy curds with a creamy ranch dressing.
