AUTUNNO DI MOSTRE AGLI UFFIZI Il Ritratto di Papa Leone X con i due nipoti, capolavoro di Raffaello, dopo il restauro dell’Opificio delle Pietre Dure e l’esposizione proprio all’inizio della grande mostra organizzata alle Scuderie del Quirinale a Roma in occasione del cinquecentenario della morte di Raffaello, torna alla Galleria degli Uffizi. La mostra ne documenta il restauro e interpreta le analisi scientifiche del dipinto. Sono inoltre spiegate le indagini diagnostiche che hanno dimostrato che il capolavoro è tutto di mano di Raffaello. La mostra sul ruolo della donna nell’antichità romana che si articola in tre sezioni: gli exempla femminili negativi, i modelli positivi ed infine il ruolo pubblico concesso alle matrone. L’arco temporale preso in esame comprende un periodo ampiamente documentato, quello aureo del Principato, che va dall’ascesa di Augusto alla morte di Marco Aurelio. Le opere esposte sono sculture, epigrafi, gemme e disegni, in gran parte appartenenti alla collezione delle Gallerie degli Uffizi, e con prestiti da altre istituzioni.; Infine l capolavoro di Joseph Wright of Derby, “Esperimento su di un uccello inserito in una pompa pneumatica” (1768) viene per la prima volta presentato in Italia, grazie a un accordo di scambio con la National Gallery di Londra. Onze Russische koningin Anna Paulowna👸🇷🇺 ———— Dutch Historian(s), Chiel en Axel, komen beiden uit Noord-Holland. Op de middelbare school in Schagen, waar ze samen in de brugklas zaten, kwamen veel leerlingen uit het dorp Anna Paulowna. Elke dag moesten zij 13km in de ochtend en 13km in de middag fietsen om op de school in Schagen te komen. De naam van het dorp Anna Paulowna viel alleen een beetje uit de toon tussen de andere Noord-Hollandse dorpsnamen als Dirkshorn, Warmenhuizen, Winkel en ’t Zand. Wie was deze Anna Paulowna en waarom is er een dorp in de kop van Noord-Holland naar haar vernoemd? ———— Nadat Napoleon werd verslagen bij Waterloo in 1815 zocht de Russische Tsaar Alexander I een kandidaat om met zijn zusje Anna Paulowna te trouwen. De jonge Prins van Oranje had gevochten en was zelfs gewond geraakt bij Waterloo. Alexander zag deze Nederlandse prins wel zitten voor Anna. Het kwam hem tevens zeer goed uit een sterk koninkrijk ten noorden van Frankrijk als bondgenoot te krijgen. ———— Prins Willem trok met een delegatie en een stapel geschenken naar Sint-Petersburg, waar hij de 20-jarige grootvorstin Anna Paulowna eindelijk ontmoette. Op 21 februari 1816 stapten ze in het huwelijksbootje. Anna Paulowna was nu prinses van Oranje en de twee raakten ook nog gesteld op elkaar. Willem omschreef Anna als intelligent, oprecht en gevoelig. Uit het huwelijk van Willem en Anna werden vijf kinderen geboren, waaronder de latere koning Willem III. ———— Toen Willem I in 1840 afstand van de troon deed werd Anna Koningin der Nederlanden. Ze werd omschreven als een niet zo knappe, maar zeer majesteitelijke koningin met een beschaafde stem en ogen met veel uitdrukking. De periode duurde maar negen jaar, want in 1849 overleed Willem II aan een harstilstand. Anna trok zich terug uit het openbare leven, maar bleef wel in Nederland wonen. Anna Paulowna overleed op 70-jarige leeftijd op 1 maart 1865 in Den Haag. ———— De in 1846 drooggelegde polder werd vernoemd naar de koningin en daarmee ook het daargelegen dorp. Last selfportrait, always a mystery For a long time, this painting was the only self-portrait of which it was established that Rembrandt had painted it in his year of death. In his face expression you can clearly see that also Rembrandt knew that his time was coming. The finish of this painting is minimal, and an obvious thought would be that the self-portrait was left unfinished with Rembrandt’s death. Lets go back to the early 15th century, where a certain 𝘌𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘺 was married twice. Her 1st husband 𝘚𝘪𝘳 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘛𝘺𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘺 and her had only one child, little girl, 𝘌𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘛𝘺𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘺. This stunning watercolour was painted by the French artist Eugène Lami. Dated 1866, the work is characteristic of Lami’s richly coloured aristocratic scenes. The figures wear late seventeenth-century costume, and the setting recalls (but does not depict) the Staircase of the Ambassadors at Versailles, built in the 1670s; the scene does not seem to represent a particular historical event. On this day 233 years ago, the United States Constitution was signed following four months of deliberation in the Assembly Room of the Pennsylvania State House, now known as Independence Hall. Of the 41 present delegates, 38 signed the document (and one signed on behalf of an absent delegate). The Constitution was signed by representatives from twelve of the thirteen original colonies — Rhode Island did not send delegates to the convention. On the day of the signing, Pennsylvania delegate James Wilson delivered a rousing speech on behalf of eighty-one-year-old Benjamin Franklin, urging the delegates to support the new Constitution despite the impossibility of devising a perfect system of government. Although the Constitution was signed on this date, it did not become legally binding until it was ratified by nine of the original thirteen states. New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify on June 21, 1788. Elections were held that fall and the new government under the Constitution officially began on March 4, 1789. The Constitution predates the Residence Act of 1790, which established a federal district near the Potomac River as the location for the new national capital and, eventually, the President’s House. Only one of the original signers of the Constitution later became a resident of the White House.
