The lady argued that we can and I argued no, we cant. I argued you have no control over what just pops in your head but rather what you do when they do pop in.- - Heres my thinking and Id love to know yours!- - Its like a song that pops in your head. You didnt even think about it, but it came. Now you cant get it out. Yes you can. Start consciously singing a different catchy song in your head and I can almost guarantee you cant keep thinking/singing the previous one. This is my thought on this. You can do something. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones. But your not in control of what just randomly pops in. She was adamant that you could.- - She is in sobriety like me, though new to it. She said she didnt think about drinking anymore. Ok, neither do I.... in general. But a random thought still pops in from time to time. I have tools to deal with it, but I couldnt just stop it from popping in. She seemed to not realize that she stopped thinking about it, because shes broken the cycle of the addiction and her body and mind are reacting accordingly. I have yet to meet an addict that a random thought does not pop in every blue moon.- - So do you agree, were not in control of what pops in our head or we are? I argue that we are not but we control our overall mindset and attitude that diminishes those thoughts from occurring. We just cant stop them from randomly popping in. The Oracle of Delphis prophecies were no small matter to the Greeks. The accuracy of her prophecies was enough to ensure that the ancient Greeks would never make an important decision without consulting the Oracle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One of the most famous consultations of the oracle was by Croesus, the incredibly rich ruler from Kingdom of Lydia. He tested six of the most prestigious oracles by sending envoys to ask each of them what he would be doing on an appointed day. Only the Pythia was able to deliver the correct answer: she responded that Croesus was boiling a lamb with a tortoise in a brass vessel. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thereafter, the king sent lavish gifts along with his real burning questions: whether he should wage a war with the Persian king at the time, Cyrus the Great. It was expected that the Jews come into the city through that gate and pay their respect to the statue as their Lord and Master. After all, the Romans occupied the territory at that time, and also ruled over the Jews. The Jews avoided that gate like the plague, because they would have not been able to keep the commandment: Thou shall not worship other Idols.. The Christians did not have this problem. Christianity really was promoted in Greece and spread from there. Remember that the world as it was known AT THAT TIME, was mainly ruled by Julius Caesar, and anything that was Roman was also in fashion. That is why the ANNO DOMINI was simply transferred to the God of the Christians by the Christians of that time as THEIR Lord. Now, B.C. stands for any year BEFORE CAESAR. This is to say the Romans could not care less what came BEFORE CAESAR, and remember, the Romans ruled!  Again, Christianity saw this as a golden opportunity to make this one of their own significance, by simply changing it to Before Christ. Richard Sackville, the 3rd Earl of Dorset, was born in 1589. His marriage to Lady Anne Clifford age 19, was a strategic move instigated by Richard’s grandfather. Anne was the heir to one of the wealthiest families in the north of England and her dowry of £15,000 went to Richard. Richard was a man with expensive tastes and a social standing to maintain. He spent lavishly on clothes, mistresses and gambling and was a close friend of the Prince of Wales. On his death age 34, he left huge debts and had spent most of the Knole fortune. His portrait, attributed to William Larkin, in the Ballroom at Knole was the inspiration to artist, Denise Watson, behind the Fashioned from Paper exhibition. The paper sculpture of Richard is dressed in a standing collar, cloak, jacket and breeches with gold, ribbon and lace trim, tights and pantofle shoes with gold rosettes. Tales From the Infinite Staircase (1998) was one of the final products released for Planescape, back in the waning days of 2nd edition. Its a pretty ambitious undertaking and is often viewed as some of the best of what the Planescape line had to offer. The setup: eight mid-sized adventures designed to be played in any order but the outcome of each scenario effects the scenarios that follow. As an anthology it offers up a variety of unique regions to explore, as is appropriate for any Planescape game, any of which can be used as straight one-shots if desired. Individually theyre all solid adventures with a bare minimum of stats... look elsewhere for hack n slash. As if eight interactive, non-linear scenarios isnt enough, Tales is also designed to tie-in with the Forgotten Realms adventure For Duty and Deity. In fact, either adventure can be used as a subplot for the other. Crazy good design work that Monte manages to pull off without a hitch. As a tail-ender the print run was a little shorter, making these somewhat hard to find... prices have been steadily increasing for some time. This is a good time to talk about PODs. A LOT of reprints are turning up on eBay where sellers bury information in the description or try to make them sound like some sort of special edition. Le reliquie della Santa furono trafugate a Costantinopoli nel 1040 dal generale bizantino Giorgio Maniace. Nel 1126 due soldati (forse francesi), Giliberto e Goselino, le rapirono per consegnarle al Vescovo Maurizio nel Castello di Aci. Era il 17 agosto 1126, il popolo catanese, svegliato durante la notte da uno scampanio a festa, non perse tempo a cambiarsi d’abito e si riversò in strada così come si trovava, anche a piedi nudi e in camicia da notte, (l’origine del “sacco” che rappresenta il camice bianco da notte con il quale i cittadini si riversarono per le strade per accogliere prima possibile le reliquie finalmente recuperate). Lo storico incontro dei catanesi con le spoglie di Sant’Agata avvenne nel quartiere di Ognina, dove in seguito fu eretta una chiesa che nel 1381 la lava circondo senza distruggere, ma che più recentemente fu abbandonata e infine lasciata andare in rovina. Il 17 agosto 1126, le reliquie rientrarono nel Duomo di Catania. Happy feast of Padre Pio! For the majority of my life, I had no devotion to him. I couldn’t understand the hype behind him. Well, in 2017, Padre Pio came into my life in a very real and special way and I’ve been close with him since! Padre Pio was a priest in Italy who died in 1968. He was known around the world as a miracle worker - he bore the stigmata (the wounds of Jesus), was known to bilocate (be in two places at once), had the gift of prophecy, healing, and reading souls, was assaulted by Satan, witnessed visions, and more. Pio is one of the most incredible Saints of the Catholic Church and one of the most powerful before the throne of God. If you haven’t asked for his intercession, why don’t you do it today?
