6 months ago today was the very last time I entered a gym. ⁣ ⁣ The last time I trained a client in person, or touched a barbell, or lifted a weight above 35 lbs.⁣ ⁣ I thought I’d be home for two weeks. Maybe three, four tops. It wasn’t ideal, but for a few weeks, we could make it work! My clients agreed to train virtually. I was unsure how it would go. ⁣ ⁣ And here were are. 6 months have passed. I didn’t go back after two weeks, or even two months. I’m never “going back”- because certain things won’t ever quite be the same.⁣ ⁣ But here’s what has happened: The challenges of switching to virtual training have helped me grow into the trainer I am right now. A trainer who is adaptable, resilient, creative, flexible. My clients have been open minded, open hearted, and trusting. We joke about how normal it now is to exercise together through a screen- in fact, isn’t it weird that it ever felt weird? I’ve watched as their mentality towards exercise has shifted- it’s no longer something they do out of pure obligation, but because it feels important to our daily well being in a way it didn’t before. ⁣ ⁣ Some of my clients have almost no equipment. Personally, I have very little- some bands and a set of a adjustable dumbbells.⁣ ⁣ There are weeks when I don’t want to exercise. And that’s okay. I remind myself, I remind my clients: we’re still in a pandemic. This shit isn’t easy. All we can do is continue to show up for ourselves, because time for US is more important than ever- but so is giving ourselves grace and having appreciation for our bodies while treating them with kindness. We survived the last 6 months. This is not some linear journey. * I use to believe that if only I could reach my goal I would then be able to say “yes..made it” * I’ve gone through so many phases in my journey. Working out so I can eat whatever, powerlifting meets,bikini competition preps, crossfit comps, large commercial gyms, school gyms, now our own. I’ve wanted to lift heavier, to get leaner, be bigger, run faster, look like that celebrity and so on.. and nothing about it has been perfect. I never felt that “I made it” * What I learned and my point Growth is not easy, you’ll reach one goal to continue on to the next. The biggest road blocks I see people struggle with while trying to stay committed to a healthy/active lifestyle are: 1. Thinking of “getting in shape” as a short term goal vs. long term investment. 2. Going “on a diet” vs. simply “having a planned diet” and adopting healthy and sustainable ways of eating long term. 3. Cutting out “cheat foods” completely vs. learning how to incorporate them in a balanced way. (You don’t have to give up your favorite foods - I promise! 4. Thinking of exercise as something they HAVE to do vs. appreciating their body and seeing it as something they GET to do. (There is a way for everyone to incorporate movement in a way they enjoy. 5. Not addressing or facing deep rooted issues that could potentially be driving unhealthy habits. (A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body) If you can see the common theme here, I believe the main reason people fail is because they are not going executing personalized healthy habit changes that ultimately become their lifestyle. We have to change our thinking from “I need to lose XXX amount of weight as quickly as possible and I’ll be happy” to “How can I make strategic tweaks to my current habits that over time will result in a healthy body and mind. I will be posting much more on these topics as strategic habit changing and ways to incorporate healthy lifestyle choices is something I am extremely passionate about helping others achieve. GUYs I went to the GYM today!!!! I found what I would call a bodybuilders gym. Turns out it’s right by my house and they are OPEN! It had so many fun machines and equipment also they actually fit my stub short legs 🤪, such a cool vibe, friendly members, the owner was so welcoming, and I didn’t even wear headphones the music and vibe was exactly what I have been missing these 9 weeks! Mobility Monday! 🥳🥳 Hip & low back Mobility Session! Holy cow, yesterday I was stiff as all get out and this morning was no different. I did not want to workout, but I knew it would loosen things up! So, I started with this Mobility warm up and then finished with it! If you’re going to do this or save this, let me know! That’s the only way I know what is helping y’all! 3-5 Rounds: 1. Bench hip flexor & anterior oblique sling - tuck hips under, move your body close to bench, reach up and to Opposite side. Last keep hips tucked and lean forward. 2. 6 times/side: Hamstring bent leg, hamstring straight leg. -hit the different areas of the hamstring by changing if the leg is bent or straight. 3. 20 total: Groin Side-to-Side -stick the booty out, keep doing neutral, glide side-to-side 4. 14 total sweepers -lean away from the leg that’s straight. I feel soooo much better after moving! GLUTE FOCUSED SUNDAY LEG DAY - GIVE IT A SAVE!!!⬇️⬇️ I was aching so much after doing a water obstacle course so we decided to change things up a little: 1️⃣ sumo squats @ 90kg 4 x 6-8 (absolutely loved these but lowered the weight to familiarise myself with the movement again) 2️⃣ hip thrusts @ 200kg 3 x 10 3️⃣ good mornings @ 40kg 3 x 10-12 (killed my posterior entirely and one of the most underrated posterior development exercises IMO) 4️⃣ kettlebell swings @ 28kg 3 x 15 -very explosive movement as you can tell from the crazy hair and you won’t look pretty doing these so just go for it😂 5️⃣ DB reverse lunge @ 20kg per hand 3 x 8 per leg 6️⃣ banded abduction squats x 50 to finish After thinking I’d have a crap leg day because I wasn’t feeling 100%, it ended up being a very good one👏🏼👏🏼 Give it a save and try it for your next leg day 🥵🥵 - @bootyby_el on Instagram

Slacking on the posting , I’ve made a complete switch in my routine and am embarking on a journey that I never thought I would be a part of. About 5 weeks ago I started doing my research about this “keto” subject . The only person you have true control over is YOURSELF (trust me, I try to control my kids and that’s a joke on most days 😂🤦🏼‍♀️). So you have to 🛑 trying to compare your journey/results to someone else and spend your energy on things you have control over. You need to remember:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (1) Their journey is theirs and you have no clue what hurdles they’ve had to overcome on their own to reach the point they are at now. While on the outside it may seem like things came “easier” to them, they likely didn’t. So don’t be envious of their path because it may not be one you wanted to walk. @_nikita I feel so ACCOMPLISHED after my photoshoots. My comp was cancelled but I never gave up on the goals I had in sight. Everything I do in life serves a purpose. Building a strong back. You don’t need 100’s of exercises you just need to execute the basics really well. The lat pulldown can be used with different handles to work the lats in different ways 1. Close grip with supinated hand position ( palms facing you) 2. Wide pronated grip (hands over the bar) 3. Neutral grip (palms facing each other) 4. Neutral grip - Open grip handle less wrist movement with this one. The closer your hands are to the body the more upper lats are recruited and mid/upper back. The wider you take the hands the more lower lat. Programming you don’t need to change the exercise you just need to change the grip to continue to work lats. Also changing grips helps build strength in other muscles like the forearms & biceps and avoid over working those smaller muscles in the same position. Bring control and intent to the movement. The PREP is done 💯❤️ Now I‘m waiting for Friday to step on the platform. . Was für ein gutes Gefühl es doch ist, wenn die Wettkampfvorbereitung abgeschlossen ist. Zumindestens trainingstechnisch und seit heute Morgen auch was das Cardiotraining angeht. Jetzt fällt schon mal ein Stück weit der Druck ab, die Erleichterung macht sich breit und zugleich steigt jeden Tag die Vorfreude mehr! 🙂 Es kommt alles so wie es kommt. Man hat immer sein Bestes gegeben und durchläuft Höhen und Tiefen. Die Tagesform entscheidet letztendlich über meine Performance. Und der Wille.. Ich freue mich einfach nun sehr auf Freitag, aber auch riesig auf Donnerstag wenn ich mittags die Waage hinter mir habe. Der Einwaagetag ist quasi mein Tag X - danach läuft es schon dank unzähliger Kalorien 🙊 Bin mal gespannt wieviele mir wieder schreiben werden und sagen wie ungesund es wäre „so viel“ zu essen. Ihr könnt direkt wieder von meiner Seite verschwinden 😃 Zugleich ist es leider auch der traurigste Ladetag ever, weil Nico nicht mitessen kann, da er einen Tag später erst dran ist. . Wie war mein gestriges letztes Training? Nicht berauschend, deswegen sind die Videos auch kein Posting wert haha. Aber das schiebe ich alles mal auf meine nicht vorhandene Regeneration. Wer seit 7 Tagen daily 85-100min Cardio addet, der kann nichts Großes erwarten 🌚 Das Training zeigte mir dennoch, dass ich beim DL Opener niedriger einsteigen werde. Ob mit belt oder ohne weiß ich immer noch nicht.. Ich plane allgemein für die Erstversuche: 215kg / 105kg / 210kg. . Transition poses are just as important as the actual poses! Yes they are held for a shorter time, and it may not be something you intentionally take a picture of.. but it SHOULD be photogenic. As of this month, March 2018, it has officially been 6 years into my fitness journey 💪🏼😊. . Left: 112 lb ➡️ Right: 132 lb. . The left picture was taken about 7 months after I started my journey, initially losing a ton of body fat. The right picture shows the progress in building muscle and overall change my body has done over the past 6 years. . As I reminisce, I have to admit that over this time I have fluctuated in weight, taken weeks off, and lost motivation, but have also done 2-a-days, counted every gram of food that went into my body, and wouldn’t let anything get in the way of getting as fit as I can. . The most important thing I have learned in my personal experience is that moderation is key. I like to be strict on myself and get crazy results; but I also like to enjoy life, take a break from measuring food and skip cardio if I want. “I don’t have the motivation” is something I hear a lot from people when they talk about not being able to accomplish what they want. We often think of motivation as something we either have or don’t have and we tend to leave it at that. How can we actually create sustainable motivation for doing things we don’t enjoy doing but are crucial in reaching our desired goals? I recently learned about this practical recipe for motivation and I thought I’d share ☺️🤗. Motivation = purpose x energy x small simple steps 1. Finding your purpose, your “why”, the true meaning for doing something you want to do and remembering this every time you face a struggle. 2. Even with true purpose it can be hard to do things if we are fatigued or tired. Lack of energy (psychological or physical) can be a result of many things. Sleep, proper diet and hydration, mindset, clean environment, support system, stress management, time management, and exercise can all have an impact on our energy. Identifying the problem area and working on fixing it to improve our energy. 3. Implementing small simple steps is always a great way to start in order to not feel overwhelmed. WASSEREINLAGERUNGEN Hier könnte nun ein sinnvoller Text darüber stehen, wieso man Wassereinlagerungen bekommt und wie man den Wasserhaushalt gerade als Frau wieder in den Griff bekommt. Die informativen Texte überlasse ich an diese Stelle lieber denen, die mehr Ahnung über den Körper und seine Funktionen haben. Stattdesse geht es mir um einen ganz anderen Aspekt:Das Wohlbefinden und die Auswirkungen auf den Alltag. Vorletzte Woche gab es meinen Formcheck in der Story, in der ich die Realität zeigte, wie ich mich GEFÜHLT habe. Wie ich Wasserbüffel und das war nicht primär auf das Optische bezogen (was natürlich absolut ätzend und unumgänglich ist). Was bedeutet es für mich Wasser einzulagern? Die Antwort: Irgentetwas in meinem Körper stimmt nicht, mein Wohlfinden sinkt stark und ich habe schmerzen in die Beinen und Füßen, sodass Beintraining und Cardio nur unter gestressten und schmerzhaften Bedingungen möglich ist. Ich passe werder in meine Hosen, noch kann ich einen Spaziergang ohne Einschränkungen machen. Ich bin keine Frau die in der Regel Wasser einlagert. Fakt: Die Planänderung in der Ernährung in Kombination mit dem schwunghaften Wetter lies mich ganze 3kg speichern. Natürlich wurde in Absprache mit dem Coach der Plan geändert und ich nahm mehr Flüssigkeit zu mir= Schwup war das Wasser pünktlich zum letzten Formcheck draußen. Es ist nunmalnicht angenehm damit den Alltag zu bestreiten. Da hilft es auch nicht, wenn man zeigt wie man sich fühlt, mit Komplimenten überhäuft zu werden. ICH weis wie ich eine Woche davor aussah, ICH weis woran es liegt, ICH kann objektiv auf mich schauen und weis das es Wasser ist, und ICH stecke in der Situation und FÜHLE mich beschissen. So shredded ich nach außen WIRKE, so sehe ich nun mal einen tick anders aus. Und das kann auch nur von mir oder meinem Coach beurteilt werden. Ich vergleiche nicht Athletin XY mit mir sondern Mich vor einer Woche, dafür sind die Formchecks da- um Fort-/Rückschritte oder Veränderungen zu dokumentieren. Vergleicht eure Veränderungen und nicht mit Athlet XY-Jeder ist individuell, jeder ist anderes, jeder Stoffwechsel und jeder Körper funktioniert völlig unterschiedlich. Steph was a very experienced amateur competitor who came to me with the goal to turn Pro after an unsuccessful venture from her previous coach competing at the Amateur Olympia. As you all know we achieved that goal of earning a Pro Card at the Amateur Olympia in Japan in just a very short three week period. ⁣ ⁣ This year we had a goal to improve all of her weaker body parts as well as to get her metabolism functioning at the highest point imaginable. Bringing down the booty?! 🍑😫 *gasp*⁣ ⁣ I love the off season booty and curves as much as everyone else 😍🙌🏼 (thiccc szn forever amiright?!) BUT, when it comes time for show day, bringing a conditioned backside is SUPER important. ⁣ ⁣ So instead of being the ‘typical fitspo’ and giving y’all ways to grow the booty, I’m gonna share how I lean mine out 👏🏼 ⁣ ⁣ 🍑 Be in a caloric deficit - it’s just science guys... to burn fat, you have to be in a deficit. Personally, my body responds best to a low carb diet. Sometimes dropping just 10-20g of carbs makes a huge difference for me! ⁣ ⚔️ Cardio - Stairmaster is great, but I also love incline walking/sprints and HIIT style circuit training with exercises like box jumps, kettlebell swings, ball slams, etc. If you’ve always stuck with the stairmaster, it might be time to mix it up!⁣ 🍑 Water - Not only drinking enough water to be hydrated, but being consistent about water intake!
