5 THINGS NANNYING HAS REINFORCED TO ME 🌸To trust your body around food- it will tell you when it’s hungry and when to stop: If the kids are thinking about food or are still physically hungry, they will simply pipe up ‘I’m hungry’ or Im not done and then we’ll go eat! It’s as simple as that. No guilt and no shame- their body wants food and they respond accordingly! 🌸The body and brain thrives off consistency: When I look after the kids we always have 3 meals and at least 2 snacks in-between (morning and afternoon). Their bodies and brains need the constant fuel to keep active and energised- so do we! 🌸There are much more exciting things to live for than food: Whilst the kids love their food and have their favourites- meals are definitely not the highlight of their day. When you are undernourished your brain will likely put food on a pedestal as it’s in survival mode. This is not truly living and life has so many more exciting things to offer us like reading books and exploring outdoors! 🌸We are not born with insecurities: Whenever the kids have a bath, they play and splash around showing me their full little tummies without any insecurity. They are beautifully unashamed of their bodies and have taught me to be more accepting of my own.  🌸Eating environments don’t have to be perfect or 100% food-focused: I’ll eat my lunch with the kids at the table whilst simultaneously reading them a story. Other times I’ll be midway through shoving a snack in when one of them will call for me in another room. Or maybe I’ll have food in one hand and a baby in the other. It is totally ok to eat when it’s not super convenient and your attention is elsewhere! Came across this recently and thought it was well worth sharing. All moms are working moms, and right now it seems there are more balls to juggle than usual. ⁣ ⁣ Personally, I create hilariously optimistic to-do lists at the beginning of most weeks. Each fresh week feels full of possibility, and theres so much I want to experience and accomplish. ⁣ ⁣ But as the end of the week rolls around, I am ruthless about dropping things off it in order to keep my glass balls in the air. Some of my glass balls are purposeful connection with each family member while doing something we enjoy together, rest time doing something I enjoy, nourishing meals and good sleep.⁣ ⁣ School? Plastic. We stay on track most weeks but not always!⁣ ⁣ Clean house? Plastic.
