Se potessi tornare indietro al 1° mese con mio figlio mi darei una pacca sulla spalla e mi direi che è tutto ok. 😉 Va bene piangere, sentirsi sopraffatte dalla paura e dalla stanchezza. Va bene anche non sentirsi subito felici. Diventare mamma non è roba da poco. E’ dura, ammazza se è dura. 😬 Da un momento all’altro non sei più tu, sei una versione di te stessa che non ti assomiglia affatto e riconoscersi in quei nuovi panni può volerci mesi, anni, a volte non ci si riconosce mai più. No, diventare mamma non è roba da poco. 😪 All’improvviso il tempo non è più scandito dalle ore e dai minuti, ma dalle poppate. Ho imparato a pazientare, a star seduta ore e ore con Adri attaccato aspettando che finisse di mangiare e poi che si svegliasse e poi che facesse il ruttino e poi nuovamente che si addormentasse e così via in un ciclo di attesa lento e infinito. E nel frattempo però la vita degli altri va avanti, più veloce della tua, e ti senti arrancare desiderosa di tornare a quei ritmi. ⏳ 💡E allora l’unica cosa che puoi fare è ACCETTARE che tutto ciò che conosci da ora in poi sarà diverso. Il modo in cui mangi è diverso, il modo in cui ti alzi dal letto, ti lavi i denti, esci di casa, stai fra la gente è diverso. Accettare che sarai spesso (se non sempre) in ritardo, e che probabilmente hai la maglietta sporca che puzza di vomitino e non te ne sei neanche accorta. Accettare che NON DORMIRAI MAI PIU’ COME PRIMA, (sì, anche se tuo figlio è un dormiglione!). Non ci riuscirai, perché sarai sempre e per sempre vigile e in grado di percepire anche il minimo vagito. Marking the close of #worldbreastfeedingweek with our own 16 months story of breastfeeding! Every mothers journey with breastfeeding is unique and personal, and I salute you all, dear mamas! Whether you have exclusively pumped, exclusively latched, supplement with formula, donated or received breast milk, have breastfed for a day, week, month or year, cannot or prefer not to breastfed; know that you are exactly what your baby needs, and your strength and love are boundless. To be honest, pre-pregnancy I always thought I would not be able to breastfeed well due to my flat-chestedness. Little did we know, the size of your chest has no correlation to the number of milk ducts in your breast, and @misterhenryc and I never imagined that we would still be exclusively breastfeeding and latching our little boob-addicted cherub to sleep at this stage. Our journey with breastfeeding in the initial weeks included a tongue tie (see heart shaped tongue) which we considered surgery for (but never went ahead with), fumbling with nipple shields, watching our 7-day old baby in the NICU for 4 days on the IV drip because she was dehydrated, syringe feeding, rock hard boobs, having a doula, a jamu lady and @misterhenryc help with massages, and literally just breastfeeding everywhere and anywhere. For us, direct latching was actually what Izzy preferred despite 3 weeks of bottle feeding, and this worked in our favour. In her first year, we took her everywhere with us including meetings and four international trips around the world, including across oceans to Los Angeles and Atlanta. Out of all the random places the urge to nurse happened, the most memorable must have been latching during a walking tour in Tokyos red light district. I can not say for sure when we will stop. The initial plan was to breastfeed for at least 6 months. When we got to half a year and Izzy showed no signs of weaning, the goal post moved to a year. Now, the love for the boob is still so strong that when I try to gently wean her from her favourite thing(s) in the world, her tearful cries break my heart and she usually gets a nice suckle as I stroke her hair and cuddle her. I think we are going to need some replacement wheels for this stroller soon. Since we got home from the hospital (33 days ago), Finn and I have put 1️⃣1️⃣5️⃣miles on this stroller 😳 that’s an average of 3.5 miles a day! I knew that I wasn’t going to be allowed to workout for 6 weeks while recovering from my c-section, but walking was okay. I started out slow obviously, and have worked up to 5 miles on some days. Walking outside is good for the body and the soul! Oh and Finn LOVES napping in her stroller, so there’s that too! Only one more week before I go back to the doctor to hopefully be released back to the gym! 😬 And despite what some people thought, I have been 100% compliant on the not working out. Even after next Monday, Finn and I are still going to stay active and keep up our walks! I hope to be an example for my daughter to stay fit, active, and healthy. I find this age the hardest. Newborn stage is tiring, but this is so demanding. ⠀ ⠀ It’s learning new things, and sooking when their not achieved. ⠀ It’s crying to be picked up and then crying to be put back down. ⠀ It’s teething and pain he doesn’t understand. ⠀ It’s crawling into the kitchen and slamming fingers in drawers 5 times, and being carried back out 6. ⠀ It’s long nights, somehow making his way into my bed every night. ⠀ It’s mum I need you.. All. The. Time. ⠀ It’s the time where I’m most stressed, trying my hardest to make him happy. ⠀ It’s feeling like I can never win, like nothing I’m doing is right. ⠀ ⠀ I wish I was in a better mood to enjoy this time, but the feelings of the day before stay with me overnight. It makes me moody and every little thing aggravates me. I just feel so frustrated.⠀ ⠀ I know this age is where I struggle the most as a mother, where I constantly question myself. Where I just need 5 damn minutes to take a breather. ⠀ ⠀ But I also know this is the second time I’ve gone through this age and the second time I’ve had these feelings and I won’t suffer in silence this time. ⠀ ⠀ Because having these feelings is normal. Sometimes, it means that I get rid of all the distractions at work so I can get stuff done and have the freedom to spend time with my family in the evenings. It used to look like me getting up early or staying up late and work on the weekends to build my business.. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This looks different in every season. But, the overarching theme is INTENTION. Whatever youre doing, even if you dont love it in the moment, do it with intention. Make a game plan. I once again have an incarcerated uterus like I did with Nat, and it’s just as scary as it was the first time. 😞 I definitely need all the prayers right now that my body rectifies this on its own, because the alternatives are pretty grim. I am over here trying to keep the faith, but man having to deal with this on top of distance learning with Baylee, chasing Natalie around, and keeping a clean house is just more than this mama can handle. Hier ist er also... September, der Monat in dem unsere zwei Kinder das Licht der Welt erblicken werden. Diese Schwangerschaft ist eine unglaublich emotionale Reise, die sich nun dem Ende neigt. Wie ein Film zog sie an mir vorbei, der Moment in dem ich erfahren habe, dass wir Zwillinge erwarten. Wie wir erfahren haben, dass wir ein Pärchen bekommen. Das erste Mal die zwei Herzchen schlagen hören... Wie der Bauch so schnell gewachsen ist. Wie unser Sohn meinen Bauch gestreichelt hat. Die ersten Tritte die immer heftiger wurden und die Augen meines Freundes und meines Sohnes, die gestrahlt haben während den Bewegungen. Das Nächste wird der erste Schrei sein von unserer Tochter und unserem Sohn. Diese Momente sind für die Ewigkeit und ich bin Gott so unendlich dankbar für alles... Как все успеть? А надо, да? 😏 ⠀ По - моему ничего нельзя успеть, не знаю как у вас, а у меня вечно появляются какие - то новые челленджи 😅 поэтому, самый крутой лайфхак тут - это жить в кайф, здесь и сейчас, а не как в белка в колесе. ⠀ Было время, я была настолько сумасшедшая, что убиралась зачем - то каждый день дома. ( делать нечего😂) и если вдруг я пропустила один день - все. Конец Света. Можно было плакать. Я вечно куда - то спешила, в итоге часто все было через одно место 😑 ⠀ Осознание пришло не сразу конечно, но все же пришло! ⠀ Сейчас каждый день продуктивен. Но я могу позволить себе отдохнуть в середине дня:) Я вечно в движении. Помимо работы, свои тренировки, тренировки детей, хобби. Но это все в ином формате. Вы понимаете о чем я ?) я не парюсь, если где - то, что - то идёт не совсем так. Ну почти 😅 ⠀ А самое главное ... Весь этот год я встаю по будням в 6 утра, а ложиться стараюсь до 10 вечера. I planned to take all these cute newborn photos every day, dressing her up all cute, cute pics with the girls etc etc. Instead here we are just enjoying being slobs together every day and soaking up each other’s awesomeness. This is our second photo taken together since she flew out of me, the first one being one Jerry snapped 30 seconds after I popped her onto my chest (both covered in blood) that he circulated to every friend and their dog in his contact list before I had the chance to say ‘wtf just happened’. 🙃☺️ Nonetheless we are soaking up these slow/screaming bb days .. much like indie soaking up that bowl of chips 😂 Maybe I’ll have energy tomorrow for photos, but probs not also. Day 260: Ode to you Strangers. This page is full of them. But we’re all connected. Intertwined by love. Something I never thought possible from people I didn’t know. Especially yesterday. Cabin fever setting in, a family outing it was. But fk me, it was hard. Given how isolated we’ve been, we definitely haven’t mastered this. Always leaving something behind that’s of importance. Milk even! Parents of the year! Fights definitely were had. We sat down for a drink, quick bite to eat & off for a walk. Easy right. But of course Luella wouldn’t sleep. One of us pacing trying to bop her to sleep, while the other ate one handed trying to control our dog sniffing for scraps. Then sharing rocking the pram, attempting a conversation we both know we’re not really listening to. Just flailing about trying to master parenthood. But for once I smiled inside. Is this how it feels? Is this what motherhood should feel like?Getting it all wrong but enjoying the process anyway? It felt SO good. And then this lovely woman sitting next to us, walked over, put her hand on Dave’s & offered to rock, while we enjoyed our lunch. There was something ethereal about her. Angelic almost. Naturally we got talking & shared Lulu’s story, finding common ground with her also sick Granddaughter. Lunch hoovered down, we said our gracious goodbyes & parted ways. But she came back. “I want to do something for you. I want to pray for Luella”. She said. And then she softly grabbed my hand & prayed out loud for my Little Love. The most beautiful prayer, her voice ever so slightly shaking. She pleaded for a healthy child for us. That Lulu be vindicated of this illness & a cure found. That she be healed. I grabbed her hand & she held mine tighter as I cried into her. And she just stayed there letting me shatter, tears pouring out of me, holding me while I shamelessly grieved for my daughter, in the arms of a compete stranger. Sometimes it’s a serendipitous encounter of kindness that can restore you. To that beautiful stranger, if you ever see this, I know you were sent to me for a reason yesterday, & I’m so glad you were there. The rainy season, it sure can be tricky for a photographer and disappointing for a family that envisioned a fair weather session. So what do we do? Of course, we can reschedule and wait for a better day, but that can prove tricky with everyone’s busy schedules. Or, we can change our original plan and go for a location like this. A spot that still offers pretty light but provides shelter from the rain. It might not be the vision that you had in mind to begin with, but sometimes changing things up can be fun. Birth is one difficult miracle, one I wanted to share. . Our little Micaiah was born during New Zealand’s four week lockdown due to Covid-19. We were mid renovation with tradies not able to complete the work due to the level 4 lockdown. Our lounge had rough concrete flooring, plastered walls, no heating with a birthing pool in the middle of this chaos. Not the relaxing space I had imagined 😅 . I had a show the night before during dinner. Then my first contraction at 5am on the 27th of April to have him arrive 24 hours later at 4:56am on the 28th. . Having him at home was always the birth plan from the day I saw those double lines on my pregnancy test ⏸. I had the support of my amazing husband, older sister, two dogs and two Midwife’s. Luckily @maddyirelandphoto lives with us and was able to capture these moments for us. . I had planned to catch my own baby in the pool but Micaiah wasn’t in the best position coming down and resulted in a stuck shoulder (shoulder dystocia). I ended up having to stand with one leg up on the edge of the pool to have his shoulder manually freed, ouch. . Birth is by far my most painful and challenging event to date. I’m told I sounded like a roaring stag, I couldn’t contain the primal state my body entered. We chose not to find out the sex of our baby and it was such a motivating factor to keep going, not to mention the best surprise when he finally arrived. . I’m so over the moon to have had a drug free vaginal birth. I know so many women plan for this but due to so many outside factors aren’t able to have their birth plan. About to enter my 8th month of pregnancy like 😀 Ooof the fatigue is REAL, but I still have energy that comes in waves so I’m grateful for that. The human body amazes me & I love witnessing it doing its thing. Counting the little victories in my daily routine has been the key to my motivation in this final stretch! 💫 Everyday looks different but here are some things that made today a winning day: I had some much needed quality time out in nature with my man after we dropped teeny off at school, managed to get a 35 min workout in, completed a few work assignments & responded to all my emails, washed and styled my hair (lol that’s legit a win ok!), & I also filmed this makeup look (swipe for a sneak peek). The highlight of my day was enjoying a home cooked meal (c/o my babe!) and having some amazing teeny time 😌 oh and finally getting some fall pumpkins from the grocery store ha! Ohhh breastfeeding. It’s incredible and it can also be really challenging. At least it was for me the second time around. From latching issues, to my son loving one side vs. another, making more milk, when to pump... EVERYTHING was different and I found myself asking a lot of questions. I had a look on the @peanut app to see if other moms were going through the same challenges...turns out they have a group especially for breastfeeding and I picked up so many helpful tips. There really is no other advice that compares to other moms who have been in exactly the same situation. I always believe that when women come together and share knowledge, we are so powerful. Die Jungs streiten sich darüber, wer die Kleine länger halten darf und Alinchen tut so, als wäre es nie anders gewesen 😅 Sie hilft fleißig beim wickeln, umziehen und will sie immer „behandeln“ 👩🏻⚕️ Vor Eifersucht war hier Gottseidank nicht mal 1 Sekunde die Rede ❤️ ⠀ Mir geht es auch super 🙏🏼 Ich bin allerdings sehr froh, dass ich mich doch für 3 Tage Krankenhausaufenthalt und nicht für eine ambulante Geburt entschieden habe. Denn nun ist mein Wochenbett leider, wie erwartet, so gut wie vorbei 😑(nicht nachmachen bitte 😒) Ich versuche zwar zwei Gänge zurückzuschalten und mich immer wieder zu erholen. Aber so richtig klappen tut das nicht 🙈 So ist das Leben in einer Großfamilie 🤪 Aber ich beschwere mich nicht. Since Kamron goes to school 5 days a week and doesn’t see his friends much I organized a little surprise for him. Booked @studioonedxb hotel for our weekend staycation with a brunch at @larte.dubai and invited his two besties, sons of @dineoutdubai and @ayaelfardy Brunch followed by a movie night at hotel’s private cinema sounded like a great plan for the boys day out✌🏼so I booked that too and boys totally loved the movie I chose. 9 months in VS. 9 months out! It’s crazy how time flies. In 9 months: I have had the best days and the hardest days, I’ve been down on myself for not loosing the baby weight (peep the side rolls still there!) but I always step back and realize that my body created this perfect little boy, he brings joy to everyone he meets and brightens my every day, happy 9 months Evy, I’m REALLY glad you’re not in my belly anymore 😂 - @alittlealeja on Instagram

We all go through things for a reason and when things happen to us repeatedly, there is usually purpose behind it. It’s when we can discover that purpose and harness the good in it that we have potential for making a difference. No matter how big or small. . . . Each of my births was so different. And yet four of them shared such an important similarity...my babies entered the world bum first. Thousands of you in #breechnation have experienced the same thing. Even more of you have experienced birth, period. Breech isn’t any scarier than head-down birth. Let’s be honest....whether vertex or breech it’s still pushing a human out of your hoohah or having one lifted out of your belly. It’s scary no matter what! . . . And on top of that, a mama doesn’t need professional care providers heaping more anxiety onto her plate. Many of them do though and usually it’s because they haven’t been educated in breech delivery. Their training was non-existent and so breech birth was grouped into that “emergency” category. Can’t blame people who haven’t learned yet. I have faith that this will shift over the next few years. I know more breech training has started already in grass-roots circles. A change is in the air. I’m honored to be part of that change. . . . Are you really ok? I know many days it feels like I must of walked under 13 ladders and tipped over the salt, on a black cat, whilst I smashed a mirror 😂Some mornings start with every toddler tantrum in the book, followed by Willow literally giving me a weeks worth of poonami’s in the one morning. 30 nappies, me sweating, Harper screaming whilst I tried to wipe the bum of what felt like a drunk octopus. Some days I just feel not enough and I can’t even imagine the people going through lockdown in a Victoria feel like right now 😞♥️ I remember before I had willow I would have these days and would get so down about not feeling adequate enough. Now I’ve come to realise “hey that’s just life, we win some, and we occasionally get neck deep in shit, whilst trying to negotiate what pink cup your toddler wants - like it’s dependant on world peace” but heck there’s always tomorrow 😂🥂 Just remember YOU ARE ENOUGH and some days are just shit and that’s ok. TIPS for surviving the 1st trimester when you’re chasing a tot: 1️⃣ Don’t beat yourself up! Accept that you will just NOT be an overachiever right now. The priority is your health and wellness and the needs of your growing family. 2️⃣ Try to encourage your tot to be independent. This is easier said than done (obviously) but with D I would set up a play area and he’ll just play on his own for a little which gives me time to breathe and a moment of rest. 3️⃣ Nap whenever possible. Even a snooze as short as 20 minutes helps! 4️⃣ Don’t be shy to enlist help. Ask your partner or family members to spare some time to take your little one out so you can rest. This is so important! 5️⃣ If you can check off things on your to-do list by online shopping then by god DO THAT 🙏🏽🤣 Save yourself from running around and expending energy! 6️⃣ Find ways to play with your babe so that you are able to sit comfortably. For example, find activities to do where you can lean back or sit on a chair or couch. It will save your back a lot of pain believe me. 7️⃣ Allow yourself moments to just feel emotional. It’s a lot. Your hormones will go a little crazy and it’s just part of the journey. Know that it’s normal and you are not alone. It’ll all be worth it ❤️ Any tips you would add to this list?
