Tuesday, May 19th was our almost wedding date. I was one of those people who thought you couldn’t (actually)meet someone you’d spend the rest of your life with in a bar (but secretly hoped maybe you could)! 🤔 But one night, I walked into one of the only LGBTQ bars I know in Orange County, CA @mainstreetlaguna to meet a random group of queers. From across the room, I saw her beautiful eyes, smile, and amazing hair and prayed she was part of the group I was meeting—when I finally met her, we delved into a convo on anti-oppression, race, gender, and sexuality (a topic hard to find in Orange County, let alone connected to our own experiences of those very things growing up IN Orange County!), travel & adventure. To keep it short, the more we got to know each other, the more and more I was enamored by her brilliance and beauty! Every step was like re-connecting with someone you’ve known before. On our almost wedding day, we exchanged words we’d written for each other overlooking the ocean with our dog Harry, we had food from a local French restaurant with Holly’s lovely parent’s, and had a FaceTime call with my family (including my niece and nephew but mostly my nephew’s cute face), and finished with drinks in the hot tub! Feeling rather fortunate to say the least! Both of us dated men as teens and young adults, and we didn’t know what the fuck we identified as for years! Now, we both feel empowered by labelling our sexuality because we feel like we have a full and complete understanding of ourselves. We feel confident and comfortable in who we are and we love having words that represent our identities 🌈 If you haven’t found a label that fits you yet, that’s okay. If you never find a label that fits you, that’s okay. If you don’t feel empowered by labels, that’s okay. Just know that labels don’t need to put you into a box. You are always able to identify with a new or different label as you learn more about yourself. It can take years through a journey of self-discovery to fully realize your sexual preference. For some, it’s a life long journey. Wherever you’re at, give yourself some grace and just do what feels right. What a dream its been! People have been asking me what the biggest difference in my life is, now that Im a father? Phoenix stole many of our hearts this summer as we cheered her on in her recovery, and it is with broken hearts that we are mourning her sudden and untimely death. Phoenix passed away unexpectedly just after 3:00pm on Saturday, September 19th 2020. After surviving her amputation surgery and overcoming the brief infection that followed, she was finally out of immediate danger. She even moved into a tiny cabin to live with us when she first returned from her amputation surgery so we could keep a close eye on her. Once she was in stable condition she moved outside, but she still preferred human company to that of her sheep friends. Every morning she would joyfully frolic and bounce out of the barn to greet us, and then she would happily roll around the lawn in her wheelchair for most of the day. When she was small enough to sit on my lap in the car, I used to take her into town because she loved car rides. Phoenix and I used to take walks around Kingston where she would brighten people’s days with her friendly personality. Despite an incredibly difficult beginning, Phoenix was a fighter who rose up again to become a happy lamb who touched many hearts. She was a kindred spirit, constantly kindling joy and spreading it to those around her. She was our little buddy, and we will miss her. Recently we noticed she was struggling to adjust to an increased nutritional intake of grain, but we did not expect this to result in abdominal bloating that would prove fatal. The veterinarian explained that Phoenix’s condition had progressed too quickly and there was little hope of saving her. Shortly after the veterinarian arrived, Phoenix died in my arms. Phoenix has certainly taught us lessons in resilience, strength, and hope. For many of us she was a shining light during a dark and difficult year, and I feel so fortunate that I was able to care for her until the end. Without your help Phoenix would not have survived more than a week or so, but thanks to all of your support she lived here happily with us for five months. For those of you who have donated to help with her medical bills, or have been cheering for Phoenix, we thank you and we are so sorry she is gone. ❤️🐑 - @kaylifergramsby on Instagram

3 years ago I went on a date with someone I met online. We absolutely loved Idaho. On our final day up we decide to take a drive up to a town called Riggins. A beautiful town right along the Salmon River. Unfortunately, we were met with a ton of smoke and you could tell the fires were not to far. We decided to stop for a bit to stare at the river and enjoy the rapids. We were so sad to leave @innatvirginiatech and the Blacksburg area! We made a stop in Wytheville on our way home to see Big Walker Lookout! What a view!
