For the past 6 plus weeks this chick and I have been on the road, accompanied by my brother Nils and Lucy dog. In a scary turn of events this trip has come to an end due to an unfortunate hiking accident. While climbing in Spearfish Canyon, South Dakota, a root, Nils, Bri, and I had been using to climb up and down to our belay spot, snapped while Bri was down climbing. Bri free fell 15 ft where she clipped her feet falling another 15 ft to then roll down a steep field of rocks. Before we knew it Nils and I were involved with the rescue team, building a road for people to stand on and to place Bris stretcher and using our own gear to move her cautiously around the terrain. Once we got Bri to the road she was MedFlighted to Rapid City, where we learned she had sustained 3 fractured vertebrae, a broken wrist, and a laceration to the head. For what Nils and I witnessed and experienced we are more than grateful to have Bri with us today along with knowing she will make a full recovery. We were also fortunate to have been climbing in an area with service to call 911. The terrain Bri was on was something any outdoor goer would have encountered countless times, which makes this story all the more scary. I am endlessly grateful to still have Bri in my life, additionally all in one piece. I love Bri like a sister and wouldn’t know what to do without her. She has been a fixture and role model in my life since moving to SLC, I would not be who I am today without her and all her love. Like many people Bri has lost her health insurance due to being laid off in the era of COVID-19. This has made the burden of medical bills a weight larger than one should have in this state. There are many gorgeous natural and man-made wonders in Georgia that you have to see all of them. From large gardens to 100-foot waterfalls, there is something for everyone in our state. Right on the border of the Georgia-Tennessee line, you will have to crawl through tight rock crevasses, go through a rainbow cave and cross a bridge to see a 100-foot free-falling waterfall. Lookout Mountain in Rock City, Georgia is one of the most underhyped locations in the state. This place is pretty spectacular and worth the drive. While it is only six miles from downtown Chattanooga, Rock City Gardens and Lookout Mountain are still in Georgia. The Gardens is what you want to see in Rock City. It will take you through a magical experience youve probably never seen before.
