Its a great day for a honey harvest! This is a full frame of honey from a hive at our bee farm. The bees collect nectar from flowers and dehydrate it by flapping their wings. When it is ready, they cap it with beautiful white wax cappings. We harvest our honey frame by frame. Raw honey never goes bad and was even found locked away in Egyptian tombs edible and unspoiled. 2020 has been an incredible honey year in our area. One thing I try to do every weekend is to spend some time doing a physical activity outside 🌞. Whether that’s playing basketball, tennis, hiking, or paddle boarding 🏄🏽♀️ I try to make sure that I get at least a few hours a week exercising outdoors. It has improved my overall mood, mental health, and physical health tremendously. ☺️ This past weekend I hiked a little over 11 miles. While I used to hike most weekends in the past when I was in undergraduate, I hadn’t gone in a few months. After this hike I was INCREDIBLY sore and I couldn’t figure out why. At the gym, I use the stair master, I have great stamina/endurance, and my legs/core are strong through resistance training. What I forgot is that hiking focuses on balance exercises that some resistance machines and gym exercises tend to forget. 🙅🏽♀️While hiking, you are constantly balancing on loose rocks, dirt, boulders, and other things you might find on the trail. ⛰ Hiking worked out muscles that I tend to skip over through balancing and stabilization mechanics. So remember that while the gym can give you a great workout, try to diversify your physical activity. You might be missing muscle groups that you never thought of! Let’s just think about some stuff for a minute. - our hearts beat constantly without us needing to think about it - we breathe without thinking about it - our bodies are literally doing a billion things at once w/o us realizing it - we can walk, run, jump, swim, lift, dance, stretch - we can feel sadness, joy, anger, love etc. - we can feel pleasure. and pain. You might think I’m crazy for thinking feeling pain is cool, but if you think about it, it’s actually pretty cool - we can laugh, talk, think, sing, taste, smell, hear, read, see, create - we get our insides literally ripped out every month. well, us females do. we bleed & bleed, but can (for the most part) go about business as usual - we can (again, this is mostly geared toward women) literally create another human inside of us & then give birth to them. I mean, if you don’t think that’s crazy, I don’t know what you’ll think is. My point is, it’s time we start to appreciate our bodies. They’re constantly taking care of us & allowing us to LIVE. I’m not saying you need to go love your body, because that shit is hard. But aim for body neutrality (more on that later). Appreciate your body & everything it’s constantly doing for you. Don’t try to change it. Manipulate it. Treat it like it’s out to ruin your life. Because it’s doing the opposite. It’s allowing you to experience life. So appreciate it.
