THE HOSPITAL trust serving #Solihull has become the first in the country to record more than a thousand coronavirus deaths. The grim milestone comes as councils in the Birmingham and Solihull area record accelerating rates of Covid transmission. Following a week with eight coronavirus deaths in the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, the combined number of deaths stands at 1,001 (September 27). The trust is one of the largest in the UK, treating over two million people annually. But passing the thousandth victim point will compound fears that infection rates in Birmingham and Solihull are becoming hard to control. The figures make UHB NHS Foundation Trust the first to record more than 1000 deaths, with the second highest East London’s St Bart’s Health NHS Trust at 635 deaths in total. Speaking on Friday (September 25), Clive Wright, West Midlands convener for the Department of Health, said: “We are at a pivotal point in what is a rapid increase in the spread of coronavirus. “As we know, the government has announced new measures in response to increased levels of transmission this week. “The area in the West Midlands with the highest infection rate is Birmingham which has reached over 100 per 100,000. “Solihull remains in intervention within the framework. “All councils are working tirelessly to deal with the virus, and there are great examples of advice and support offered to businesses and communities in Solihull. “This week’s rates across the West Midlands per 100,000 stands at 47.2 in Coventry, up from 34.6. “Solihull’s rate has gone down slightly from 69.8 to 67.9, and in Warwickshire the rate of infection has risen 21 to 24. “Some of this can be explained by increased testing, but it is clear the disease is spreading more rapidly. Across England, the total of deaths stands at 29.908, with 41,988 victims of the pandemic counted to September 28. On Sunday, the country recorded 5,693 new cases. An estimate from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), released on Septemeber 25, suggested that roughly one in 500 people in England had coronavirus in the week ending September 19. Today, Facebook reminded me that seven years ago (see the date at the top?) I was still looking for my first job out of law school and seeking inspiration through motivational quotes. It was four months after graduation and almost two months after the bar exam. I applied and searched and searched and applied. I had lots of amazing jobs during law school but none of them offered a post graduation employment track. It would be another few months before I landed a job working for the most amazing employer on earth in my chosen niche (in other words, it was worth the wait). Until then, however, I spent my days looking for work, spending time at the gym, hiking leafy trails, buying inspirational greeting cards at quaint village shops, and hoping I, too, would turn nothing into something. A 32-year-old woman in South Carolina was mauled to death by dogs in the yard of a home, officials said. Jacqueline Nicole Robinson was found dead Tuesday morning in the yard on Allegra Lane in Gray Court, around 78 miles northwest of Columbia, news station WYFF reported. Deputies said her body was discovered by a home health aide and several dogs were removed from the premises. It is unclear if it was the victim’s home or if the dogs were hers. The dog breeds are also unclear. Laurens County Deputy Coroner Patti Canupp said an autopsy performed Wednesday determined the cause of death was mauling by dogs. I was made aware this morning that people are inferring things/support/positions from this tweet. I have been on a deadline working all day, every day, for months. I also do not go on Facebook and I rarely post on Twitter. I have an assistant who posts for me on my author page and Twitter is .... Twitter. This tweet had NOTHING to do with anyone but me. Me. I was not signaling support. I was not condemning a specific person or group. I had NO idea that any of what I’m being accused of was even happening. I still don’t know the specifics and I don’t want to know. When I said in my tweet that I have tried to put my feelings into words for a long time, I meant it. Yesterday was Sunday and I spent much of it reflecting on the Corinthians verse about how “love never fails.” That got me thinking about what love is and WHY it never fails. The word zealot came into my mind in relation to Christ. He wasn’t a zealot, and I’m sure many people wanted him to be. That was the inspiration for the post. I have been torn up about the state of the world for a long time. Anyone who actually knows me, knows how I’ve tried to conduct myself and treat people. I have distanced myself so much from the book world these last few years that I have almost fallen off my porch. I thought about deleting the tweet when I was informed this morning about how it was being taken and shown screen shots of people talking about me on Facebook. 😂 But I decided that too will be misconstrued or taken as guilt or support or who knows what. I will clarify one more time: I don’t want any part of social media contention. I will not participate in it. I will not stir it. I will not give it a home. I will not carry a sign or give it a hug or a high five. As I said in my Twitter post, which again had NOTHING to do with the book world, I will not be a zealot. Repost: Did you play runescape? 😆 . . I made this last year for Comictober. I’m excited for the 2nd year of Comictober. I am gonna be jumping around different prompts of Inktober. I felt my style is a little different now than compare to last year. A lot can change in a year. . . During my middle school years I used to play Runescape a lot. I would get lost in the dungeon, but I had fun. My old username used to be Sailor YuYu on there. I combined Sailor Moon and Yu Yu Hakusho together to create the username.
