⁣ 💻 Hamstring Movement Prep⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⏭ SWIPE LEFT ☑️ SAVE & TRY LATER⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Movement preparation is needed to help prepare us for the physical demands of training. This will increase performance & decrease the risk of injury during any form of physical activity. When warming up, it’s very important to choose purposeful movement patterns that practice the specific motor skill/ skills for that day. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Usually most of our warmups are “general” & can get repetitive (ie, running on treadmill, riding stationary bike, static stretching, etc.), finding ourselves doing the same thing everyday. Using specific & progressive movement patterns during our warmup keeps you more engaged & allows you to get more out of the warmup in the context of upcoming training. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Some days can seem hard to get started if we warmup in a slow manner, then jump right into our workout that requires us to be moving at a faster pace. Our brain receives information it takes in & reacts accordingly, so the faster those signals from the brain travel, the better they are at allowing muscles to turn off & on in the order we’d like them to during our workouts. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ We wanna use the progressive nature of the warmup, where we start at a low intensity, then gradually build us toward high intensity, or to the level of intensity we will be training at. In this warmup I’m performing two exercises that will help prepare the glutes & hamstrings before my workout. ⁣⁣ These help me understand how I need to move & position my body while in a simple environment during the warmup, giving me something my body can reference back to, when we approach more complex movement patterns. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you struggle with getting your workout or day started much quicker than you’d like, send me an email 📧, DM or comment below. Is this you? Because it definitely is me sometimes🤷🏼‍♀️! I did an upper back post a few weeks back and I received so many comments asking for a lower back video! I am not perfect at reading my comments, but I do try much to my husbands dismay 😂. So let me know if this was helpful and where you struggle. Also, I know I have my shirt on and off so here is the background. I filmed all the exercises and then went to show some of the back pain culprits and my shirt was too loose to show what my back was doing. So it had to go and I wasn’t going to refilm the exercises as my kids were already losing it behind the scenes. Videos have to be filmed quick when your a mom, because ain’t no mom got time to refilm stuff like that! So that’s that. Ok, now to the good stuff! There are many causes for lower back pain but a common one is sway back posture. Your pelvis shifts backward with the butt tucked which turns off your Glutes & Hammies. As your pelvis shifts it pushes your hips forward which makes your core become completely inactive putting even MORE strain on the lower back. And from there this process becomes a vicious cycle of back pain👎🏻. The first thing you can do is fix your posture. I think about what my body is doing all the time when I am doing these things and try to adjust. It happens texting, doing dishes and so much more that I didn’t show so let’s start by being aware. Next let’s try to strengthen and stretch. When muscles are tight no amount of strengthening alone is going to release the tension. When muscles are weak no amount of stretching alone is going to support the body correctly to fix the situation. So the combination of both is best! Hold the stretches for 30 seconds. The reps for the strengthening exercises will vary based on your experience and abilities, but will be anywhere between 8-10. If you’re still having issues it is always worth seeing a physical therapist near where you live. And Myofascia release can help as well. @deliciouslyfitnhealthy - @sixpackfemmes on Instagram

Back & shoulders w/ @deliciouslyfitnhealthy 💪🏽 I filmed this workout a few weeks ago in the White Mountains of Arizona which is where my husband is from. I totally forgot about the workout until I was scrolling on my phone looking for a picture and stumbled upon it again. Its perfect for the fall weather too if you want to do it outside or use a stair banister inside. You just need 1 to 2 long bands! You guys know I swear by bands as they are a great addition with weights or on their own and this workout shows that too! Mine are all from @thexbands For the workout do 4 rounds. Res will vary based on the band resistance (shoot for 10-15) but you want the last three reps to be very challenging! Also, be aware you can make the resistance more or less depending on where you hold the band or how much slack is between your feet. This post is from January, but I wanted to pull it up again as I keep referring people to it. It’s a nice reminder of how many lower body unilateral exercises there can be - and you’re definitely not limited to the below. B-stance leg press, B-stance sliding leg curl, B-stance good morning are all variations I’ve tried and loved. 😊⁣ ⁣ Many of us incorporate plenty of bilateral lower body exercises into our training, but what about B-stance and single-leg? ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The B-stance (or kickstand) is a supported single-leg stance. Unlike true single-leg exercises, you don’t have to worry so much about balance and you can get in a solid training effect without lifting super heavy weight. These are also great as they’re easier on the spine and can help you work on asymmetries. Most of the load should be on the working leg, but you’ll find that roughly 20-30% of the load will still be on the supporting leg.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Contrast this with the true single-leg, which you’ll likely find more difficult in that you need more balance and coordination to execute. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Shown are a sampling of some of the more common bilateral, B-stance, and single-leg lower body exercises. You can use numerous implements, including barbells, kettlebells, and cables. Try to sprinkle in at least a few B-stance or single-leg lower body exercises into your training throughout the week. ✨FIX YOUR S#!T: hip thrust edition✨ • Here are the mistakes I see the most often-the best way to check if YOU are making any of these mistakes is to film yourself-and compare your videos to the following notes! ❌keeping your head lying back.
