My ADD got the best of me during a quick ride to the garden to get some sweet corn for stuffed peppers tonight. Beside my sweet corn is all my ornamental fiesta and earth tone. As I unwrapped a dozen that were dried up I was overcome with joy. The colours gave me life. Many farmers will tell you that this corn isn’t worth growing. It turns little to no profit but I don’t care. To me it’s a set it and forget it crop. Drop a ton in the ground and your laughing. They take no tending to. They are strong as hell. And for many it’s just for decoration but here, I can pop it or, what will become of it, give as a fun treat for the chickens to pass time. In your home garden they are a easy decorative addition that can be planted as late as late June/early July while they take at least 110 days to be full for harvest. All in all this indigenous crop is by far the best gift to my garden. I get to unwrap each one with a complete surprise as to what I will find. Oh and the husk can be used as a natural die on the deep colour corns. . . Olá queridos! Queremos dividir com vocês algumas mudanças que estão ocorrendo. . O nosso serviço de entregas de cestas nasceu há 3 anos, alguns meses antes de sabermos que seríamos a Broto. A produção de cogumelos no sítio iniciou em torno de 1 ano depois e aos poucos nossos clientes de cestas passaram a ter acesso a eles, assim como os clientes da Feira Ecológica e dos nossos parceiros revendedores. Somos gratos a todos por essa jornada. . Agora, no entanto, estamos prontos para o próximo passo. Queremos estruturar a produção de frutas e hortaliças aqui no sítio, para que possamos atuar menos como atravessadores e mais como agricultores. Queremos poder entregar cada vez mais alimentos cultivados com nossas próprias mãos. . Para que isso aconteça precisamos modificar nossa estrutura de trabalho e, por isso, o serviço de entrega de cestas da Broto está mudando: a lista da semana passará a se restringir somente a alimentos cultivados aqui no sítio. Por hora, teremos disponíveis os nossos amados filhotes cogumelos, mas assim que a produção de vegetais começar a dar frutos incluiremos estes alimentos. .
