Strength Cycle: Week 2 Deadlift- 450lbs: 1x3, 405: 3x3( last video was last warmup at 425lb) Bench- 290 lbs: 1x3, 275: 3x3 Pretty much just getting in what I can, whenever I can. Didn’t work out Monday - Wednesday bc of work absolutely destroying me. I knew I wouldn’t hit any of my programmed numbers. And I honesty felt like I would hurt something if I did train my program. So today I knocked out as much program as I could. Did dead’s and bench along with other accessories that were programmed. This is honestly the first time deadlifting in like 2, maybe 3 weeks. Today during my training session I witnessed a 21 year old pulling 7 plates on deadlifts with ease. Shins bleeding, hands hurting, veins poking. I was in awe. So lately I’ve been trying to figure out how to give back the best of my ability and also get @1upnutrition as much recognition as they deserve. Having an exercise program that you enjoy is everything - In all my experience training clients in person and online, the amount of enjoyment you get out of your workouts is the number one indicator of whether or not you’ll stop working out - This is why I always say “the best exercise you can do is the one you enjoy” because you can have the most “optimal” program in the world, but if you hate it, you won’t do it - Now, do you need to love all your workouts? Absolutely not. There are still days I hate the program I’m doing and dread going to the gym. But it’s not about loving or hating individual days. ✨Current Physique Update✨ Height: 6’0 Weight: 185 lbs Body Fat %: 14-15% (visual estimate) Hair: 11/10 Calves: -2/10 Strength: Still down compared to where it was pre-COVID, but fortunately a lot of it (80%) has come back these past ~8 weeks since gyms opened back up in Toronto. ✨Important Philosophical Stuff✨ One thing I noticed about myself is that I don’t post physique updates as much as I used to when I was first on IG, despite me having a similar (if not slightly worse) physique back then. And as weird as it is to admit, I think a big reason for this is the astronomical growth of the “average” physique of fitness influencers on the platform. Let’s cut the bullsh!t – with so many guys on fitness IG using that good old “WELCH’S GRAPE JUICE”, your mind starts to get a little warped in terms of its perception of what is a good but still attainable physique. However, going forward I think I want to try consciously overriding this, not just for me but for a lot of you guys (especially the younger ones) who are experiencing the same thing. I will try to post more honest and transparent physique content in an attempt to give a visual example of a NATURAL physique after 10+ years of training. Because if you’re 19 and you hop on the Instagram explorer page and see nothing but guys who are: ▫️200 lbs ▫️8% body fat 365 days a year ▫️Benching 400+ lbs ▫️19” arms Then you may start to feel that that is the new standard for fitness, which is CRAZY and in 99% of cases (unless you have godlike genetics) you’re setting yourself up for disappointment down the road. So hopefully me posting more content like this will help bring some of you a bit back down to earth with a more reasonable example of natural physical development. Because there are way too many guys out there (potentially reading this now) who feel “fat” because they don’t have a shredded six-pack all year round, or feel small because they can’t rep out 3 plates on the bench like it’s a warm-up. 🧬SCIENCE SUNDAY🧪 ☀️ 🛏- when’s the best time for training? Most people would assume hypertrophy (muscle growth) or strength doesn’t wait for a time of day. But there are many reasons as to why certain parts of the day could lead to different results in training. Hormone fluctuations, mobility, energy levels, etc. 1. The first article proves that The cross sectional area of the vastis lateralis (biggest part of the quad) increases in muscle mass within the evening training group MORE (p0.05) than the morning training group. However, this was only true when the training was longer than 13 weeks! Implying that training in the evening is best for hypertrophy!!! 2. The second article also comes to the same conclusion, while also finding that isometric force (strength) was higher in the evening group than the morning group (p0.05) Ik it’s Monday, but I’m gonna start posting simple summary’s of the current science on topics related to nutrition or training! RAW PHYSIQUE UPDATE 11/9/2020 Officiala finished my lean part of my bulk 😄. It’s been 6 months of force feeding and intense workouts, but i feel like it’s paid off lads. Now going into a 2 month extra bulk, 1 month at 4500 and 1 at 5000, increase strength and wring out the last bits of muscle. 💪🏼👍🏼 - After that it’s gonna be a 6-8 week cut and then a big 1.5 year off season at 3500cal daily, after that 6 months of pushing up to 5000cal. gonna make that my biggest offseason to date and i WILL progress TREMENDOUSLY. Opening up... **Quick disclaimer** By no means am I trying to sound negative or pessimistic with this caption but rather my goal here is to be completely transparent with you guys with what’s been really going on in my life. This is by far going to be the hardest thing Ive ever posted but I’m choosing to be vulnerable and not just show the highest of highs of my journey as a young entrepreneur, but also the lowest of lows. The past 2 1/2 months I’ve been struggling with anxiety, depression, binge eating, self discipline, restlessness ect... all the negative mental crap you can think of pretty much. As you guys know I took a pretty big leap to move out on my own back in late June. My intention with taking that leap was to throw myself out into the world and take on full responsibility for myself as a newly young adult, thinking the pressure I would feel doing so would help me grow into a better version of myself. But it did the opposite. I began to fold under all the new responsibilities and pressure that I literally choose to put myself under. (Mostly financial pressure) I began to spiral downward in every area of my life, spiritually, mentally, financially and as you can see in the pictures above, physically... I weighed In this morning at the heaviest I’ve ever been... 203.4lbs Sure I may not be super overweight or anything but that physique above is something I am anything but proud of. It took a while for me to post this, because I still don’t feel that comfortable with sharing my physique on social media. However, I thought by myself f*ck it; it’s something to be proud of after all these years of hard work. • The left picture is taken in May 2014 and the right picture last summer. In my first (~3) years of training I had very little knowledge about nutrition (and training in general). I ate a lot of crap and I thought that protein shakes were some kind of magic muscle building elixer. I have always been a hardgainer, which made it very difficult for me to put on muscle mass (especially when you’re not eating right). In my last two years of training I started really focusing on progressive overload and eating in a caloric surplus, which has led to the best progress I’ve made in all my years of training. • I am extremely proud when I look at my personal transformation. It’s not just my transformed body, but it is a representation of all the hard work and consistency I put in over the past few years 💪🏼 Back in 2014 I could’ve never imagined the impact that fitness was going to have on my life. Going on this fitness journey has been thé best decision of my life. I’ve grown so much as a person, I’ve learned to push my limits, and I’ve met so many amazing people with the same mindset (you all know who you are). I NEED TO STAY AHEAD OF MY DEPRESSION 🙏 My husband and I got into a massive argument a couple days ago. I’ve been going full speed these last few months with my fitness and business goals and am officially to a point where I have to up my game ... again. More studying... More accountability... More grind to get to where I wanna go... It’ll come at a cost on more than one level. On top of building the business of my dreams, I’m working on pushing myself harder physically than ever. Ryan was super concerned that I was stretching myself too thin and he could see it was already taking a toll, but he finally agreed to listen to what all was entailed. He admitted that he wasn’t even really listening to the plan of action that was being broken down to him during this 3-way call between my business mentor and us... BUT He DID however, listen to me and my WHY. I like to go FAST I NEEEED TO GO FAST I’ve learned a very important thing about myself this last few months. I don’t run well on idle. I NEED to constantly stay in momentum. When I don’t have definite goals in my life... I slowly die emotionally. I get too caught up in negativity if I’m not in control of making my life BETTER and I prefer to work under pressure, for that’s when I feel my best. He knows I cannot go back to living with the depression that literally took over a year ago. I’m a different person now, stronger mentally and physically. I’ve died and been reborn a hundred times over this last year. But part of this next level in my mentorship program is to learn about balance. Because I’ve also learned that I can get so laser focused that I can quickly neglect other areas in my life, like relationships and needed time off. Setting goals and expectations for myself is what I need to have. Stopping is not an option for me. EVER. IM NEVER QUITTING. 🛑 WARNING: I apologise in advance for the faces pulled in this video 🛑 Bicep curls are an exercise we all know (and probably one a lot of us guys prioritised too much when we were just starting out lols) Being such a simple movement there’s literally a millions ways to train them... EZ bar curls, hammer curls, spider curls, pronated - the list goes on But a combo that I’ve found really gets the blood in the ol pythons flowing is just to keep it basic and dropset the movement. For me I just perform standard dumbbell curls, for 12 reps (With a weight that I can manage - but is still a challenge and keeps 1-2 good reps in reserve) Then once I’ve done those I drop the weight by half and perform 12-15 (wherever I can get to without sacrificing form too much - not here tryna throw my back out) Seated... standing... hanging... however you do them - don’t go swinging around like a goose. - @wolfecampbell on Instagram

⁉️THE ANABOLIC WINDOW IS REAL⁉️😳 . . 1. This 2013 meta-analysis concluded that as long as daily protein intake is reached, it shouldn’t matter when you consume your protein. BUT 19 of the 23 articles were performed on untrained subjects (unlike the second one). It should also be mentioned that 20 of the articles did not have matched total protein intakes and compared protein supplement to a placebo, therefore, these 20 studies cannot justify the conclusion the article made. The 3 studies that didn’t do this had a total of 77 subjects, which would not lead to the statistical power which the article claimed with the 500+ subjects in all 23 articles. 2. The second article is from 2017 and concludes that the timing of protein consumption DOES matter when it comes to lean muscle mass loss on a cut. 16 trained young males were split into 2 groups. One of which had 28g of whey protein pre and post workout, and the other 28g of carbs. Body fat was lost in the protein supplemented group, but lean mass was lost in the carbohydrate supplemented group. All the previous research (almost general fitness knowledge now) confirmed that having a lot of protein while in a deficit is the best way to maintain lean body mass, however in both groups the subjects had a relatively high protein intake (according to current standards); at 2.6 g/kg in the carbohydrate group and 3.0 g/kg. It seems really unlikely that the 0.4 increase is responsible for preventing lean muscle loss. Which is how the article came to its conclusion that timing protein consumption around time of training will lead to less muscle loss. What’s the takeaway on all this? . If you are an individual who is well trained and are going on a cut, if you want to retain as much lean muscle mass as possible then consume your protein around your time of training! #ThrowBack to when the gyms were open last summer and I was the leanest Ive ever been. I just wanted to post this for one reason and one reason only. Despite what your favorite internet fitness guru or some BS medical professional says. Carbs 👏🏼 dont 👏🏼 make 👏🏼 you 👏🏼 fat 👏🏼 . . Carbs are one of the three main macronutrients (alcohol is technically the fourth) and they are 4 cals/gram along with protein and fat is 9 cals/gram. Your TOTAL calorie intake is what determines whether you gain, lose, or maintain. Your MACROS affect your body composition. . . Around this time I was eating 2250 calories. My protein was somewhere around 175 g my fat was somewhere around 55-60g and the rest was carbs (roughly 250 g). Yes. I lost 30 lbs and got close to single digit body fat (might have been there but not sure) and I did all eating carbs. I had white rice, cereal, and white bread almost every day. If youre on a fad diet and losing weight, congrats, but its not because youre not eating carbs. Its because you took a whole macronutrient out and are eating highly satiating foods that help make you feel full on less calories. Your body is still in a DEFICIT. Chest day today - Decided to mix things up a bit and use the decline today to really surprise my muscles and help break and shock them from normal routines and habits to stimulate more growth. ____________________________ Decline barbell bench sets I did before my other exercises: - 60kg warm up set x 12 - 80kg x 12 - 100kg x 2 - 95kg x 5 ____________________________ This is called pyramid setting. Pyramid setting is when you build up weight and decrease reps and then drop back down in your last sets for more reps and less weight to get out of the habit of building up weight and then stopping and moving onto the next exercise. This helps shock your muscle fibres that much more to keep them guessing.
