A week and a half ago we adopted little Hank and he deserves a proper introduction! Our friends texted us 2 weeks ago asking if we wanted to bring a puppy into our home. We had already agreed we wanted to concentrate on our sweet Maddie girl while we still have her. But this puppy’s story was special and our friends insisted he was too. This poor little guy spent his first 5 weeks of life in a hole in the desert! His Momma kept him and his 6 brothers and sisters alive during a horrible 100+ degree heat wave! The video at the end is Momma, who found a home a couple days ago too! 🥰🥰🥰 Needless to say, it turns out he is a special guy. He loves his sisters...Maddie is pretty fond of him too. Today, we would like to share inspiring story about @li_rebs_ _____________________________________________________________ Li had a seriously abusive childhood, one which is best imagined, as opposed to knowing the truth. Leading on, Li joined the British Army which gave her routine, but serving also had its own price to pay; she was diagnosed with PTSD and had to leave the Army. This double blow very nearly defeated her, and she made three serious attempts at taking her own life. Li tried many clinical therapies, but it was not until she met Malcolm Williams from Rock2Recovery whose coaching saved her life, that she found a degree of respite. Li now works for R2R, and is enjoying a much happier life. She is shaving her head on 19th June and raising funds for Rock to Recovery @rock2recoveryuk . Friday was a long day. I had a PET & brain scans in the morning then #chemo in the afternoon. The best news came prior to my #chemo infusion I’m fucking #stable which means my drug is doing its job. With all the injustices, ignorance and discrimination going on, I was hesistant in posting as I feel there are bigger issues that should be prioritized. Nonetheless, I wanted to remind everyone why judgement towards others (regardless of the excuse) can become a negative impact in someone’s life. My appearance has created the assumption that my illness is “just a skin condition”. Strangers in public have told me “at least it’s just some bandages.” However, they are unaware that my illness is slowly deteriorating my body. Although I won’t go into detail as I have just uploaded an in depth video on my #Youtube channel, I recently had to get an urgent Iron infusion as my blood levels were very low. #EB is serious and does not only affect my external surfaces but also my internal wellbeing. This is why we should think prior to making a comment or judgement towards someone’s physical aspect . Sometimes, when everything finally feels right with your world, the little reminders of illness don’t feel as bad. But you can only ignore them for so long. Things will happen that force you to put the life you fought for on hold, and they will teach you to appreciate each and every moment you can get away from the intensity of illness and find even the smallest sense of peace. This summer I found happiness and healing with the support of a new friend and mentor that allowed me to acknowledge and start to move on from past traumas—I was relearning to love my life, and to respect myself and my body for all I am capable of. I was truly happy. I was also fighting an infection in the pocket of skin where my port lived. Yes, that was scary, but I was armed with a renewed sense of hope that made it feel like just a bump instead of a complete road block. I was okay, but a very fragile okay... Just in time with my last exam at uni comes the 3 year anniversary of my injury. The last 3 years have been a whirlwind from being told at the age of 20 that I’d never walk again and my life would be considerably different to my age mates through to the age of 23 sitting on top a degree and medalled at a competition representing my country 😎 - I could have never imagined my years would go the way they did but it did and it’s something that I had to get my head round quickly 😬🙌🏻 - 4 years, 1 spinal cord injury, 1 incredible placement, few wheelchairs and a whole dissertation later, we are done 😅 - The last 3 years have thrown challenges my way I’d never thought I’d even have to think about, but I promised myself I’d never loose who I am as a person and I keep that tough, gutsy personality that I was given. Choose who you want to be and stay true to that no matter what comes your way ✌🏻 - I think the key to anything that happens in life is a sheer reluctance to surrender, circumstances don’t always get easier, but one thing for sure is the person going through them will always get tougher 👊🏻🙌🏻 - Way to many people to thank for being a incredible support or a simple breath of fresh air of the last few years - but I’ll never forget it and you’ll always have a good friend, in me 🙌🏻 - Let’s hope this time next year the craziness surrounding us is a thing of the past and I’m well on my way to more medals on the platform 🇬🇧🔥 Bournemouth University it’s been an epic journey, full of some unimaginable lows, a few angry bouncers and some pretty unforgettable memories too 🤪 - But most importantly..... it’s been a pleasure 💙 - @_liam8 on Instagram

Some of you might remember Zeke. Zeke was diagnosed with cancer when he was only 3 years old. Now at 9 years old, Zeke has had two major brain surgeries and years of chemotherapy to try to prevent tumor growth in his brain. He just completed a clinical trial at Texas Childrens Hospital, which was successful in preventing tumor growth. Zekes family recently shared: There are so many difficulties to having a child with cancer but having CFOH come alongside of us...we dont have to worry about whether we can afford the flight, whether the travel makes the trial an impossibility or anything else, because we know that CFOH has our backs. Yep, hes going in for the bite😳 😜 Felt really blessed to have the ability to spend my birthday on the beach. ⛱️Every day for well lets just say the past three months gives us something new 🤯😫 I dont know about you but its a roller coaster I personally want off of. Im in So Cal and restrictions and now openings have been crazy. ( Not getting political) more talking an emotional ride. As the world is opening back up Im finding a new sense of gratitude. It was hard to slow and then come to a screeching hault. It was crazy to over night turn into full time teachers and stay at home moms, (Im a working mom). Cooking all meals at home, shopping with masks and getting only what you can thats available. All six of us home but only 4 rolls of TP left 🤦🏼 helping the kids understand the pandemic and why they are stuck at home. My kids are 10-19 so you understand that each one has a different dilemma. Now here, the opening up. Whats safe, whats right. To wear or not wear a mask. Here is my reminder; You do what makes you feel safe. You do what helps your families feel good. Memories bring back memories bring back you. My Grammy passed away this past weekend at age 86. She lived a good life. Raised a great family. And she got to see her family grow and build their own families. She was a huge part of my childhood. A majority of my memories as a kid took place at Grammy’s house. The great thing about good memories is they last forever while freezing the feeling of the moment as if it is recent. . This is why I feel it is so important to live each day to the fullest, make good memories and don’t let fear hold you back from having a great life. And TAKE PHOTOS of things worth remembering, because one day the photos (even if the little, simple things) will mean even more than they do at the time. . This isnt our best picture, however a picture can speak a million words. This photo was captured the morning of OHS and little did Miss Molly know her world + our world was going to change once again. What I even love more about the photo are the christmas cards behind us... we wouldnt be here without all of you + those that didnt send cards. Mollys delivery was/is painful and a dark hole that I have forever tucked away in my internal linen closet. What isnt painful was her birth diagnosis. Our NICU Dr T. Bruce Ferrara was so compassionate and knew this was going to come as unexpected news. He did the most incredible thing anyone could have done in this situation and called in the most incredible NICU RN. She wrapped it up with allowing us to have a few minutes with her before they took her back for so many tests due to her delivery. this approach was the result of hard work of Jacks basket...changing the narrative. Our most incredible Doula, @margaret.owens, quickly jumped on connecting us to a forever special friend Christine Anderson Kolb to get us started with Jacks Basket. This organization is so incredible and just has a natural way of healing a broken heart. Last Friday one of our staff members and family members was in a horrible accident on his way to work. Someone wasn’t paying attention and accidentally pulled out of a side street and hit him on a nearby 2 lane hwy. The EMT said he almost cried when he had to cut the blockbuster shirt off. He is conscious but has broken all of his limbs and will be needing expensive medical attention. Well, it’s official, after two very long days at the hospital (15+ hours total), I have 4 cancer demons and a blood clot near two of them. Two are above my heart (biopsy Monday), one is dangerously close to a major blood vessel connected to my heart and the other is pushing on a nerve from my T4 vertebra, but not pushing on my spinal cord (thankfully). Radiation starts Monday for the spine, they gave me 3 tiny tattoos to mark the radiation location because it is a bit dodgy getting to them as they are pretty deep inside of me. I’ve had 4 scans, 6 blood draws and an IV full of contrast to locate the demons. My doctors, nurses and surgeons are are all here for me 4 years later and they worked tirelessly the past two days to figure out what’s happening. Needless to say, I am feeling eternally grateful! All of this just before my 49th birthday on Sunday. Whew, emotions were all over the map! Despite the news sounding bad, my docs are confident we caught them all early enough to destroy them! I have been overwhelmed and overjoyed by all of the love and support from all of my dear friends, family members and people I barely know, and for that I am forever grateful and deeply appreciative! I’ve been through some of the heaviest heartache in my life in the past several years, and I had been moving through it really well because of therapy and all of you, and this time I’m going to crush it again because me and the universe have plans!!! Even with everything that has happened in Minneapolis and the pandemic, I know we will get through all of the hatred and destruction, and build ourselves back up through unity, positivity and the kindness of strangers. I have seen it happening and the TV and most of social media is just a pile of digital garbage. 8 years ago today 🖤 was the beginning of my life. I try not to get too emotional on this day but it comes naturally in different ways each year. The difference now is that I’m at peace with almost everything now and I’ve grown 10,000X the person I used to be in so many ways. 8 years ago we found the reason for my years of seizures (10-20 a day back then) was 2 tumors (one non cancerous fighting a cancerous tumor) the size of a golf ball pressing on part of my brain. This was my spiritual awakening, when I realized nothing matters to me but connecting to nature and some deeper source. That the only reason we are here is love. Today is always a good reminder to check myself and see if I’ve gotten lost in the ways of the world at all again (& of course there’s always something, always improving). I’m so grateful for my suffering because it has brought me true happiness, deeper connections & a better way of life. If my body needs rest, I’ll often run myself into the ground, but now it will let me know and often I can listen to the signs beforehand and avoid going too too far. I used to be annoyed by this because I wanted to keep up with or not disappoint anyone but now anyone who can’t understand simply isn’t for me. I’ve only grown stronger relationships with those who understand, relationships like I’ve never had before, including the relationship with myself. It takes a whoooole lot of work and I understand it may not be appealing to all but I truly believe anyone could use and benefit from this healing. Being told you have brain cancer and going through the process & pains opens your eyes and your heart in ways I cannot explain. (I hear many stories similar (including near death experiences) this is just my story and my view... I am so happy today and feel so at peace with myself and so adventurous still with the “no fucks” attitude it takes for myself to pursue those adventures. Everything I have, Everything I am, I owe to something that was at first the scariest and most painful thing I never imagined I’d go through. Across all of September, it’s been #childhoodcancerawarenessmonth. Cancer at any age is something that no one should have to go through. But at whatever stage you are in your life, it comes with different challenges. It goes without saying the NHS are incredible and such an invaluable asset that we are so lucky to have. But charities are also a big part of supporting you through treatment and remission stages. Because of COVID, the amazing work that these charities do has been severely impacted and I wanted to take this opportunity to shout about some of the charities that have helped me over the years. The miracles they perform in that hospital still amaze me to this day and I owe my life to them. @macmillancancer were crucial in the transition between hospital and re-adjusting to home life. Their nurses would come round fairly regularly to carry out minor checks and tests to make sure things were as they should be and help answer any questions you might have, trying to get back to normal life. @emctrust were influential in the long-term remission phase. They take young people that have gone through cancer or illness on sailing trips, to rebuild their confidence. The work they do is key in getting people back into a sense of ‘life routine’ that you’ve lost from going through such an experience. On the face of it, it sounds like these little things that you become out of touch with aren’t important, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The trips also act as a forum for people that have been through similar experiences and really helps alleviate thoughts such as ‘survivors guilt’ after treatment - something of which the effect is completely undersold to those who haven’t been through such an experience. I have no doubt that there are MANY other charities that helped, without me even realising, but these are just some that helped me through it all and out the other side. It is with a very heavy heart that I learned this morning that Donna McEachern passed away this morning. Donna was a surrogate mother to me when my own passed away. There are countless lives that she touched in her career as a drama teacher and the world is a sadder place without her in it. I’m glad I was able to stay in touch with her over the years. This is one of my favorite masks for several reasons. Not only for its practicality, but also for what it means. I’m a part of this group on Facebook called the Buy Nothing Project. It’s a local gift economy existing outside the boundaries of capitalistic programming. At the end of every week, I would take the left over produce from the farm that was not good enough to sell but definitely good enough to eat and share it with my Buy Nothing neighbors. One neighbor came by to pick up some veggies, and in an act of gratitude, gave me this mask that she made herself. When I wear this mask, I am wearing community. The purpose of the clear plastic is so that those who are hearing-impaired can read my lips and facilitate easier communication. When I wear this mask, I am wearing inclusivity. Without fail, every time I wear this mask out in public, I always get some kind of reaction. “Whoa! That’s a little freaky” “That’s kind of weird, right?” But more often than not, the reaction is a huge smile and “Oh wow, I love your mask!” I think, as a collective, we’ve never been so appreciative of something as simple as a smile. When I wear this mask, I am wearing joy. Hey everyone, my name is Mai @maity87 I’m a 32 year old Project Manager, Egyptian living and working in the UK. In 2018 I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, following losing both my parents earlier that year. To say it was a tough year would be an understatement, a lot of pain, loss and the emotional turmoil of Cancer. After 12 rounds of ABVD chemotherapy I was in remission, but only lasted 3 months before I relapsed. I’ve had to go through more chemo, then now having a stem cell transplant. This picture was taken a few days after my first 10 hour surgery, which what was supposed to be the final step in recovery and my cancer journey... Little did I know this was just the beginning. To often it seems like we are so close to our destination in life and then all of a sudden a massive setback derails us from our goals and we never end up achieving them, leaving us with dreams and outcomes that could have been. For me what I’ve learned in my health, relationship, and business is the more the pain you can endure for a longer period of time the more opportunity and greater outcome you can achieve. God only puts us through situations he thinks we can handle, yet most of us give up to easily to every see his full plan. Happy Sunday.... motorcycles have been in my life since I was a kid. I’ve been riding them on the back of my stepfather‘s bike since I was three years old. He would bungee cord me in because I’d fall asleep and I kept pounding him on the back to go faster and faster. Motorcycles are my love motorcycles are my life. Have fun ride hard and be safe my fellow riders. my granny, my amazing hero Violet has been riding her whole life she retired her Harley Davidson a few years ago and she’s 97 years old. It’s in our blood thank God I have her gene’s and she gave me her motorcycle as I prepare to restore it I will have it in the family and pass it down in generations to come. Life in lockdown during coronavirus has been challenging in many ways but personally it’s been one of the most exciting and happy times of my life. On the 16th of June, my partner Liz gave birth to our beautiful little girl, Genevieve. It has been a whirlwind time but we could not imagine life without her now. Mum and Evie are doing well and it’s so amazing to be home with them both. We are absolutely in love with this little bundle and rolling with the happy chaos. 11 years ago today I experienced the most traumatic event of my life. This is something I’ve always been private about but I think it is time to share more of my journey. On September 15, 2009, I was riding home with my sweet angel Meredith when we were involved in a fatal accident. The car we were in hydroplaned into oncoming traffic where we got hit by multiple cars and flipped a few times. Shortly there after I was being air lifted to the med where I woke up with two broken femurs, a broken tibia, two broken vertebrae and other injuries that required multiple surgies. I now have titanium rods in both femurs and my tibia and screws and pins all through my ankles, knees, and hips. Looking back, I had NO idea what I went through and how resilient the human body is. I had multiple surgeries, extensive therapy, and had to re-learn how to walk at the age of 14. Since 2009, I have had a terrible relationship with food, exercise, and just overall health. Since March, I have taken charge of my body and pushed it past limits I never could’ve imagined, and I am still getting better every day.  All of that being said, I thought I would share a little more detail about myself and what drives me everyday. God gave me a second chance, and I will not let myself succumb to the trials I have endured. This is what being completely vulnerable looks like for me. . . I remember the moment the doctor told me I had breast cancer I still remember his face perfectly like it just happened, it is burned into my brain. . . Breast cancer? Me? At 31? I thought he had made a mistake I prayed that he was wrong that something went wrong and it wasn’t true it couldn’t be true I am so healthy and so young. I remember one of the first thoughts I had was about my hair I was terrified to lose it I told myself I would never show my head! . . Here I am almost six month later. . . I am here battling day and night and Iv learned that it’s not true what they say, it’s not each day that is a gift it is each moment and each breath it is each hug and each smile it is the sound of your children’s little voices and giggles it is each hand held and step taken it is feeling the sun on your face and smelling the crisp fall air . Happy World PCOS Day, you lovely human!⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Last month, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by @pollinated.podcast. She asked me why I do what I do. It hit me that I had never fully shared why I specialize in PCOS (though I dont personally have PCOS.)⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ So why do I do this work, this way?⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Because I wholeheartedly believe our bodies are good and wise. And Im determined to remind as many women as possible that this is true- You and your body are inherently good and wise.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ When I first started working in fertility and PCOS, it became very clear to me that it was far too common for people with PCOS to have been made to feel by society, family, friends, media, and healthcare providers that their bodies are anything but good and wise.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ When I would ask people how they felt about their bodies they would use words like, betrayed, stupid,” “a lemon,” “faulty.” I would sit there shocked and heartbroken. Those words didn’t align one bit with how I saw them or their bodies.⠀ ⠀ That’s why I teach yoga. To help people see past the lie that they are anything other than worthy and whole. That’s why I approach nutrition the way I do. And that’s why I’m a PCOS advocate.⠀ ⠀ All this month, in addition to wrapping up the supplement series from last month and some new posts, I’ll be participating in some very cool and very fun PCOS events. Believe it or not , I daily have people ask if I’ve thought of seeing a natural doc, if I consider their special drink, and if I do keto or if I’ve heard of mold poisoning and or lymes disease and if I considered doing ferments. YES, YES, YES to literally anything you have ever heard of or thought of. We’ve literally looked and researched everywhere but right now we need to figure out what the problem is before we can try options. I also have a disorder that makes me highly allergic to a lot of different things and so I cannot try things on a whim. I know people mean well, but when someone says “please don’t offer advice at this time “, and another person answers and says, “ I know you didn’t want advice BUT……” Unless you are a close friend, you are practicing the opposite of compassion. You are assuming the least of that person and not listening. That creates intense isolation. And Yes I can keep it all private and disappear into nothingness. Let’s not make that the only option for people who are suffering terrifying battles in their life. LOVE, PRAYERS, MEALS, NOTES, SUPPORT & BELIEF. On 26 August, my 17-year-old daughter Megan was unexpectedly diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. She was rushed to St Georges in Tooting where she stayed for 10 days starting an intensive course of chemotherapy. She was then transferred to the Teenage Cancer Trust Ward at Royal Marsden in Sutton where she remains and will do for some time yet. Throughout her stay at St Georges and continuing at The Royal Marsden she has been the recipient of regular bloods and platelets. I cannot thank everybody enough who donates, it really does save lives and assist in putting extremely poorly people back on the road to recovery. I am a blood donor and have been for many years and donate as often as I can. It’s something I’ve always done with the thought in my head that it helps somebody somewhere who needs it. On 1/25, I was flat on my back looking up @ the Heavens. Completely tore my left patella tendon. The day before I was doing 1-legged Pistol Squats, Bear-crawling up & down, hopping & sprinting up the SBCC steps w/ my Son @_isaiah41x10_ .. in 1 second my Life changed FOREVER the following day hiking & slipping down the trail... Thank you FOREVER Skip Sanger @easternpacific1 for connecting me w/ the Incredible Dr Robert Klapper @drrobertklapper @ Cedar Sinai & performing his Incredible artwork on my knee & in turn having just as Amazing PT as Mike Swan @eliterehabcenter. Yesterday was the 1st day back @ soft sand w/ my 24k/53lb kettlebell. Slowly trying to get it ALL back. Worked out w/ both sons, @_isaiah41x10_ & @28shootaz slowly working my way back to MT & WY to be w/ ALL 3 of my Boys @mychalangelo doing what we do. Elk, wolves, Grizzlies, bison & being w/ my Family in WY/MT being “Elkaholics” for sustainable living using Non-Lead ammo. There should be no surprises when it comes to the financial toll cancer patients experience. According to a survey conducted in 2017 by CancerCare, 70 percent of patients have experienced financial hardship from cancer-related expenses. The financial burden of cancer is exacerbated because patients do not receive information on the costs of care or resources to help them manage these costs. In the survey, patients identified gaps in information regarding organizations that provide financial assistance or navigation, and information on costs of treatment before beginning that treatment. We hear many cancer patients talk about surprise medical bills. We hear many people talk about going medically bankrupt because of high costs of care. In a country where cancer is expected to affect 1.8 million lives with around half of those succumbing to the disease, the last thing that can possibly occur is people shying away from getting follow up care. Running away from diagnostic screenings and drugs that is pertinent for a world less susceptible to cancer. Today marks my 4 year anniversary from being diagnosed with cancer, in addition all my bloodwork came back great indicating another year Cancer free🙌🏼.
