🌱Food is Medicine! When I used to work on the Labour and Delivery Unit, we would recommend cabbage leaves to our patients for sore breasts after breasting feeding. It works miracles! 👉🏼Cabbage has powerful anti-inflammatory compounds that provide a remarkably effective treatment for relieving swelling, bruising, simple strain and pain associated with a wonky knee, twisted ankle and painful joints to sore breasts. . . 👉🏼red cabbage seems to be more potent than green, but either will do.  . . 👇🏼HOW TO 🥬Peel away an outer cabbage leaves, wash thoroughly then pat dry with kitchen roll. . 🥬Use a knife to cut out the hard stem then place on the counter flat. Using a rolling pin or a or bottle, gently bruise the leaves to release the natural juices and they are floppy enough to easily mould to the body. . 🥬Place the cabbage leaves directly over the affected joint or area, cover with a bandage, cling film or tin foil and elevate if at all possible.Keep your cabbage compress on the affected area for up to an hour. You can repeat this process 2-3 times per day. You could, however, apply the leaves at bedtime and keep the poultice on overnight.(If you have any swelling or itching to the skin where the cabbage poultice is placed, remove the leaves immediately) . . 🥬Cabbage leaves can create great warm or cold compresses. For a cold compress, refrigerate the cabbage before you begin the process above. For a warm compress, place them in the oven to warm on top of foil paper. do not microwave, it will destroy all the enzymes and phtyochemicals. ⚡️H A N D•N U M B N E S S⚡️ Do you find your hand frequently falling asleep, feeling numb, like pins & needles, or a random tingling? • For many people this is a very common occurrence which comes every once in a while, but doesn’t necessarily mean there is something “wrong”. • For others, this issue persists and effects them every time they move their arm or neck a certain way and even worse - may be felt constantly. • Personally, even I frequently feel numbness in my hands when I’m laying awkwardly, on my phone scrolling IG for hours on end, and when I go for long bike rides through the city. • The following exercises explain some things you can do if you’re frequently effected by hand numbness. • What is important to note though, is that while many times our hand falling asleep may be nothing, it can also be a sign of another issue like: 1️⃣Cervical Disc Herniations 2️⃣Cervical Spine Stenosis 3️⃣Thoracic Outlet Syndrome 4️⃣Peripheral Neuropathy 5️⃣Carpal Tunnel Syndrome • While these exercises can still be helpful for each of these diagnoses, it is still best to always be assessed by a physical therapist (like myself) to find the real source of your symptoms and create the best plan of care.
