I was born in San Jose, California, raised in Alaska and grew up in Hawai’i. My first tandem was in 2000 on the North Shore of Oahu and I didn’t think about skydiving again until 2008 when I began my skydiving career. I began Flying camera in 2011 for @skydivehawaii for 3 years. When I left Hawai’i in 2015 to pursue being on a Head Down World Record, who would have thought it would take me to live @skydivechicago and where I would become a tunnel instructor @ifly_naperville and move to instruct at iFLY Phoenix. Since covid....I’ve made my way back west and am enjoying the coastline of Southern California! It’s been such a pleasure to go jump and then surf, something I used to do religiously on the North Shore of Oahu. This is truly a tragedy, we lost Steve. Without question, Steve was one of the sweetest and kindest people I’ve ever known, he was always positive and eager to make the people around him happy. I feel like I’ve known him my whole life, we met in 6th grade and were close ever since. We learned how to play music together, not just at the same time but from playing with each other almost every day for years. I’ll always remember the countless hours of aimless jamming. **Just speaking the truth** **I helped YL (including 2 other organizations) raise money for the YL organization. I didn’t know it tho.. Until I became older and noticed that I was the underprivileged, darker skinned kid, they used as a poster child. For people to open their check books and donate for the next year. I later stopped performing for them. **Fast forward, I was so happy to go back to Malibu (as a leader this time) for the summer. It was my dream! I was always out and when they finally realized that I wouldn’t change. They asked me to step down from, teaching kids music, being a leader to the underprivileged kids, and to adventures, that lead to beautiful places like this one above. **Once, I was also asked to make a testimony about me being “once GAY”. I never said I wasn’t GAY, I thought they understood that I just wasn’t ready to be out fully... Anyways, I said no. This didn’t stop them. Right before I was to perform a song, I was introduced by this white woman who decided to say that I was once gay and that I have found the correct path to God. I wanted to throw up. I still performed in embarrassment and anger. Sadly, this wasn’t the last time. *If anything, I learned to keep on living. That if I was to live the best life I could I needed to not allow the hurt to stop me from doing what I loved. I still love people and God. Of course there is damage. I am working on it just like you. **I was told that God would not bless my path and that only death would come my way. This really broke me. It didn’t keep me tho! *We are not alone is this and we can become who we are and not subject ourselves to others comforts. We deserve to be happy. I hope someone out there who hasn’t fully come out yet. Who is suicidal because of their experiences. That you know you are special and you are not alone. Nintendo Gamecube Park. Whistler. January 2005. Me and @antone.j.c (who I have been riding with for 20 years) were driving from Alaska to Reno in January with a stop in Whistler. It slammed snow the entire trip down. We had a car go off the road right by the border that we had to fix in a shop in Beaver Creek. When we got on the highway at Whitehorse after dinner it started pounding snow. We would later come to find that the highway was closed while we were on it. We drove through the entire night blasting music, blowing through 1 ft snow drifts in our front wheel drive cars, and dodging caribou and buffalo. When we got to Whistler it was two days of partying and riding. Coming from Fairbanks it was crazy to see so many features that were so well manicured. Maxx Fish is dope when you’re 19. When we showed up to Reno a few days later it had dumped four feet of snow in town. We built backyard parks and every film crew from Mack Dawg to Think Thank to FODT showed up. This photo will forever remind me of one of the best feelings and times in my life. Such a fun session with the lil brother @perrys677 and the NY crew. Just a bunch of homies having fun in the purest sense of the word, being stupid, hucking, laughing, and livin. Getting outside and connecting with real positive energy, people and activity is something that cannot ever be supplemented/simulated with the most advanced technology because it’s ancestral and ancient. People are losing the connection more and more each year. Snowboarding or anything outdoors is the best way to unlock your inner potential, connect with others, and expand yourself instead of isolating and shrinking. Coronavirus Update: This year with the Corona Virus situation, we are not sure when the camp will start, if at all. Timberline is anxious to get back open as are we, but that will depend on local health officials. Oregon hasn’t been hit very hard, but maybe it is still coming. We have plenty of snow and lots of room in our lodges. We are taking signups for this summer and have waived our cancellation policy for 2020 so that shouldn’t be an issue. We hope to know more soon. ‘Black as night as the sun goes out with a shimmering light’ - Mike King’s final tweet was on the day I finished my USA run in 2015. He died unexpectedly two days later, September 8th. Mike photographed the North Pole Marathon 10 times and I spread some of his ashes up there in 2016. Each competitor held his picture at the start line. I miss snowboarding and mountains. Fun story though: The first photo is one I took this past summer up at @highcascade of @ben_ferguson for the weekly group photo. The second photo was taken 10 years ago (2010) from when I was a camper at High Cascade (I’m somewhere in the group😂). It was my first time there, flew entirely across the country, and it was the best week of my life. Unfortunately I’m not sure who took that photo. This goofball and I started our relationship 3 years ago today...this was our first photo together. I asked him if he wanted to jump out of a plane with me *in a month* on our third date. That’s why I fell fast in love with Eric...this is my “yes man”. Always down to make things work and go on adventures. And we have been on many adventures together so far. I needed to take more time to reflect on that today. Sometimes I forget to think of all that we have...how lucky we are to have survived what we’ve put ourselves and our relationship through!! In 3 years we have each started our own businesses at the same time (😅), we moved in together after 8 months (also 😅), bought and renovated properties, completely renovated and built out our new places of work, traveled to 5 different countries...but we’ve only jumped out of one plane.
