Obelisco e canhões 📸📜 Foram deixados pelos ingleses aproximadamente 20 canhões no pontal da Trincheira. Os canhões foram rolando para o fundo do mar, na proporção que ia desmoronando o barranco de blocos de piçarro, comido ou tragado pelo mar, e somente quatro dos canhões foram trazidos com muito custo da Trincheira para a cidade no ano de 1890. Dois canhões foram levados para a Praça Martim Afonso de Souza e estão expostos em base de cimento ao lado do Obelisco desde Agosto de 1931, quando Cananéia comemorava com festividades a passagem dos seus quatro centenários de fundação. O terceiro canhão foi levado para o alto do Morro São João e explodiu quando tentavam fazê-lo funcionar. O último canhão foi levado para a cidade de Iguape.
