Among the many sights to see here, this is one of the most popular destinations for both tourists and locals alike. • From the outside, this Taoist temple fully embraces traditional Chinese architecture with its red, multi-level curved rooftops. While Buddhist and Taoist temples often look quite similar from their exterior, youll know its the latter when you spot dragon and tiger statues. • As expected, at the main entrance of this temple, youll notice two white tiger statues and a central, wooden dragon. This color and material difference is based on the Yin (Tiger) Yang (Dragon) balance of the two animals, whose opposite energies collectively create the optimal balance for spiritual protection. • Inside the main doors, youll walk into a sea of red ribbons, inscriptions, and other décor. Regardless of faith, this red emphasis is common in Chinese temples given that it represents luck, joy, and happiness. • According to the original post, it appears this photo was taken on January 25, 2020. This just so happened to be Chinese New Year, arguably the best time to visit this temple, and Chinatown as a whole. • On this day, youll typically encounter much more red décor as shown. It means our pride is not on the line, because God is doing the work, so we can move out of the way and yield to him. Last summer, as I was walking back home from one of @careercurious’s events in Shoreditch, I felt a sparkle in my heart. I know you might think its such a cliché but I had never felt anything similar before (until I hosted my first face-to-face workshops a few weeks ago ✨).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ By meeting other women and listening to their stories I realised that I wasn’t alone. That many other women out there were experiencing the same issues I was going through. They were stuck in a job that wasn’t fulfilling but they were unable to quit, looking for a new career but didn’t know where to start, craving for more creative time to cultivate their passions but couldn’t make the time or all of the above.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As a passionate storyteller and storycatcher, I asked myself: what if I create a space for women writers like me to simply write and just be themselves? Without having someone to validate how good their writing is and whether they can call themselves writers.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I couldn’t find the job I wanted and I had already wasted so much time and energy so it was time to do things differently. It was time to literally create the job of my dream, for me and for other women like me. And there it was, my sparkle, my purpose beating loudly again. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Virginia Wolf’s book A Room of One’s Own and her famous quote about giving women a room of their own to write fiction were my main inspirations. The quote also mentions about money and I’m well aware that having financial stability is extremely important too. There is no good cancer. Regardless of where it is, it is an unexpected journey that you are thrust into and turns your expectations of life upside-down. And yet, there is a gift that you receive,....to embrace how precious life really is and to move forward never forgetting the wake-up call that you’ve been given. Every day as I take my three medications, I am reminded of my journey to today, and grateful for the one that lies ahead of me. I thought that you had to be in a relationship for at least 3 years before you could get engaged. I figured that would be enough time to get to know a person. I thought that people who got married too quickly were getting married for the wrong reasons (I know that was dumb and judgmental). But then I met my now husband. I met him in October 2017 and became friends. We officially started dating on my birthday in January 2018, got engaged December 2018, eloped not even 2 months later, February 2019, and had our wedding celebration on our anniversary February 2020. I learned that there is no time limit on love. Truth is, marriage is a journey. It is impossible to know someone inside and out before you get married because people are always evolving. My in-laws got married after only knowing each other for approx. 3 months. This year they celebrate their 31st wedding anniversary. MORAL: Never put a limit on love and commitment.
