WHY SHOULD YOU CARE ABOUT ESTROGEN? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you’re here, you’re probably at least somewhat interested in hormone health. And so therefor you DEFINITELY need to know about estrogen - ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Estrogens are a group of sex hormones that are crucial for both sexual and reproductive health. Men and women both have them, but in very different amounts. Estrogen is produced in the ovaries and the adrenals and plays a large role in puberty and development of secondary sex characteristics. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Estrogen’s role in women is to do things like increase curves, make hair healthier, help to reduce acne, and regulate the part of the brain that is connected to sexual development. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It has very important jobs in the menstrual cycle of encouraging the growth of the uterine lining during the first part of the cycle and stimulating the production of fertile CM. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The root cause of estrogen imbalance can be lifestyle, diet, toxin exposure, HBC, poor gut health, unhealthy BM’s, to name a few. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Inside of the Cycle Power Masterclass we’re digging into exactly what you need to know about your hormones and when they’re doing what! If you struggle with period problems such as PMS, acne, low libido, breast tenderness, bloating - or anything else - this free class is for you! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ LINK IN BIO ✨🔥 - @caleeshea on Instagram

Good morning! I’m McKenzie, feeding therapist and mom of 2. I wanted to address one of my #1 questions I receive from all of you-choking concerns. If you are worried about baby choking but are very curious about BLW and all it has to offer-start safe and slowly progress! A chewy tube or oral sensory tool can build oral motor skills to teach baby to manage foods before baby needs to actually manage foods! Once baby starts chewing, use it as a dipper for purées. I love the ones from @arktherapeutic, there are also several linked in my Amazon shop. You can also use a hard munchable dipper like a raw celery or carrot stick. This is to practice chew for exploration and not to break off. It should be served as a long, thick stick so baby can hold one end and mouth the other. It will look the same as using a chewy tube :) If this makes you uncomfortable and/or baby has teeth, stick with the dipped chewy tube. I get a lot of questions about these, but they are a fun and inexpensive way to explore a real food in a safe way, assuming baby is just learning to chew and is being supervised. My next favorite tool for parents working on chewing is a stick-shaped meltable like these snap pea crisps. They dissolve like puffs but have more texture. Their long, stick shape allows baby (or you) to hold one end and place it is baby’s back molars so baby can chew and manage easily. Hope this helps ease some anxiety for some of you out there! Keep trying and gaining confidence because a baby-led approach can be so much fun and rewarding! Did you know that balancing your hormones involves so much more then just looking at your hormones? I often get women wondering why a hormone test isn’t enough to assess the root cause of their hormone imbalances. It is because your hormones don’t get through “off” for no reason! Your body works together not as an individual system. Addressing hormone issues without address all of these areas might not get you very far.🤔🤔 .. Impaired gut function can mess with hormones in a variety of ways. Infections, imbalance of bacteria, and leaky gut can contribute to inflammation. Inflammation can impact the function of part of the brain that help trigger hormone production. Dysbiosis can also increase an enzyme in your gut that prevents proper hormone detoxification.🐛🐛 .. HPA axis dysregulation (adrenal issues) is negatively impacted by stress. This stress response has the potential to increase or decrease hormones. I can tell you that just about everyone with hormone imbalances have an underlying HPA axis issue.😣😣 .. Detoxification doesn’t mean doing a cleanse. We detox every second of every day. If the liver is not able to do its proper job hormones can’t get detoxed out of the body properly. The gallbladder is part of it too because it stores bile made by the liver and bile helps eliminate fat soluble toxins including hormones.🥑🥑 .. Blood sugar imbalances can increase insulin which has the potential to up-regulate some enzymes that converts certain hormones. This can lead to things like high estrogen or even high testosterone. 💉💉 .. Fatty acids (omega 3 and omega 6) help make compounds called prostaglandins that can modulate hormone receptor sites and our response to hormones. Too much omega 6 can also contribute to inflammation which is terrible for our hormones. We need both omega fats but they need to be in balance.⚖️⚖️ .. Toxins from things like the environment, beauty products, cleaning products, heavy metals, plastic, etc can act as endocrine destructors and create hormone imbalances.☠️☠️ .. Working to balance your hormones is a whole body job!👍🏽 . . . . . #hormoneimbalances #hormonebalance #guthealthmatters #guthealth #pms #periods - @theorganicdietitian on Instagram

👋Hey there, I’m Bryce @mombrain.therapist I share about motherhood and everyday mental health. I used to finish a week and have a clear idea of what I “did”. I knew how many hours I worked, completed projects around the house, experiences out in the world etc. But a week of parenting might be little more abstract. It can be hard some weeks to feel like I accomplished anything at all at home. Things might be a mess, we have tasks undone and more stuff planned for the weekend. Maybe you feel this way too? If so, I encourage you to step back. To look beneath the “jobs” you fulfill as a parent and instead see the value you provide. Whether you earn an income or not, your contributions to your home and your family are incredibly valuable. What is a way you provided value to your home and family this week? Do you ever struggle with recognizing your contributions? 📚Link in bio for current mini-course offering. #momstrength #kidmemes #mindfulmama #sahmproblems #sahmlife #honestlymothering #gentleparenting #dailymom #instamoms #momblogs #sahmlife #scarymommy #kidslivehere #slowparenting #momtips #momneedsabreak #isitnaptimeyet #momoflittles #momoftoddlers #stayathomemoms #igmotherhood #momlife101 #toddlerhood #momsupport #mindfulmothering #happymomma #momquotes #mommoments #thedaysarelongbuttheyearsareshort #momsbelike - @mombrain.therapist on Instagram

HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT JEANS👖 FOR DIFFERENT BODY TYPE? Part 4: Choosing Footwear for the Jeans . 4: Avoid wearing sneakers with high-waisted jeans Sneakers or athletic shoes tend to look too casual with high-waisted jeans, especially if they are flared. Avoid them and opt for nice sandals or low boots instead. You may be able to pull off sneakers with skinny high-waisted jeans that are a light wash for a spring day out. Before I lived with IBS myself I had always assumed it was just about bloating and embarrassing toilet habits. I never realised how debilitating the anxiety around symptoms, fear of foods, poor body image and all the other stuff that comes with the illness could be. People (doctors included based on personal experience) can be very quick to brush off IBS as they don’t realise the impact it has on our mental health as well as physical. It has the ability to control our lives if we let it, but we have the ability to take that control back. IBS may always be a part of us, but it doesn’t have to be the biggest part - we just need to invest the time into understanding our body and minds and freeing ourselves from the anxiety-symptom cycle. (And of course ‘My Tummy Diary’ can help with that!) 📔✏️ - @youvegutthis on Instagram

When it comes to our mental health it is important that we take time each week to build upon our mental fitness. Not only will this contribute to boosting mood, reducing stress and managing pressure, but it will also help us to be ready to deal with any setbacks which we might face. With everything currently going on in the world we encourage and urge people to try and prioritise their mental health. With more uncertainty comes more anxiety and who knows what will happen over the coming weeks and months. For most of us we engage in a number of daily physical activities all aimed at preventing ill health and staying well. We brush our teeth twice a day, usually eat 3 meals, exercise/stay active and try to get a good nights sleep. All these activities are small reminders of how important it for us to be physically healthy. But what about our mental health? Ask yourself this question What am I doing each day that contributes to me staying mentally fit and healthy?. Dont wait for things to go wrong. Work regularly on your mental fitness and be ready to deal with setbacks. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalfitness #setbacks #wellbeing #anxiety #uncertainty #uncertaintimes #proactive #mentalhealthmatters - @believeperform on Instagram

Ways to cope with labor pains Naturally Hey 👋I’m Brittany! Join me @informed.mommy for more fun pregnancy, birth, and parenting education 💕 These techniques wont stop the pain of contractions, but they might help you feel more relaxed and better able to cope with labor pain. Even if you decide you want pain meds during labor, these are great options to consider and practice before you head to the hospital or in case pain meds are not an option for whatever reason. ✨ Relaxation exercises: Begin by relaxing the muscles of your head and face. Release down your neck, shoulders and arms, down your chest, abdomen, and back, all the way down your legs to your toes. Breathe slowly, releasing more and more with each exhalation ✨ Breathing techniques: breathing should be slow, deep, controlled and conscious or voluntary, not automatic ✨ Walking, moving or changing position ✨ Continuous labor support, either from a doula or a loved one ✨ Touch or massage: Some moms don’t want to be touched during labor and that is OK! ✨ Applying ice packs or heat to your back or other body parts ✨ Hypnosis ✨ Acupuncture and acupressure ✨ Listening to music, dimming the lights, aromatherapy, and other ways of creating a calming birth environment ✨ Water immersion: Studies find that moms who used water immersion during labor were less likely to need epidurals or spinals for pain relief Interested in other options for pain relief? Ever feel like when you try to express a negative emotion to someone it gets shut down with “oh don’t feel that way, you should be happy for all the good things in your life!” Or something along the lines of that... I’ve been seeing this term toxic positivity floating around lately and can definitely see how trying to promote positive growth on social media can turn into something “toxic” especially when our negative emotions aren’t validated or expressed appropriately. Sometimes our friends and family need to vent, and express their emotions, and process bad emotions without being met with responses that may be inspiring the act of suppressing their emotions (obviously we all come from a good place when consoling our confidants). Help your friends and family during this difficult year by responding to their struggles by using some of these tips in this awesome graphic. Or simply just be there and listen, hold space and meet them with empathy and a simple “I’m so sorry, this sucks, I’m here, you’re not alone, what can I do to make you smile”. And most importantly when being on the receiving end of listening to the struggles of a close companion: let them know in order to heal, emotions must be expressed through words, tears, screams, and healthy (non threatening to themselves or others) expressions of feelings by simply vocalizing through words or sounds. Emotional energy needs to be released out of the physical body or else it gets stored and manifests into physical symptoms (pain, tension, illness etc). The more we can support each other, the faster we can heal ❤️ 📷: great graphic by @ourmamavillage - @balanced_babe on Instagram

Thanks to @blessingmanifesting for this ♥ . . September is #PCOSAwarenessMonth so I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little bit about it. PCOS is a hormonal condition where the body produces too many androgens, or male hormones. This causes problems like irregular and super painful periods, insulin resistance, and ovarian cysts for many (but not all) of people with PCOS and a lot of other symptoms.⠀ ⠀ My wife has #PCOS and its weve had so many discussions about how difficult it is not only on a physical level - but an emotional/mental one as well, which has been the hardest for her. ⠀ ⠀ PCOS often comes along with hirsutism, or excessive hair growth. Some people with PCOS can grow facial hair, even full beards (she can, and its a mighty fine looking one! One of the positives of wearing a mask out in public is less shaving!) But when she was younger shed shave her face twice a day just so that no one would see.⠀ ⠀ So many of the symptoms have a HUGE impact on your self-esteem and your body image and they arent often talked about. Infertility is probably the most talked about symptom but there are so many others. Hair growth on arms backs, chest, and stomach. Skin tags, acne, and dark patches of skin are also signs of PCOS, as well as weight gain and difficulty losing weight. Hormonal imbalances often cause mood swings, depression, anxiety, headaches, and insomnia as well.⠀ ⠀ If youre experiencing a significant number of these symptoms talk to your doctor.⠀ ⠀ #pcosaa #pcosproblems #pcoscommunity #polycysticovariansyndrome #polycysticovarysyndrome #pcosresearch #pcosresources #pcossupport #cysterstrong #cysterhood #pcosawarenessmonth #pcosfighter #pcoswarrior #pcoslife #pcoslifestyle #pcossymptoms #pcoshealth #pcosawarenessmonth2020 - @cystersgroup on Instagram

CEREBRAL PALSY 💚 notes Here is the diagram I made for the very first clinical condition we learned about in OT school—cerebral palsy! (And scroll for some faces of CP) CP is a group of clinical syndromes that affect movement, muscle tone & coordination. There are 3 main types of CP, with 3 subtypes of Spastic CP. The type of CP presented depends on the area of damage in the developing brain. One thing I found interesting is that cerebral palsy is 70% more prevalent in middle to lower income areas, and much more common in black children—most likely due to lack of access to prenatal medical care and education. Diagram hand-drawn on @procreate with the #applepencil. Information from Conditions in Occupational Therapy (5th ed.), images from cerebralpalsyguidance.com Feel free to save and/or share! What are you focusing on?🧐 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is something I commonly see when I start working with clients, and I am guilty of it myself: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We have a tendency to focus on what we are NOT doing instead of giving ourselves credit for what we have accomplished. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Focusing on what we haven’t done can make us feel unmotivated or like we are a failure. We tend to beat ourselves up which only pushes us into a negative mindset around making healthful changes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you fall into this trap, try switching it up➡️focus on what you HAVE done and use that as motivation to improve your consistency so you can keep progressing towards your health and weight loss goals💃🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your mindset is HUGE for achieving goals, unfortunately it’s often overlooked. Mindset is one of the key areas I focus on when helping women achieve their health and weight loss goals. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you are struggling with getting into a mindset that HELPS you get to your goals, click the link in my bio to apply for my 3 month coaching program📲 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - @healthy.strong.weightloss on Instagram

Did you know that the average adult can only identify 3 emotions? Happy, sad angry? That might explain why its so difficult to talk about our emotions, we simply dont have the language. And right now, Ive been having a LOT of feelings - and from what I hear Im not alone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Theres fear, anxiety, uncertainty - will I ever be able to travel freely again? Plus overwhelm, powerlessness and anger - whats wrong with the world? But also a lot of gratitude, joy, curiosity and creativity - my friends and community are awesome! - Its a lot and we need to talk about this. So we need the language. Recently I learned about the Feelings Wheel during one of the amazing Eco Talks Workshops our lovely member Sophia Cheng @withmanyroots has been running in the DNG Inner Circle (this one was a collab with Naira Bonilla from @traversing_life). This wheel is an amazing tool to help us express our emotions and talk about whats going on in our hearts and minds. We’re not static beings, we’re always making new cells, even as we’re just sitting here. At any time, no matter how much old programming you may have, you always have the potential to literally change your mind. Each cell in our body is constantly vibrating, often in several different shapes, and our receptors vibrate as well. It’s a dance that’s constantly taking place in our bodies, and every cell is talking to every other cell in a rhythmic, ongoing way. In fact, the frequencies of your cells are even in sync with the audible sounds around you, which is why music and words can be very healing. Every cell is a mirror. Since emotions run every system in the body, don’t underestimate their power to treat and heal. This is why you have to take a functional medicine approach to truly heal from dis-ease. #trulyheal #healthcoach #healthcoaching #healthandwellnesscoach #wellnesscoaching #functionalmedicine #naturopathicmedicine #healthpractitioner #coach #lifestylecoach #rootcauses #causefinding #career #passion #psychology #bodymindspirit #mentalhealth #emotional #growth #neuroscience #neurons #biology #cells #healing #disease - @trulyheal on Instagram

According to a recent study, using adult speech with a different cadence boosts language development. 🟣 Speaking slower, using higher highs and lower lows appears to be beneficial. Use proper words and grammar with a different cadence. In essence, you are simply exaggerating your intonation. 🟡 This way of talking is referred to as parentese which can be boiled down to: using a higher pitch, use higher highs and lower lows and make happy, excited sounds. Speak slower so the little guy has a chance to respond. 𝙄 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙚 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙖 𝙗𝙖𝙗𝙮. 12 Tips for Making Million-Dollar Decisions . 1. Decide to escape the status quo. When we refuse to decide, that’s a decision. So ask yourself, am I going to continue on with the status quo or am I going to move forward? . 2. Set your long-term vision. Once you have a clear vision, all the other decisions become much easier and you can really quickly tell if the decision is moving you in the direction you want to go or not. . 3. Take your time. Yes, we seriously mean take your time and don’t rush when a big decision comes your way. . 4. Sometimes, good is good enough and done is better than perfect. . 5. Understand the root cause of why you’re hesitating. . 6. Map out why, how and what you want to achieve. . 7. Try to follow your gut instinct and move rapidly when you see an opportunity. Based on your past experiences and gut instinct you will be able to gauge the risk and make a big decision in 5 to 10 minutes. Seriously. . 8. Stop chasing perfection. . 9. Make a pro-con list to evaluate what could happen, for better and for worse. Then make a decision and don’t look back! . 10. To make a decision more manageable, break it down into smaller pieces. You can make calculated decisions by breaking down big decisions so that you can test, evaluate and modify as needed to keep moving forward, reduce risk and adjust quicker. . 11. Remove little decisions so that you can focus on big decisions. Don’t waste your valuable mental energy on small things. Consider outsourcing to experts -- for example, hire a chef or a healthy meal delivery service, so you don’t have to decide what to eat on a daily basis. . 12. Surround yourself with like-minded people that you can bounce ideas off of and get feedback from. Not all decisions have to be made alone. It’s okay to have help! Your immune system is directly impacted by the choices you make everyday. Reposted from Plant-based Rheumatologist @myautoimmunemd You can build a strong immune system. It is possible. But you have to work on it every week. You cant live an unhealthy lifestyle and one day decide that you will work on these for several days and go back to being unhealthy. Living life to the fullest needs these factors to be worked on. All these factors have to be focused on every single day. 🔹 A diet built around fruits and vegetables is the key to maintaining a strong military in your body 🔹 You need 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night 🔹 At least 150 minutes of exercise per week 🔹 Manage your stress by meditating, reading the Bible, engage in your hobbies 🔹 Make sure your relationships are healthy or else get out of them 🔹 Avoid drugs and smoking, it negates all the above if you use any of those substances Make a checklist. Did you know that you hold your tension in your vagina? That’s right, I said it. Are you doing all 3 of these things? I feel like if one of them is missing, this whole PCOS healing journey takes a lot longer and is a lot messier. For a long time I really didnt understand MY body. I was trying medicines that helped lower testosterone, when I didnt even have high testosterone. And I was feeling super bummed when these medicines did nothing. Getting proper testing and taking the results to a naturopath helped SO much. And tracking my symptoms helped me to realise when supplements were or werent working. Another thing that gets me is prioritising my health. I honestly prioritise my health almost all the time. But life is life and sometimes things get away from you. I use my PCOS Journal to help me prioritise my health but there were periods of time last year where I didnt use my journal and boy did my health suffer. It wasnt just that my journal helps me understand whats going on with my body, but even just the simple act of dedicating that 5 minutes where I fill it in is SO important for me. It keeps me connected to my body and that has been essential for my healing. I go into my whole journey from diagnosis to motherhood and how these 3 essential things have helped me, in my new blog post. Link in my bio. Ever feel like the more you diet and the harder you exercise, the harder it is to get and/or keep the weight off? . Well, there is a scientific reason for this. . Most women spend their whole lives at war with their body- constantly punishing, restricting, hating, picking apart or trying to change it. . Their body becomes their enemy and every healthy action is taken for an underlying ulterior motive of trying to look a different way or become a different person. . All the while, its really the mindset that needs a shift. . You cant heal a body you hate. . A body doesnt feel safe when it is treated like the enemy and neither do you. . Constantly being at war with yourself is a STRESSFUL state of being. . A stressed out body prepares for the worst- it likes to store fuel for later. . Fat is stored fuel for later. . Nourished women and women focused on honoring their bodies do not always want to stay at the same weight or size that they are at. . However, they are content to give their body the space it needs to look what it needs to look like while it heals. . They know that each action they take to listen, honor and nourish will build up overtime to create a completely different body on the inside- and this will inevitably lead to a change on the outside. . I often find that when this mindset shift occurs, immense stress is taken off of womens shoulders. . They no longer have to stress and obsess about weight loss and give themselves permission to just LIVE- regardless of their weight or size. . And interestingly- less stress, less extremes and long-term consistency usually equals a healthier body fat %. . Hi! Im Dr. Hina Talib, a teen specialist and mom sharing tween, teen, & young adult health tips to get us all through this pandemic. Join my #teenhealth tribe; follow 👉🏼 @teenhealthdoc for more. I asked for your tips in my stories on how to help facilitate check-ins & conversations with your teens, here are your suggestions. 👩🏻💻Teens, what do you think? These tips go both ways. Parenting is a relationship after all & Im curious if these would help you to share your thoughts/feelings with your families. Some thoughts: ✔️ Create a safe space to check-in, starting by asking your teen if they are up for a chat. Involving them deciding the when/where/how helps. ✔️Chatting when side by side instead of face to face came up a lot. This makes sense. ✔️I heard this great advice about checking in recently. Ask if the person wants to vent or wants advice before jumping in with your thoughts. ✔️Seems to me if I had to pick one family skill that I hear is most helpful towards getting through this pandemic (and beyond) its communication. The good thing is that communication skills can be practiced & improved and if you are really struggling therapy can help. Pediatricians like myself can also help foster open communication with your teen at visits. ❤️ Double tap the graphic if this was helpful ❤️ and share away! 👉🏼What would you add? Let’s play a little game shall we….🧠 How many of these things above could you cross out that need some Vitamin R (Rest, Recovery, Relaxation) and how many of these things are habits you just don’t want to but truly need to change… Migraines and headaches are one of our body’s many amazing ways to communicate with us and alert us when something is off or needed👍🏻 I won’t lie to you, I can almost G U A R A N T E E that these are some of the MAJOR causes of your migraines and headaches. My personal recommendation: pick and choose the habits that you need to change and the things you may need to heal and get to work! I suffered with chronic migraines for a very long time in college. For me, it was a mix of diet, abuse of Adderall, anxiety, dysfunctional elimination pathways, poor posture and seating (still is), stress and anxiety, and let’s be real sugar and alcohol. I never thought I could figure out what was causing it but it was truly right in front of my eyes. I know it can be a frustrating process, but healing is never just easy. I can promise that it is worth it. Try being your own detective (and or get health from a health care professional) before just ignoring it and reaching for the advil. When it comes to social media are you: Blaming? Complaining? Wanting? Worrying? Comparing?! Oooh CUTIE PIE, we’ve got some reframing to do! Negativity is inviting because, well, it’s easy. But easy ain’t getting ya nowhere. Let’s SHIFT. Instead of blaming the algorithm, take a look at your content. What are your top performing posts? What are your lowest performing posts? Take note, and also TALK to your community. What do they want to see more of and what do they enjoy the most? Instead of complaining about engagement, ask yourself: are you giving the engagement that you hope to receive? Often times we complain that no one is commenting on our posts, but when was the last time YOU spent time giving out genuine engagement? Instead of always wanting more more more when it comes to followers, switch your thoughts to being appreciative of the people who you already have. If you’re only focused on the the people you don’t have, you’ll never foster the necessary connections with the people you do have. Instead of worrying that the market is oversaturated, think, holy cow, if there are lots of people doing this, that means there is a demand for it! I can do this too and bring my own unique perspective to it. Instead of comparing your chapter 1 to someone else’s 57, remember that everyone was a beginner. No one had it figured out from the start. Make mistakes. Fall down, get back up. Need to detox? Been told that you need to detox? 🍵💊 Well, great news! Your body has you covered. ✅ If you have a healthy liver, kidneys, lungs and colon, then your body is detoxing at this very moment 🙌🏻. ⭐️The liver: THE COOLEST organ IMO, is the primary filtration system and processes toxins and prepares them for removal. What’s so cool about the liver? It can regenerate itself. Yes, you read that right. If you were to cut off a piece of your liver it would grow back 😳. Can you do that? ⭐️The kidneys: Filter the blood once more and excrete waste products from the body. ⭐️The lungs: Move fresh, oxygenated air into the body and remove waste gases like carbon dioxide. They also protect the body from harmful substances via filtering and causing coughing, sneezing or swallowing. ⭐️The colon: Excretes toxins and other products that were not excreted by the kidneys. Your body processes everything you put into it daily without the help of ‘detox’ products. The diet industry makes b i l l i o n s 💰on detox and skinny teas, juice cleanses, detox shakes, activated charcoal products, detox supplements, cleansing powders and more. And did you know that most of them are not ❌ regulated by the FDA and have not been adequately tested for efficacy? If you are bogged down 🙇🏾, fatigued 🥱, or not feeling well 🤢 from something you ate (or drank) you don’t need a cleanse or a detox, you need to nourish your body with the foods that will make you feel good and let your organs do what they do best 😉. - @ashleybrdn on Instagram

Over the past few days, I’ve been struggling and having dealt with mental health problems for a long time, I’ve learnt to recognise the signs that I’m finding things harder than usual. I can’t really pinpoint what’s wrong, I just don’t feel right. I’ve been finding it hard to get up in the mornings, I’ve had panic attacks (something I haven’t experienced in months), my thoughts have felt completely uncontrollable. If you’re going through a difficult time at the moment, you’re not alone. I’m not sure what the answers are, this account has never been about giving advice and telling people how to be happy, it’s about me being honest, sharing my experiences, sharing things that have helped me, reminding you that you’re not alone. I am struggling at the moment, but that’s okay. And if you’re struggling, that’s okay. You will get through this. Recognising you are struggling is the first important step in helping yourself feel better💚 - @worrywellbeing on Instagram

WHAT IS A 2-MONTH OLD WORKING ON? •••• Posted from the amazing @healthiest_baby “Two-month olds are such sweet little creatures. Babies wake up to the world around them and begin to socialize. You can have little conversations with them and share smiles. They are also busy building muscle strength. You’ll notice most 2-month olds can lift their head when on their tummy. Typically, the back of neck strength develops first. Your baby is gaining control over her extremities. Her movements are less jerky and more with purpose, such as reaching for something they want. A 2-month old’s brain is growing quickly. It’s a good time to provide stimulating experiences which can be as easy as talking to your baby about what you’re doing. You can move away from black and white and focus on bright primary colors. Provide plenty of free time for your baby to move his body freely and explore his world. A comfortable, warm, place on the floor is ideal. Think about the world from your baby’s perspective and provide bright interesting views. Your face close-up is one of the best ways to make your baby happy. 𝙄𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙣 𝘼𝙒𝙀𝙎𝙊𝙈𝙀 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚? Fatphobia is the intense fear or dislike of fat itself, becoming fat and/or fat bodies. Fatphobia shows up in pop culture where fat jokes are still somehow considered “humorous” television, in the medical profession where a person’s whole picture of health is dismissed & told to “just lose weight”, and even in the hiring process where people in larger bodies face immense amounts of bias & discrimination when searching for employment opportunities. Here are some ways YOU can help fight fatphobia in our culture: 1. Stop praising weight loss. 2. Stop commenting on people’s bodies, at all. 3. Opt for accessible seating if you have an office or waiting room at work. This means seats with no arms that can accommodate all kinds of bodies. 4. Check your own biases against fat people. Question how they got there. Do the work to dismantle them. 5. Diversify your feed & follow more fat activists and people of larger bodies, in general. Here are some amazing accounts to get started: @stephanieyeboah @curvynyome @meg.boggs @iamdaniadriana @danielleisanxious @bopopeaches @thefatphobiaslayer @ragenchastain @bodyimagewithbri 6. Lastly, SPEAK OUT against fatphobia when you hear or see it. Use your voice. Especially if you have the privilege of living in a thin body. I include myself in this category. There are so many more manifestations of fatphobia in our culture than I’m able to write here. What other examples have you witnessed or experienced? And just a reminder, this page is meant as an escape, an ANTIDOTE, to our fatphobic culture. If you bring any of that into the comments, I will block or delete them. Its my birthday week and birthdays always make me think about where Ive been and where Id like to go. When it comes to my business - you can see that all my pivots really show that creative entrepreneurship is a journey with... Twists, turns, and amazing things that you never thought would happen. There are also tear & wine-fueled calls to your business BFFs, facing fears you didnt even know you had, trying new things, and beating imposter syndrome (before it pops up again). Then theres leaving room for whats next. Being open to it. And letting some of your (err, my) controlling tendencies go just a little bit so that things can happen as they should. Oh did I mention you may find that mindset plays a huge part in your business journey? Anyhoo - it hasnt always been easy, but I wouldnt take any of it back. Id love to hear from you: Where are you at in your business journey? Are you just starting? About to pivot into something completely new? - @_joycechristine on Instagram

Rest = Adaptation . . Stress + Rest = Growth . . You’ll only get stronger if you take the time to rest. Athletes know this intrinsically, but a lot of athletes fear rest days. They don’t like to sit still. They feel like they will lose fitness. Or, if they force themselves to sit still for too long, they will have to come face-to-face with feelings that they have been habitually suppressing through constant movement. Do any of these sound familiar? . . Rest is SO GOOD for our bodies and our souls, but many of us spend a lot of our lives trying to avoid it. Eventually, avoiding rest will catch up with us. Too much exercise and not enough rest actually has a detrimental effect on both mental and physical health. So, try to examine your feelings about rest and see what comes up. Try resting a little more and see how it makes you feel physically and mentally. Odds are, a little more rest will do you more good than harm. 😴💪 . . . . . . #athletementalhealth #athletemotivation #athletemindset #athletementality #sportpsychology #sportpsych #restisbest #anxietysupport #anxietyawareness #anxietyrelief #growth #restday #restdayfeels #restdays #restdaybrags - @athletemindspace on Instagram

⭐️Reframing On the topic of adjustment and readjustment we also need to talk about reframing our thinking. It’s important to sometimes take a step back and think about our thinking. Sounds like a silly way to say that but it is what it is! How many times in a day do you catch yourself telling yourself a narrative about your day, the people around you, your life, or your circumstances? And how many of those thoughts are actually becoming your reality? These are important questions to ask because we have the ability to choose to reframe our thinking patterns. I’ve listed out a couple of common ones that we have all thought and we may all be thinking especially during this year. Learning how to reframe the thought is a great way to validate your initial thought and also allow yourself some compassion and patience. I don’t practice the idea of getting rid of any particular thoughts completely, rather to acknowledge that they are there and it is normal – while also working on how we can create those thoughts to be more productive. What are your opinions/insights about reframing? What is challenging or helpful? Happy Monday! Let’s talk about anxiety ⚡️ What isn’t talked about enough is that just as any other symptom or health related issue that arises, with anxiety our body is speaking to us. Whether your anxiety is brought on by specific stressors or seems to be non specific and ever present, there is a health picture painted inside your body and accompanied by other symptoms. There is ALWAYS a root cause. This is not everything but a great deal of the root causes (likely a combination of what is listed above) contributing to your experience of magnified and prolonged anxiety that doesn’t seem to end or be alleviated. I went through a whole host of prescription anxiety medications when I was a kid and to no avail did they “heal me”. My pediatrician never spoke about things as these root causes. I always felt there was something inherently wrong with me which I know our health care system has a habit of doing to many of us! And let me tell you this is simply not the case... you are a beautiful and extraordinary human and it is your INHERENT RIGHT to feel healthy and achieve the picture of health you desire. Once I learned to HEAL the root causes of my symptoms, I feel like a million bucks. While working on all of these things, I woke up one day and the anxiety just seemed to disappear. Remember though it is not that simple and this is a healing PROCESS. What I can tell you is that there are so many little things in your life that may seem minuscule that are definitely contributing to your anxiety. Overall four major things are true in terms of lessons we can learn from the body when it comes to anxiety... 🤍The body is experiencing inflammation in some way shape or form somewhere or everywhere. 🤍The body is deficient in proper sleep, various nutrients and minerals. (If you want to learn something really cool and important google the “glymphatic system” newer research your brain’s way of clearing out toxins during sleep and highly connected to disease pathology) 🤍The body is stressed and overstimulated due to routine or major life stressors. 🤍The gut, endocrine system, or any other major organ or organ system is disrupted. - @theholistic.honey on Instagram

There’s nothing like experiencing life along with your little one through some of the most fun (and hilarious) stages ever. Of course, as our babies grow into toddlers, their minds grow more creative, and they become master negotiators. Bedtime can become the enemy for many kids, taking away all of the relaxation you earned from sleep training so long ago. Here are some of our top tips for successful toddler sleep. Don’t forget…we work with children up to 4 years old! 1. Keep the nap as long as possible: Does this really need an explanation? 😂 2. Get outside: This is crucial for kids. Being outside not only wears their little bodies out, but they receive the vitamins needed to allow them to sleep well at night. 3. Watch what they eat: When our clients buy a sleep package, we ask them to keep a sleep and feeding log for three consecutive days. What’s best is fresh, organic, non-processed, healthy food (with no dyes), when possible. This allows for less wakings in the night and less night terrors. 4. Don’t force the transition out of the crib: Making this transition when your toddler isn’t ready creates a whole new set of sleep issues. Like #1, hold out as long as you can! 5. Watch out for negotiations: Toddlers try to take control of the situation as they are prepared to be away from you. As endearing as this is, remember you are the parent and need to keep the situation relaxed and in control. 6. Less is more when it comes to night wakings: Toddlers need less talking, less stimulation and less of you lying next to them to get them to sleep. One of our favorite approaches for those highly stimulated children is to grab your video monitor, and speak into it to reassure them they are fine and you are keeping an eye on them. 7. Have a “potty plan”: Cut off water 30-60 minutes before bed, and make sure they go potty before getting in bed. That’s it. If they wet the bed, be prepared with extra sheets. 8. Buy a toddler clock, and follow through: Give them clear expectations as to what time they are allowed to come out of their rooms — we love the OK to Wake! clock. - @thecradlecoach on Instagram

LET’S TALK ABOUT 💩 BABY Sorry not sorry for bringing up a topic that is applicable to literally EVERYONE ON PLANET EARTH. Did you know IBS is TWO-THREE times more common in women than in men? Yup. 🙄 IBS is sometimes a label we get slapped with when they can’t figure out what’s really wrong with our digestion. Regardless, there are many things we can do on our end to prevent flare ups and take better care of our little tum tums 🙌 MY TOP GUT HEALTH TIPS: 🚩MIX UP YOUR DIET: Do you tend to eat the same things often? Yeah, that’s gonna be a “nah” for your gut, bro. See, your gut bacteria thrive off diversity and want to munch on allllll different kinds of things. So, make sure you’re getting in a wide variety of different foods all the time 🚩ALL HAIL FIBER: The average American’s fiber intake is pitifully low. How’s yours, eh?! I recommend doing a little tracking on the app My Fitness Pal and see where you end up after a few days. I recommend at least 35 grams of the good stuff PER DAY 🚩PROBIOTIC POWER: Probiotics are powerhouses when it comes to your digestion! A little goes a long way, so don’t think you have to go swimming a bowl of kimchi. Although that sounds kinda 💣...anyway, add in some probiotic-rich foods ERREDAY for best results There ya have it— happy Monday & cheers to better 💩 my loves. What about you?! *Baby Blues Vs. Postpartum Depression* ☔️What are the baby blues? A very common phenomenon that beginsin the week following childbirth and can last until a baby is 10 to 14 days old. Caused by sudden hormonal and chemical changes in the female body post-childbirth. Common symptoms: • Low mood • Anxiety and/or restlessness • Feeling irritable, touchy or grumpy • Recurrent and/or sudden crying spells • Feeling emotional and/or overwhelmed 🌟While these symptoms might be distressing, they are a completely normal part of the postpartum experience and often pass in a few days. ☔️🌧What is postpartum depression? Postpartum depression is a common and affects more than 1in10 women within a year of childbirth. The symptoms usually develop within 2-8 weeks of giving birth, but they can begin up to 1year after the birth of a baby. 👉🏼Some common symptoms include: • Moderate to severe low mood • Loss of interest in daily tasks and activities • Thoughts of self-harm and/or suicide • Mood swings • Sleep and/or appetite disturbances • Difficulty bonding with and/or caring for your baby ⁉️How do I know if I have the baby blues or postpartum depression? Generally, your symptoms are more likely to be linked with postpartum depression if they are: • Severe • Lasting for longer than two weeks • Interfering with your ability to function (e.g. eat and sleep) • Interfering with your ability to bond with and/or take care of your baby 📢How do I get help? The first step in getting help is to contact an appropriate healthcare professional, (e.g. healthcare visitor, midwife or GP) who will advise on the appropriate treatment (or combination of treatments) for individual symptoms. Treatment options include: self-help strategies (e.g. joining local parent-and-baby groups; talking therapies (counseling); and/or medication (anti-depressants). ⛔️⛔️⛔️If, at any point, you feel unable to take care of yourself and/or your baby OR you have any thoughts about harming yourself, or baby and/or suicide, you MUST seek urgent help eg A&E/ 999⛔️⛔️⛔️ 🖥For helpful charities and resources as well as loads more info on treatment check the blog post Did you experience this? 👇🏼 - @theobgynmum on Instagram

I was working at a “dream job” when I started to spiritually wake up. I was 23 years old at the time, making upwards of 6 figures working for a utility company. I thought that I had really “made it.” But something felt like it was missing from my life. I was driving in my in my work truck one day and I heard this voice start speaking to me. There was no one else in the truck with me and I thought “am I going crazy? Who the hell is that talking to me?” I just kept hearing the words “Jake it’s time to wake up and get to work.” I thought “I am already at work what do you mean get to work?” The voice kept getting louder and louder... As the days went on, I started questioning everything that I had been conditioned to believe. I felt like most everything I had been taught was a lie and designed to keep me in a system so I would stay “asleep.” I spent most of my life operating in ego consciousness. It was all about “me” When I started to awaken, I transitioned from “me” to “we” This is when I started to connect to the voice of my soul. Have you heard this voice? Would you like to learn more about this? I am doing a free training this Saturday morning and would love to have you join. Click the link in my bio to grab your seat before it fills up! PCOS is caused by a number of risk factors: 🔹Genes: Studies have linked genetics with PCOS. 🔹Hormonal imbalances: An imbalance in the body of the hormones insulin and androgens causes the symptoms and signs of PCOS such as irregular periods and infertility. 🔹High levels of androgens: Higher than normal androgen levels in women can prevent the ovaries from releasing an egg (ovulation) during each menstrual cycle, and can cause extra hair growth and acne. 🔹Excess insulin: Insulin resistance is when the body’s cells do not respond normally to insulin. As a result, your insulin blood levels become higher than normal. Many women with PCOS have insulin resistance, especially those who are overweight or obese, have unhealthy eating habits, do not get enough physical activity, and have a family history of diabetes (usually type 2 diabetes). 🔹Obesity: Being obese worsens insulin resistance and triggers PCOS. Excess weight increases both the hormones responsible for PCOS symptoms. 🔹Sedentary lifestyle & Nutritional deprivation: The increasing prevalence of PCOS in young adults can straightaway be correlated to a sedentary lifestyle and lack of nutritional food. Lack of exercise, weight gain and obesity lead to metabolic imbalances. Diet has been found to be a contributing factor for PCOS. Fats and proteins from one’s diet can form advanced glycation end products (AGEs) when exposed to sugar in the bloodstream. These compounds are known to contribute to increased bodily stress and inflammation, which have been linked to diabetes and cardiovascular disease. 🔹Low grade inflammation: Inflammation is caused by obesity, higher androgen levels in women thus leading to PCOS. . #dietunpluggedbytareshi #dietunplugged #pcos #pcosawareness #pcosawarenessmonth #causesofpcos #food #nutrition #diet #health #wellness #goodhealth #wellnbeing #healthy #lifestyle #healthylifestyle #exercise #fitness #holistichealth - @dietunpluggedbytareshi on Instagram

Curious as to how a normal labor typically progresses? Hey 👋I’m Brittany! Join me @informed.mommy for more fun pregnancy, birth, and parenting education 💕 Although every labor is different, most of them follow the same sequence of events. Here’s the breakdown of how each labor usually progresses, and tune in every day this week where I will go into more detail for each of the 4 Stages! ✨Stage 1: Dilation The first stage of labor starts when you begin to feel regular contractions. The first stage is the longest of the three stages and is actually divided into three different phases: 👉Phase 1: Early 0-6 cm (Some sources say 0-3 or 0-4 cm, but new ACOG studies show 6 cm) 👉Phase 2: Active 6-8 cm 👉Phase 3: Transition 8-10 cm ✨Stage 2: Pushing Your body goes from dilating to pushing as Baby makes its way down through the pelvis. This phase can last from 15 minutes to several hours. ✨Stage 3: Placenta The placenta is typically delivered in 5 - 30 minutes, but the process can last as long as an hour. You will feel some mild contractions but most moms are so focused on their babies that they don’t notice much else going on. ✨Stage 4: Recovery After the placenta is delivered, you will continue to have contractions as your uterus works to return to normal size. If you are planning on breastfeeding, it is highly encouraged soon after birth. Nursing right after birth will help your uterus to contract and will decrease the amount of bleeding. Check back tomorrow for more info on the first Stage of Labor!
