И если собственный шоппинг я, конечно, стараюсь уводить от количества к качеству, но свести к нулю вряд ли получится, то новорожденному от избытков текстиля какой прок?Малышу вообще-то лучше всего skin to skin, поближе и поплотнее к маме. А мамам почему-то нравится наслаивать слои...Вобщем, я пока резистирую и нахожусь на минимальном списке, что в роддоме рекомендуют. The exact moment you meet your first child, everything changes. From that second, every single decision you make runs through the filter, “how will this effect my kids?” You wake up exhausted, you fall asleep exhausted but not just from the hard work. The amount of love you feel for them is exhausting in the best way. I am lucky enough to have experienced two healthy deliveries, but I also know loss. Every single day I think about who that child would have been. All of the joyful moments with my healthy babies comes with a brief flash of sadness. It never leaves you. When you become a mother, life stops being about you. It’s about bringing love and life for the babies who are here and savoring the love you still feel for the ones you’ve lost. From the get-go, 2020 has meant change for NSW Sapphire Coasts @eastwoodsbermagui. Throughout the bushfires earlier this year Kellys Deli and Cooking School was converted into a Disaster Relief Kitchen, where Kelly and a team of 270 volunteers made over 46,000 meals feeding firefighters, evacuees and displaced locals in surrounding communities. When the fires were over, Kellys business got back up and running only to be shut down again by the dreaded virus and she was forced to rethink her business model once more for the year ahead. At @nutbournevineyards , our family vineyard in West Sussex, wine harvest has been ongoing over the past couple of weeks. Where theyve been picking grapes from Bacchus, to Riesling family varietals, to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The 10 hectares of land is carefully managed to preserve its natural habitat. Every year we produce 40,000 bottles. Since the opening of The Shed in 2012, weve seen an exciting uptake in interest and joy in English wine. Its certainly the perfect pairing for our menu, given our ethos of what grows together, goes together. Found some phenomenal pairings for spicy Ethiopian/Eritrean food 🇪🇷 🥘 🇪🇹 all from natural wine shop @vinonrose 💖 Beer (Sewa in Eritrea) is always a safe bet: Dig My Earth’s hazy IPA 👌🏾 For wine, an unfiltered, zesty, and low alcohol white can calm spices. Alice Buvot’s Ivre de Vivre is just that, with a balanced body as it’s 100% Viognier. Low tannin, crisp, chilled reds are hella refreshing, and if it’s Pinot Noir, the fruit character really complements spice. I picked two from Alsace: Kumpf et Meyer’s 100% Pinot, and Rietsch Tout Rouge which has a little Pinot Gris giving it a light vibrancy. Of course, you can also go with an off-dry sparkling or still wine (Riesling, Chenin, Juicy pet-nat). We’ve become aware of a potential water quality issue affecting 88 suburbs due to electrical damage caused by storms overnight. The water comes from closed catchments and has been mixed with disinfected water so the likelihood of any illness being caused is low. But we believe it is better to be safe than sorry. As a precautionary measure, we’re advising residents in those suburbs to boil their water before they drink – residents should bring water to a rolling boil before drinking, washing and preparing food, preparing baby formula, brushing teeth and making ice until further notice. We are working with Melbourne Water and DHHS and will confirm when the boiled water notice is withdrawn. If you have already drunk the water, there is a low risk of potential gastro type of illness. People should contact their GP if this occurs. 6️⃣ It’s no secret that I am so very passionate about what I do in life. My passion runs deep for the work we put in, about the art my team puts out into the world, about the memories & the experiences create along the way... Hard to backseat pretty much everything else, while nearly everyone else was bored and/or stuck at home in some way or another — I have been here tapping away to some 170+ of our brides that need new dates, keeping our studio clients in the loop about a re-open day, & keeping my team focused for return to work, in a whole new way. . The mental ping pong & the chaos came to a pause a few weeks ago: We experienced some excitement, & peaceful smiles for the first time in months. A super fun gold envelope landed in our mailbox from @lvstylemag . We got a call from a helpful neighbor letting us know about a Facebook post in @ryeryebrookmoms that mentioned the families affected by the fires in Port Chester were in need of kitchen items and toiletries. Our operations team members, Jake and Frank, quickly got these items together and stayed late this past Friday to deliver a van full of personal care supplies like toothbrushes, toothpaste and deodorant from our retail recovery program. Currently in Napa where as many of you know, the Glass Incident fire has been particularly destructive. I have been in contact with several winemakers and vintners. While the fire started at the base of Howell Mountain and then moved west across St Helena, nearly everyone in the valley is affected, either directly or through family, friends and colleagues. Yesterday I ate lunch next to people who had to flee Calistoga. My hotel has filled in with other displaced folks. Prominent businesses and wineries have been destroyed or damaged. Others are without power and water. And it all comes during harvest when a year’s worth of hard work is at its most fragile moment. Roads are closed and checkpoints are keeping non-essential folks out of the way. I am trying to maneuver around to get a first hand look, but I will not get in the way or cause undue interference for those who need to be on the scene. Our head of ethics research, Stuart Palmer, says we should be very concerned that the Australian government’s ‘gas-led recovery’ will make achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 even harder. “We need further investment into renewables and energy efficiency and storage to drive our transition to a 1.5-degree world. Instead we’re being asked to believe that gas can both stimulate the economy and reduce carbon emissions. “But this gas boom spruiked by the gas sector will only exacerbate not mitigate climate change. “IPCC scenarios show gas use needs to decline this decade to achieve the objectives of the Paris Agreement to limit warming to 2 and then to 1.5 degrees. Opening up vast new unconventional gas fields instead is the gas equivalent of Adani Carmichael. “We have an enormous opportunity for an Australian green hydrogen and steel industry, powered by Australian renewables. There is a real risk that this opportunity will be frustrated by Santos and other gas companies looking for government funding to develop unproven carbon capture and storage technology. Why use public money for that when we already have the renewables technology to produce hydrogen - without creating more carbon that needs to be captured? “Hydrogen produced by renewables, not by gas, is where we should be investing as investors, companies and governments. “We want see a 2050 net-zero emissions target date and a price on carbon emissions. This will drive the investment and innovation to deliver the urgently needed reductions in emissions as efficiently as possible. 3 years ago my friends @pascalinelepeltier & @nkendallwine shared the most avant-garde wine project I’ve encountered to this day - their idea was to bring back to notoriety the hybrid grapes of the Finger Lakes Catawba and Delaware and craft them as PetNat. With few requirements, the vineyard had to be certified organic and the wine made without any additives “natural,” chëpika was born 🍾. Their first release was sold out in a few days - not only was there a story to be told but the wines were different and delicious. Forward three years and finally after a few difficult vintages, we are happy to introduce the Catawba rose PetNat 2019 & still Catawba Rose 2019. I enrolled in the WSET Diploma to deepen my wine knowledge and understanding of the global challenges facing the industry I love and work in. So far it has not been easy - you definitely get out what you put into it and that also means if you dont prioritize the course, you wont be successful. Altering ones schedule in order to plan other life activities around the Diploma course has been a real and (sometimes rude) awakening. That being said, Im so glad I enrolled. The material weve covered in class is fascinating and having in-class instruction by industry professionals who have visited and studied these regions intensely has been very engaging for me. The breadth of wines weve tasted is impressive and tasting alongside other committed students who have different industry and life experiences has refined my technique immensely. As a salesperson it has allowed me to better explain the wines Im selling as well as evaluate the competitors in market. J is for Joven - pronounced “yoven” coz it’s Spanish hey. Although the word is Spanish, Joven does sound like the third kid from the Hansel and Gretel family who couldn’t go wandering through the forest with his siblings because the name Joven in fact translates to “Troy” in German. And, the only reason anyone called Troy would miss out on being eaten by a witch is because he had a terrible BMX accident where he de gloved his own scrotum, preventing him from any walking at all! As for Joven, in wine terms, it refers to the Spanish translation of “young” meaning the wine is youthful, not benefitting from ageing as such, and often provides for a brighter, fresher style of drinking designed to be consumed shortly after production. In Spanish wine laws Joven is also not subject to any minimum ageing in barrel or bottle restrictions prior to release unlike Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva. Joven wines may also have a portion of Carbonic Maceration, which again sounds like a Troy style of “pantsident”, but is not. New Orleans City Parks popular holiday lights show, Celebration in the Oaks, will return as a driving tour this winter as the park works to generate revenue amid coronavirus restrictions. The show, a glowing spectacle of holiday characters, decorated live oaks, illuminated animals and other displays stationed throughout the park, draws tens of thousands of residents each year to the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park and New Orleans Botanical Garden. During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, as we all strive to #GiveKidsALifetime, we remember Micaela. In 2010 she was diagnosed with AML and on Aug. 17, 2011, she passed away. Micaela was 18 years old and was looking to the future with wonder and excitement. She planned to attend the Univ. of Oklahoma and dreamed about her future after college. She wanted to join the Peace Corps and work in an orphanage in Africa. She wondered who she might marry and how many children she’d have. Micaela loved her life, her friends, her family and planned to make a difference in the world. As her mother Sharon says, “Cancer robbed her of a full beautiful life and robbed us of the joy of watching her life unfold and be all she planned on becoming.” Now her family fights this disease in her memory.
