Repost from @gabriela.usa : GABRIELA USA Condemns Pardon of Jennifer Laude’s Murderer GABRIELA USA continues the call for all members, allies and supporters to express continual outrage over Pemberton’s pardon and demand that he be kept in jail. We also call for the termination of all unequal military agreements, such as the VFA, EDCA, and the Mutual Defense Treaty. Our fight is with the family members of Jennifer, our beloved trans-Filipino community, and the need for justice. Duterte’s inhumane attempts will not deter us from seeking the justice that is due to Jennifer. We will continue the fight for Jennifer! No to Pemberton Pardon! Justice for Jennifer Laude! We stand with Tamika Palmer. For the past six months, Breonna Taylor’s mother and loved ones have been mourning, surrounded by the constant reminder that there has never been justice for us within a racist legal framework and there never will be. Knowing this makes it no less heartbreaking or enraging to witness the criminal legal system openly and brazenly supporting police brutality and violence. That’s why it’s more important than ever to organize to build the power we need to defund & dismantle the systems that continue to harm us. We must seek alternative forms of harm mitigation and accountability. No healing can come without a resolve to do what is necessary to protect the living. If you can, support the demands of @blmlouisville who are also providing bail funds and care to folks taking the demands to the streets. We will keep fighting to stop state violence against our people. #justiceforbreonnataylor #blacklivesmatter #abolishpolice - @conmijente on Instagram

As LGBTQ+ Filipino/a/xs in Canada, we recognize our rights and privileges that our LGBTQ+ kapatids in the Philippines do not have, while also understanding that our struggles are linked. The celebration of LGBTQ+ resistance here in the diaspora cannot happen without fighting for the liberation of our LGBTQ+ kapatids and of all Filipino people in the Philippines. As COVID-19 cases continue to increase rapidly in the Philippines and the heightened fear, we think of those who are stuck with homophobic and transphobic family members, LGBTQ+ families who are denied assistance because they are not a recognized as a “traditional family”, LGBTQ+ workers who lost their jobs like those from ABS-CBN, and the many other struggles of LGBTQ+ people across classes, sectors, and the country. But we also know our people back home won’t give up easily and we have fierce and militant kasamas who are fighting back and speaking up!⁣ ⁣ It is a big lie that the Philippines is one of the most LGBT-friendly places in the world. LGBTQ+ people in the Philippines are not protected by the state and are denied protection no matter how many rainbow flags are raised on the streets and businesses celebrating Pride every June with their rainbow products. Until today, 20 years later since it was first filed, LGBTQ+ Filipinos are still fighting for the SOGIE or Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression Equality bill or the Anti-Discrimination bill. Duterte himself has perpetuated homophobia by saying that being gay is a disease that can be cured, has repeatedly used gay as an insult, and would not recognize same-sex marriage as the president of a predominantly Catholic country. Despite all of this, we recognize the efforts over the years of establishing support and services for LGBTQ+ Filipinos, by the people for the people.⁣ ⁣ Just last June 26, members of Bahaghari, GABRIELA, and other allied organizations were unlawfully arrested and detained by the Philippine National Police for peacefully protesting in Quezon City. Today is World Heart ❤️ Day! We want to remind our followers that while many women only become aware of PCOS due to its reproductive health implications, there are cardiovascular and heart health implications with PCOS as well. Increased levels of insulin ( hyperinsulinemia) can be associated with increased levels of triglycerides, high cholesterol and blood pressure ( weve posted a research paper in the bio about this) which are all associated with cardiovascular and heart disease. While PCOS currently does not have a cure, its imperative that persons are aware of and have access to relevant personnel, resources and services which can help the to treat and manage their PCOS, its symptoms and reducing the risk of developing any other health condition. But in order to do this, more education and awareness about PCOS and everything associated is needed. This is why the BAEP has been and will continue to raise a collective voice about PCOS and the need for it to be comprehensively addressed in Barbados. Invisible does NOT mean imaginary! saeran unknown mystic messenger confused question

Yesterday, Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron announced the grand jury’s decision in the shooting death of Breonna Taylor. Sadly, none of the Louisville Police Department officers involved in the fateful shooting were charged with her death. Instead, the Grand Jury returned an indictment for a lesser charge of wanton endangerment against one of the three police officers. The other two were not charged. There are no words to adequately express the depth of our collective disappointment by this announcement. Alpha Kappa Alpha stands in solidarity with our members in the Central Region, particularly those residing in the center of this controversy in the City of Louisville. After pressing for an indictment for months, all of us had hoped that the outcome would be different and that justice would be served. However, despite what this latest decision would lead us to believe, our lives do matter. We must continue our fight for justice and remain vigilant in demanding policies that protect our civil rights and extend to us the same protections of the law that all American citizens are guaranteed under the Constitution. Today is yet another reminder of the reason that elections are important. The outcome of the upcoming election will affect the lives of future generations. We must stay the course. We must continue our work to ensure that everyone we can touch is registered to vote and that all votes are counted. Let us turn our disappointment into action in honor of Breonna Taylor, and, as we continue to say her name, work fervently to make a change through the power of the ballot. Yours for Alpha Kappa Alpha, Dr. Glenda Glover International President and CEO - @akasorority1908 on Instagram

On August 29, 1970, more than 20,000 people gathered on Whittier Boulevard in East Angeles to rally against the disproportionate number of Latino soldiers dying in the Vietnam War. What began as a peaceful march soon turned violent between protesters and sheriff’s deputies, which led to the death of three people, including LA Times journalist Ruben Salazar— a voice for LA’s Latino community. The event ignited a movement that changed Los Ángeles. Young, white suburban women, in particular, are falling for a Q-adjacent movement, “Save the Children,” which raises false fears about child sex trafficking through fabricated stories, pastel infographics, and hashtag campaigns. Save the Children is different in tone than straight-up QAnon, which originated on the anonymous discussion board 4chan in October 2017, with an unknown individual (or group of individuals) called “Q” claiming to have top-security clearance within the U.S. government. Q believers think that someone in the Trump administration has been using online message boards to send coded messages, known as “Q drops,” about the president’s secret war against this cabal to the public. Once a fringe conspiracy theory among Trump’s most ardent supporters, QAnon’s latest iteration is taking over white women in suburban communities, particularly mothers, and several other unexpected demographics. Jared Holt, an investigative reporter at Right Wing Watch who has been covering QAnon since its inception, said that this web of conspiracy theories during the pandemic has “spread so much that it’s coming home to roost in places we were not expecting.” In Parker, Colorado, the suburban town where Intercept reporter Aída Chávez lived in for nearly a decade, and surrounding cities, it now feels like QAnon is everywhere. Read the full story via the link in our bio. Photo: Stephen Maturen/Getty Images #qanon #savethechildren - @theintercept on Instagram

🎶 OH, what a night ... 🎶 Wednesday eveninga reflection and discussion honoring recently passed U.S. Supreme Court Justice #RuthBaderGinsburg was really something. So many terrific, heartfelt memories shared by so many lawyers and judges. Heres one from Florida Bar member Olivia Liggio: It’s been a tough year, only made harder by the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She was an icon and a fighter for women and a stalwart protector of the Constitution and the rule of law. Honored to have been a fellow introducer with some incredible women and a part of this lovely event remembering the Honorable RBG. Judge Barkett, Judge Scriven, Justice Pariente, Judge Warner, and Florida Bar President Foster-Morales are trailblazers in their own right and each spoke of the profound impact RBG had on their lives and the lives of countless people across the world. Special thank you to Stephanie Cagnet Myron who did an amazing job moderating and putting this panel together on behalf of the The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division, Florida Association for Women Lawyers, FJA Womens Caucus Section, Florida Hispanic Bar Association, and many other voluntary bar associations. It was a wonderful event honoring the life of a legal legend. And if you missed it, you can watch it any time on demand at our website, flayld.org and then choose webinars. MEET OUR FALL FORUM PRESENTERS! Dr. Rachelle Rogers-Ard is a published author, adjunct professor, district administrator and organizational development specialist with over 25 years’ experience preparing adults to lead and manage workplace spaces. Rachelle specializes in coaching agency leaders to dismantle racist policies, practices and procedures that threaten organizational health. Our event is aimed at empowering district leaders and teachers with professional development tools for creating a healthy, affirming learning environment for Black boys in the public school system. In coordination with the start of fall term at Linn-Benton Community College and Oregon State University, the Linn-Benton Loop and Albany Transit System will restore most previously run routes and hours of service on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. Routes and hours of service have been temporarily reduced since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The transit systems in Linn and Benton counties are currently operating under Level 2 of the Governor’s re-opening plan and Oregon Health Authority (OHA) guidance. Under Level 2, public transit buses are required to limit the number of passengers on board to maintain three feet of social distancing. Face coverings are required for passengers. OHA additionally requires social distancing between the bus drivers and passengers which means buses will continue to load and unload passengers through the back doors and fares will not be collected. Individuals with disabilities requiring mobility devices may continue to load through the front door ramp. An updated schedule and information for the Linn-Benton Loop can be found at www.taketheloop.com and for the Albany Transit System at www.albanytransit.com. You can also call 541-917-7667 for both services. - @cityofalbany on Instagram

I’ll admit, in my small, largely white corner of the world, it can be easy to not really personally connect with or understand the things going on in our country today. In a lot of ways, it can feel far away. But it’s not. Racism is alive in our communities and it is all of our job to be actively against it. I’m really proud of the small, peaceful protest in the center of Franklin today. Hundreds of cars, including police cruisers and fire trucks, drove by, most of them honking and waving in support. I took these photos to show that it doesn’t matter where you are, you do have a voice, and you can show solidarity with the millions of people across our nation who are suffering purely because of the color of their skin. I encourage you to hold similar demonstrations in your own towns this week, no matter how big or small they may be. If you prefer to donate, I’ve linked a Black Lives Matter fund in my bio. Thank you to everyone who organized and attended this demonstration today. #blacklivesmatter #BLM #justiceforgeorgefloyd #georgefloyd #peacefulprotest #franklinma #equality - @robwardphotos on Instagram

🚨 🇵🇸ACTION ALERT🚨 🇵🇸Please share and swipe to see how you can support me against this racist zionist campaign. Go to @pal_legal twitter to RT and see how to take action. Includes info from @cuny_nlg on emailing the school too! The screen recording is of an israeli funded app called Act:IL where zionists get rewarded with “points” to complete “missions” in exchange for prizes. 😂 Act:IL featured this on their website about me, falsely claiming I threatened to set a jewish student on fire. This was so fake it was laughable at first, until over 19,000 people on this app completed this “mission.” This malicious misrepresentation of a 3-year old protest performance video I staged jokingly with a friend who was not jewish nor a student, was used in an attempt to expel me from law school. The last thing they want to see is another Palestinian lawyer. This was part of a coordinated attack which included @michaelrapaport who was harassing me in my comments and my DM’s and posting about me to his 2 million Instagram followers vowing that he would get me expelled. Rapaport was sentenced for harassing women before and attacked Ilhan Omar’s anti-Zionism as “smiley bullshit.” He fed this narrative, and then deleted everything. The Act:il email uses the presence of jewish students on campus, (who released their own statement in support of me) to make false claims that they felt unsafe. At the same time, the app was also directing people to try to shut down the @amedstudies event with Leila Khaled, and had zoom cancel the event. This manufactured outrage is used as a tool to try to fool people into thinking these false narratives are a reality. But instead, this just continues to further expose the zionist propaganda machine hurled at Palestinians and organizations. With all of your money, apps, algorithms and institutional power, you are still losing against people who are fighting for free. The struggle for Palestinian liberation is completely legitimate, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Hiding behind false narratives is necessary for an illegitimate struggle. I just want everyone to know if they come for you, we should not be afraid. The truth will always rise. - @nerdeenk on Instagram

🚨 ALL CALL: NEW ACTIONS 🚨 We call on Congress to immediately pass a standalone extension of the Aviation Payroll Support Program (PSP). TAKE ACTION VIA THE LINK IN BIO We cannot wait. Flight Attendants and other essential aviation workers have spent months calling on Congress to reach a deal for a comprehensive relief package to help all workers, including an extension of the PSP. But when Congress failed to act before the Sept. 30 deadline, furloughs began immediately for Flight Attendants and other aviation workers. While Congress and the administration continue to negotiate a broader deal, aviation workers cannot wait. Congress must pass a standalone PSP extension through March, 2021, to support essential aviation workers, prevent mass furloughs and protect our broader economy. SENATE: 888-848-4824 HOUSE: 888-907-9365 Hello, I am a constituent calling to tell my (Senator/Representative) that aviation workers are out of time. Furloughs have begun and we only have days to reverse course. We need a stand-alone extension of the Payroll Support Program TODAY. From 2016-2020, the UCPD at UCLA failed to uphold 93.5% of complaints filed against them. This includes 8 excessive force complaints, 6 racial profiling & discrimination complaints, and 5 harassment complaints. This data solely represents complaints filed against the department through existing channels, meaning there may be many more incidents which are not represented in this data. As community members have continuously protested that the complaint filing process is inaccessible and intimidating, it is highly likely that this is the case, and that these numbers do not reflect the full scope of UCPD’s harmful misconduct. #NOUCPD #NoUCPDCoalition #noucpdcoalitionucla - @noucpdcoalition on Instagram

Things are not OK. Things may not be OK for a long time. Minneapolis, our home, our community, is burning and broken. More importantly, though, our neighbors — some family, some friends, some simply strangers we pass by each day — are crying for help. And the sad fact is they have been for a long time. And though we’ve heard them, we haven’t done enough. None of us have. His name is George Floyd and his life was taken on our streets. And horribly, he is not alone. Our city is in crisis, but sadly, it too is not alone. Things are not OK. There is no consolation now — only conviction to do better, to be better than we are. It starts with one simple truth: Black. The people in this photo are fighting for what they know is an absolute crime against the wetland ecosystems of Sri Lanka, deforestation and wetland destruction, the latter heavily impacting Fishing cats and their habitat. The Government National Aquaculture Development Authority is developing plans to convert more than 2500 acres of the Vidattaltivu nature reserve mangroves to shrimp farms. This is not the first time the integrity of such a biodiversity rich system has been hurt. In the 1980s, shrimp farming in Sri Lanka failed, with 90% of farms abandoned due to disease. Farms developed rarely last more than a few years. They degrade rapidly, leaving pollution behind that you would not believe. Vidattaltivu is an absolute wonderland for widlife, therefore development to this degree will be devastating. Officials have promised that environmental protective actions will be taken, but that is not reassuring as the same promise was made in the past but not kept. So we ask of you please to make some noise. Share with your friends and family the facts, raise awareness on social media. Our hope is that enough pressure on the government will make an impact. Not all of us can be out there on the streets, but everyone can take a stand in their own way. Be creative, we thank you! WE ARE GETTING QUEENS COUNTED! On Saturday, September 26th, @CaribbeanEqualityProject, in partnership with the @southqueenswomensmarch, @queensmuseum, the @uscensusbureau, and @nyc_2020census hosted a #2020Census Queens Gets Counted! Rally and Outreach in Richmond Hill, Queens. Together, we counted over 300 households (approximately 900-1000 individuals). Currently, only 51% of Richmond Hill and South Ozone Park has responded to the 2020 Census, which means these already under-resourced and underfunded communities will only get half the federal funding for housing, healthcare, schools, and so much more. The action centered the voices of documented and undocumented LGBTQ people, Indo-Caribbean, Afro-Caribbean, and South Asian immigrants that live in these thriving multicultural communities, as call-to-action to be heard and build political power and respect by being counted in the 2020 Census. This powerful community-led and culturally-responsive Census event took place at the center of #LittleGuyana, Lefferts Blvd. and Liberty Ave. The day included a press conference/ rally, tabling, Census street canvassing, voter registration opportunities, PPE distribution, music, and FREE giveaways. The action was organized in collaboration with the Office of Council Member @adrienneeadams, and Indo-Caribbean and South Asian-led Southeast Queens community- based organizations, including @chhayacdc, @jahajee_sisters, @drumnyc, @sadhanahindus, @united_madrassi_association, @kaurageouslove, and trusted community faith leaders. It’s not too late to #GetCountedNYC! Visit my2020census.gov or call 844-330-2020 to complete the census for your household 🏡. Here’s our weekly report on the national data for COVID-19. As of last night (August 2, 2020), more than 4,644,565 people in the United States have tested positive for COVID-19 and more than 147,134 have died.⁣ ⁣ To date, states have reported that 1,104 American Indian or Alaska Native people have died from COVID-19 in the United States. Nationwide, American Indian or Alaska Native people are testing positive for COVID-19 at 2.6 times the rate of white people.⁣ ⁣ To date, states have reported that 177 Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islanders have died from COVID-19 in the United States. Nationwide, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islanders are testing positive at 3.7 times the rate of white people.⁣ ⁣ We expect the death count to actually be much higher and disparities to be greater given that American Indian or Alaska Native (AIAN) and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander (NHPI) data are very underreported and 21 jurisdictions report neither AIAN or NHPI data for both cases and deaths.⁣ ⁣ To see the data, visit our COVID #RacialDataTracker at https://covidtracking.com/race Link in bio. #RacialDataTracker #CRDT #BeAntiracist #COVID #COVID19 #Coronavirus - @antiracismctr on Instagram

The 2020 #TCSNYCMarathon, set to take place on November 1, has been canceled. Due to coronavirus-related health and safety concerns for runners, spectators, volunteers, staff, and the many partners and communities that support the event, and in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of the City of New York, we made the difficult decision to cancel the world’s largest marathon.⁣ ⁣ All participants who were registered for the 2020 TCS New York City Marathon will be contacted directly by July 15 regarding their cancellation resolution options. You will have the choice of one of the following five resolution options:⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ - A full refund of your entry fee⁣ - Guaranteed complimentary entry for the 2021 Marathon⁣⁣ - Guaranteed complimentary entry for the 2022 Marathon⁣ - Guaranteed complimentary entry for the 2023 Marathon⁣ - Donate the value of your entry fee to support NYRR’s free youth and community programs⁣ ⁣ Runners who gained entry through a charity, partner, or international tour operator should reach out to that organization beginning July 1 for the resolution options available to them.⁣ ⁣ Registered runners and others from around the world are invited to participate in the third annual TCS New York City Marathon – Virtual 26.2M taking place from October 17 through November 1. Further details on the virtual marathon will be shared in July.⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ In addition, the 2020 #AbbottDash5K on October 31 has also been canceled. In the days and weeks ahead, NYRR will continue to work closely with government officials regarding the status of other in-person events and programs in 2020, with the likelihood of additional cancellations to be announced this summer.⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ While this decision weighs heavily on us, the health and well-being of our running community is of the utmost importance. We appreciate your continued support.⁣ ⁣ Visit the link in bio to learn more. - @teamforkids on Instagram

Douglas County is incredibly fortunate to have a County Attorney with a level of integrity and expertise as Douglas county Attorney Don Kleine. While other prosecutors across the nation are acquiescing to social justice activists, Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine is focused on doing the right thing, which isn’t always popular with the loud radical activist minority. It’s absolutely ridiculous that any Attorney General or top prosecutor would recommend curtailing traffic stops - a valuable tool in traffic safety and preventing violence- in order to appease the radical activists. The radical activists will never be appeased. Criminal prosecution should never be political. https://www.foxnews.com/us/nypd-stop-traffic-stops-attorney-general - @omahapoliceofficersassn on Instagram

We have worked with the National Restaurant Association, representatives of the Food and Drug Administration, academia, the Conference for Food Protection, Ecolab, public health officials and industry representatives to develop a set of opening and operating guidelines specific to Georgia to help restaurants return to full operation safely. This guidance is designed to provide restaurants with a basic summary of recommended practices that can be used to help mitigate exposure to the COVID-19 virus, including: food safety, cleaning and sanitizing, employee health and social distancing. We trust each individual restaurant will use the resources provided to make a responsible choice that is best for their business and their community. 50 protestors who participated in demonstrations in defense of Black lives—including family members of Summer Taylor—filed a major lawsuit against the City of Seattle and State of WA for wrongful death, personal injuries, and civil rights violations by Seattle police. Protesters suffered...injuries from chemical agents, blast balls, flash bangs, batons, and rubber and plastic bullets. These weapons caused deep bruising and scarring, permanent hearing loss, bleeding, brain injuries and burns from chemical agents. Police used militarized tactics against protesters during arrest and in custody, causing multiple neck, wrist, & knee injuries, bone contusions, muscle injuries, damaged fingers, damaged hearing, bleeding in the ears, amputation of a thumb, and cardiac arrest. “It should go w/o saying, you can’t shoot members of the media in the back,” said SKKM attorney Ackley. “You cannot choke peaceful protesters. You cannot use blast balls & explosives on people trying to disperse…People who came to protest excessive force were met w/ excessive force.” SPD officers assaulted protestor Cooney during a demonstration. Officers threw Cooney against a wall & arrested Cooney w/o cause. “It was very clear that SPD & officers at King County jail intended to do as much damage as possible. They laughed about it, mocked, and verbally antagonized us. Atty. Karen Koehler “concluded the event by saying the lawsuit was important for the protection of free speech and the right to protest. We look forward to this battle. Bring it on Seattle, and the state of Washington, because we are going to hold you accountable.” We all watched SPD publicly assault, maim, choke, beat, murder & terrorize residents. Now the City and the state (meaning you, us, we, the people) will be paying the enormous cost to defend them and the hundreds of millions in associated settlements. Sudanese TPS holders are among the 300,000 families nationwide impacted by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling in favor of the Trump’s administration’s decision to terminate protections for El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, and Sudan. ACT and our partners participated in rallies in New York & DC to urge that Congress provide immediate action to protect TPS holders from potential deportation following the Ramos decision. Each day the Senate fails to pass permanent solution for TPS holders puts our communities in harm’s way. As Americans face both the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting severe economic downturn, I unveiled The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Enhancement Act, a legislative package that will provide much needed relief by making health care and prescription drugs more affordable. The legislation also expands access to health care, strengthens protections for people with pre-existing conditions, reduces racial and ethnic health coverage disparities and reverses the Trump Administration’s harmful actions to sabotage the Affordable Care Act. #LowerCostsForCare - @repfrankpallone on Instagram

This week is the first week of teaching for many educators, and BIPOC teachers of 2020 are carrying a huge load. 🎒 Tone policing 🎒 Constantly proving our worth 🎒 Racism 🎒 Micro aggressions (which is still racism) 🎒 Paren’t fears and concerns 🎒 The homophobic and transphobic structures embedded education (especially harmful to queer BIPOC educators). 🎒 Personal mental health & anxiety 🎒 Our own fear for our health and life 🎒 Under resourced and/or no info from state leadership 🎒Digital barriers: Having to transition back and forth to virtual and in person 🎒 Responsibility for public health and economy, esp now after educators are listed as essential workers. 🎒 Being expected to teach, and work efficiently while our community members are being murdered and fighting for our liberation. 🎒 All the while being a part of our own families. These are just some of the loads BIPOC teachers are carrying on their backs. How are we supporting educators in our community? Educators, how are we supporting and caring for ourselves? Especially with these heavy loads that keep piling up. My fellow educators and caretakers, I see you. I love you. You are resilient. We got this. Stormi Alejandre: One Culture, Diverse Backgrounds Artist’s Statement: My art piece expresses urban Indigenous identity and living during the global pandemic (COVID-19). I’m not focusing on our Native culture, but more on our backgrounds and how we experience different things depending on where we grow up. I split my canvas into two parts to compare and contrast living on a reservation versus a city. The left side of the canvas represents the reservation and the right side represents the city. I chose the Rosebud Indian Reservation because that is where my family is from and where my family lives. There is a single house because on the Rosebud reservation everything is just flat plains and houses/neighborhoods are really spread out from each other. The girl has a red handprint on her face to represent the missing and murdered indigenous women and girls, she also has a tear going down the side of her face to represent the pain; something that happens on reservations that no one really talks or knows about. She also doesn’t have a mask on because Natives on the Rez are getting sick from COVID-19 and aren’t getting the proper resources to help them. Then, I chose Oakland because that is where I live. I painted buildings because there are many buildings, houses and people in Oakland and the Bay Area. I also included protesters to represent all of the movements and protests that are going on in cities all around the country. The girl has a mask on to represent that in the city, she does have resources. I also included the population of both places to show that the Rez is a bigger area, but it has a smaller amount of people and Oakland is a smaller area, but it has a bigger amount of people. But despite the many differences of the backgrounds of both girls, they are still a little similar. Just because someone grew up in the city doesn’t make them any less Native than someone that grew up on the Rez. It’s our job as Native Americans to uplift one another, stand up for each other and keep our culture alive. Artist Bio: I was born and raised in Oakland, CA. I am a senior at Envision academy of arts and technology. - @intertribalfriendshiphouse on Instagram
