This is one of the favorite family stories from the Stuart Flooring days: In the late 80s, Stuart Flooring needed a boiler to be able to fire the kilns and dry the lumber before it was milled into strip flooring. One morning, Buddy and a few helpers drove deep into West Virginia in search of a deal on this old boiler you see in the photo. Once purchased, the problem then became how were they going to get it home? Well, about the only option of getting out of the mountains of West Virginia is by truck. So, they hired a local truck driver who had a lowboy trailer to come and load up the boiler. They cut the boiler away from its foundation and jacked it up in the air so the lowboy could slide under the boiler. Then they actually welded the boiler to the trailer. At this point, it was getting late into the evening and the crew still wasnt sure how the truck driver was going to get this thing over the highways and under the bridges between Stuart and West Virginia. When they mentioned it to the driver, he said, now dont you worry about that, and told them hed see them in the morning back in Stuart. Buddy and the crew drove home that night. Sure enough, when they came to work the next morning at 6:00 AM, the driver, the lowboy, and the boiler were all waiting on them at the gate to Stuart Flooring. They unloaded the lowboy, didnt ask any questions, and the truck driver went on home, back to West Virginia. - @tenoaksflooring on Instagram

This week the last tendrils of someone else’s energy within were burnt away 𓆃 And with that. A whole world opened up through me again. The first blooms after a forest fire. Tenderly and gently, but determinedly blooming with life again. Without fear, without judgement, without words that weren’t mine. My world. My devotion to myself and this beautiful life started to flow like a rapid river again. After months of confusion. The most loving arms of the universe reached down for me, after denying myself of them for so long. I found myself wrapped in Love I thought I’d lost. Bursting and spilling over the banks that I’d put up for too long, out of fear that the way I related to life was too much. It never was. I never was too much. I never said that. Someone else did. Living life sacredly, listening to the messengers I find in each breath, the sway of trees, the cracks in the concrete, the earth’s pulse, is something I reclaim as my own again. There has never been another way, even if I try. Life seduces and takes me in ways I can’t resist anymore. I missed this. I missed hearing the forest whispers, the gentle spark of the sun within, I missed spirit weaving it’s way through to me every second - and me replying with a ‘thank you’ instead of ‘not now’. If you’ve followed me for a while, I’m so happy to share that I’ll be sharing prose and poetry again like I used to. This is healing for me first and foremost. I will be sharing content that feels nourishing to me, because we have to stop abandoning ourselves for others. 𓆃 The door’s always open for you to leave if it doesn’t resonate anymore, that’s ok and beautiful for both of us to be in spaces that serve us. Iranian artists @icyandsot recently took off on another self-initiated mission, inspired by climate activist Greta Thunbergs work and the worldwide environmental movement she has started. Using the vast Californian desert landscape as a dramatic backdrop for their work and activists impactful speech as an alarming wake-up call, Saman and Sasan Oskouei created a riveting video titled Our House is on Fire. ⠀ ⠀ I want you to panic. I want you to act as if your house was on fire. @gretathunberg ⠀ ⠀ In some way turning Gretas inspiring words into poetic reality, Icy and Sot built a frame of an archetypal home and set it on fire. Allowing for the untouched surrounding nature to be seen between the blazing framework of the house, the artists suggest looking at the wider picture in which the Earth is our only home. The video shows the reversed footage of their installation being swallowed by flames and crumbling to the ground, creating an illusion of burning pieces of wood rising up and forming the familiar structure.
