You know life can be hard but if you squint & look around you could find some pretty fantastic things. For starters I will never stop praising the blessing my sweet Jax is. He’s truly my best friend & I can’t figure out what I did to deserve such a spectacular kid. Cleaning out his school folder I found this paper & just wept. Today my sweet angel baby turned 4 months. She’s the spunkiest & happiest baby with the biggest smile that lights a fire in my soul. And lastly my sweet Daddy was checking in on my crew and making sure my sick husband didn’t need anything and I blurted out DINNER 😂 I’m not one to yell out for help I’m quiet stubborn but tonight I said I just need some type of food dropped off at our house so it’s one last thing I need to do for the night. I swear to G I can’t get through this without female love. Let me explain... This tumor has a lot of gnarly side effects. One of them being a lot of my hair falling out (it has lately slowed 🙏) Another one being my body thinking it’s pregnant. Swollen boobs, etc. Not fun!! I rely on myself and God to pull me through but you know what’s also kept me staying positive is... My girlfriends and this community. I love Dan but you can bet your ass he’s not going to be lighting me up with specific comments like: “girrrl you are working that outfit” or “Girlfriend style your hair this way and you can barely tell!” He’s not going to be helping me have that Stella Got Her Groove Back moment because he’s a dude!! 🤪 He doesn’t know how to point me in that direction! And he’s not going to let me vent whenever I want because to him he doesn’t get it! “It’s just hair.” Us girls know it is NOT just hair! Often it’s part of our identity. I fucking loved my long thick hippy hair! It’s not everything to me but it was fun, you know? And now I’m learning to love my thinner hair- soon to be chopped! And I feel strong enough to know we are so much more than our bodies. Using looks as a crutch is not a good thing! But it’s nice to feel good. I left for AZ/CA feeling blah and I came back feeling fine as hell. 🤣 This community + other women LIGHT ME UP and I’m constantly reminded how important female connection is! Ive been struggling with Instagram and finding things to post. COVID has caused all these things that I would normally be doing, and taking pictures of, to not happen, from the vacations and adventures I had planned with my family, going to conventions and cosplaying with my friends, to just getting out and doing things in general. While there was a lot with quarantine that allowed me to be my authentic self, the rest has been hard to deal with. 26 weeks !!! 💙💙💙 ———————————- Yesterday I had a routine antenatal appointment. As per usual, I took a pot of wee with me and my maternity notes tucked under my arm ready to present to my midwife.📝 I sat myself down in a waiting room with 6 other pregnant ladies all with their masks on, sat in silence. 🤫 ——— Our boy is measuring off the ‘normal’ curve for expected growth size at 26 weeks. ——— I personally am not worried at all, the hospital have requested a gestational diabetes test for me based on this ‘larger’ figure. ——— I think it’s very easy for anxiety to creep in. However one measurement doesn’t give a comparison. Our boy could be laying a certain way hence a larger measurement. We are happy to get measured again at 28weeks and see his growth rate for him. ——- Anyway I broke the silence and talked to the other ladies. With masks on it seems to me people talk less to each other. Like a barrier of speech. I had a lovely conversation talking to another pregnant mother which for me brings shared experiences and reassurance to one another. Since I started @theyogadarling page, I thought about teaching chair yoga, writing a children’s book, opening an Etsy store, selling my crocheted beanies and being a fitness coach. A purpose. A passion. A business. I’ve not pursued any of these ideas, yet I’ve enjoyed dreaming about every single possibility. For me the imagining is just as meaningful as the reality. I’ve always been like this and I used to think something was wrong with me because I never found that “one” thing. The phrase “don’t quit your daydream” has a whole different meaning for me. 🙈 A few years ago my friend @tea.with.lucy.b shared Elizabeth Gilbert’s talk The Flight of the Hummingbird and after watching it, my outlook completely changed. Guess what? I’m a hummingbird! I am designed this way and it’s absolutely okay. I’m more curious than I am driven and I probably always will be. Who knows? 🤷🏼♀️ But she said something I thought was worth passing along to other hummingbirds...She said “If you can let go of passion and follow your curiosity, your curiosity just might lead you to your passion.” Let go. What is it like running @desertbathcompany !? Well, imagine working a full-time HR job. Now add running a bakery full-time and making everything yourself. Then, adopt 8 dogs and try to find time to eat and do laundry. Yea, it’s kinda like that. 🤪 Starting my business wasn’t easy, and still isn’t. It’s a VERY hard balancing act that has me begging for mercy more times than I am willing to admit. It requires more sacrifice (sleep, vacation, etc.) than I could ever fathom. Day 7 of my 30 day challenge ..I’ve had a few people ask me about my 30 day challenge.. Basically I started this 30 day challenge with myself after spending some time with some incredibly successful and driven individuals . Given I’m a single mom, who has her kiddos 100% of the time, works full time and is trying to maneuver through daily life during Covid, it has taken its toll on me a few times.. Therefore, I have dedicated myself to a few fitness,work and journaling goals, which are designed to keep me on track and find a little inspiration during trying times. My hope is by the end of the 30 days I can attain my goals, with a little bit of accountability in place ... and hopefully inspire others to do the same. I have had some flattering moments in my life, but being asked to give part of the eulogy for Cedric Hardman was certainly a high point. As a coach, mentor, and friend, he made an amazing impact on mine and so many teammate’s lives. After the celebration of his life, his son Clayton asked me to keep his chair, which has been in my office for over a year. No makeup no problem! I’ve been going thru DEEP HEALING. Learning to ACCEPT Myself as MYSELF. I did a past life regression(I am gonna do a YouTube on this) last week that rocked my world. It showed me that most of my life I’ve been viewing my relationship with my family in the wrong way. Always feeling like the outsider. That I wasn’t “wanted”. My guides showed me that I was VERY much wanted by my parents. But that I on a SOUL level had never been human before. That my prior existence was on a planet that everything was pretty chill. Not like on earth where we have stress. They showed me that my resonance was not the same as my FAMILY’s but that I was wrong in believing I wasn’t wanted. And the being “misunderstood” comes from never being human before and that was also not mine or their fault. So I called my mom today and told her about this. And asked her how my birth was. Was I wanted? When did the disconnect start? And we were able to TALK and HEAL and say things that should have been said 20 years ago. Growth and Healing isn’t always easy. You have to have the hard convos. But that’s what 2020 is about. Not everyone. In fact if you ever want new muscle you WILL have to spend time eating more. 80% of my 1:1 clients are now reversing. Every day I get messages from clients about how shocked they look and feel with more food. It’s a beautiful thing and I’m right there with ya. Yep...that’s me. 🖤 Amanda got me all tanned up last Wednesday morning to celebrate my 13th anniversary at @theelmshotelandspa. We used the rapid tan at 11 am, I rinsed at 2 pm and this was at 6 pm that night. Tans take 24 hours to fully develop but I still had great color just seven hours post-tan. Fun fact...the black lace halter I’m wearing is actually the top of my wedding dress. 13 years later and I can finally zip it right up again. #truthbombtuesday This is more for myself but also maybe this will resonate with someone else. . I posted in my story today a HEAVY filtered photo- stating as such- & commenting on where could I get my face fixed to actually look that smooth and young again. I got multiple messages on girl you’re gorgeous, stop you don’t need work, and I wish I was as pretty as you.. that last broke my heart. Bc y’all that’s NOT reality! I don’t have smooth non wrinkled skin, glorious young radiate skin nor do I look like I’m in my 20s anymore! I’m 34.. wait nope damn it.. 35 & feel every single bit of it! . But here’s what broke me next.. swipe left-that picture! why did it upset me bc I let myself immediately start dissecting every single thing about it: Bags under my eyes. Dull complexion. Fatigue. Wrinkles I look exhausted bc I AM! . I immediately wanted to cry bc I didn’t look like the “glorious filter” photo & started picking my self apart. . This is the problem with filters & social media.. it’s a highlight reel of 2.5 secs of a persons life & unrealistic pics. . Yet we are allowing it to consume our whole identity! . I’m a mom/bonus mom to 5.. I work a full time job, I have one in college that I stress about every single day, my youngest is my mini but I always worry he will grow apart from me & not need me anymore bc he’s a teen & teens are hard. Then I’m a bonus mom to 3 others that I legit feel like I fail every day- why? Well bc I’m not their parent and who knows if I’m doing it right or wrong or if they want me around or don’t or if I spend enough time or don’t.it’s a vicious cycle that literally never ends. . Then you work a full time job - add those stressors then it’s back to home life to cook, clean, figure dinners & lunches and groceries. Plus laundry, sports & animals can’t forget those bc hi we have 2 & oh don’t forget the bills bc why not add financial complexes to the mix. And ur significant other- he needs ur time too! . what I’m saying is some days ur going to look busted AF bc mom life is hard AF w/no days off & some days you’re gonna have it together lookin fab. I don’t know that I’ll ever be more transparent than this. But, I hope it will touch someones life...When I was 19 years old after Wednesday night church my friend Shannon asked me to run her past the garage to see her new boyfriend before we went home. He had been drinking but for some reason we welcomed him and his older friend into my car. As I drove, Shannon and her boyfriend sat in the back & a man at least 10 years older than me sat in the bucket seat beside me. Shannon and her boyfriend got in a fight and asked me to pull over. They got out of the car and walked into a wooded area and left me in my car with a man I didn’t know. As “Angel” by Aerosmith played on my radio, he said, “Aerosmith is my favorite band!” As he reached over to kiss me. I pushed him away and yelled out the window to Shannon and screamed, “We have to go!” She didn’t answer. I yelled again then the man beside me turned my car off, threw my keys out the window. He ripped my church dress and raped me in my car and I could do absolutely nothing to stop it. As I’m writing this the same song is now playing in the background. I’m sharing all this to say... Years passed and every time Aerosmith came on the radio my mind immediately went back to the night I was raped and panic would take me over because I related their music to my rape, to the memory of that man and the horrible thing he did to me. If you know anything about me today, you know Steven Tyler from Aerosmith is one of my biggest inspirations. What changed??? I made a decision to take the thing that brought fear and pain back into my life and use it as my power! I bought Aerosmith music and started listening to “Dream On” over and over and over and use it as something that has empowered me again and again over the years. I chose not to allow the fear anymore by facing it head on. As long as I hid what that man did to me. As long as I coward every time a man touched me. As long as I allowed even the sound of music from that night to blanket me in darkness...the darkness was in control! I had to take my power back step by step. It’s no secret that I share personal things on my “platform” so if you’re not looking to read about some deep shit rn, this post isn’t for you. . . . This year has been a rollercoaster, and that description is overused and annoying. It’s been just about three months since I had a miscarriage to a human who I had no business dating in the first place. The emotional pain that something like that takes you through is excruciating at best, and I’ve never experienced a pain like that. My emotional pain tolerance is extremely high from the things I’ve gone through in my life (I’ll spare you those past details), but this was something special. I use that word specifically, because it was the kind of pain that wholeheartedly changes you from the inside out. The kind that grabs hold of every belief you had and makes you question it to the very core. Last night I watched “vlogs” I had made of me bawling my eyes out during the experience, and the main question I kept asking was, “What’s the point?” . . It’s really the answer we all want in life, and the one that is completely subjective to your own experiences in life. For me, this experience, although horrid and terrible, has done something unexplainable in my life. The real raw gratitude, love, and appreciation I feel for everyone and everything is undefinable. The courage I have found, the confidence, and the knowing that I am so blessed to be alive is something I want everyone to feel. I no longer entertain the “fuck boys” who try to hit me with those late night texts, or spend my time in situations I know are dead ends. I treat myself with so much compassion, love, and utmost understanding and this gives me the new ability to give this back to my relationships as well. I’ve been asked lately if I’m ever going to compete again and for awhile it’s been hard to answer. There is a little part of me that really misses it and would love to do it all again, but I think there’s a bigger part of me that loves living a very balanced life where I can enjoy more time with friends, family and all the good things in life. Competing taught me a lot about health and fitness, and a lot about discipline and I will always be grateful it was something I chose to do. Even though I am not planning on competing, I still love sharing my passion for health and fitness. Hejdå skitsommar - Hallå höst 🍁 Jag tillhör nog den lilla skaran som är glad att denna sommar äntligen är över... Förstå mig rätt - Jag älskar vanligtvis allt som har sommaren till och i år skulle den ju bli något alldeles extra Egentligen skulle jag kunna byta ut ordet ”skit” till ”besvikelse”, för det är egentligen det jag känner som starkast ~ Jag är besviken på hur denna sommar blev och att ett ”litet” virus kom och sabbade mina planer - riktigt ordentligt ! Det svänger i livet för oss alla och jag vet att jag (speciellt som egenföretagare) inte är ensam om denna motgång. Att Covid-19 kom till världen gjorde verkligen att allt i min värld, blev helt fel... Jag hade fina planer och ett fint nyskrivet kontrakt som Bröllopskoordinator som skulle ge mig en riktigt bra start & möjlighet att nå den dröm & liv jag jobbat så hårt för, så länge Ni förstår ju att det där med Bröllop i dessa tider var ju bara att glömma och många avbokade/flyttades fram till nästa år. Resultatet för mig blev faktiskt tuffare än vad ni kanske tror, allt från de ekonomiska till det mentala fick sig en rejäl käftsmäll och jag har spenderat ett halvår med att vända & vrida mig själv in&ut - bara för att hålla mig över ytan Att det äntligen är höst är för mig en stor lättnad, på så många plan som jag inte kan gå in på Men jag kan säga såhär - hade det inte varit utan mina fina & fantastiska vänner & familj så hade jag drunknat ~ All kärlek till er 🤎 Med det här vill jag stanna upp en stund, vara öppen & ärlig och visa att livet inte alltid är så glammigt som det kanske verkar. Att ge mig själv tillåtelse till alla dessa känslor och bara få vara besviken och ledsen på hur allt blev. Jag kanske tillomed kan ge någon annan tröst med att säga ”Du är inte ensam” & ”Jag ligger också på minus” ~ Det vet jag att jag hade behövt höra Men vad är planen nu & vad tänker jag göra åt allt? ~ Jo, det enda jag kan göra = ALLT ! parenting is a constant mind fu** those feelings of literally wanting to eat your babies chubby thighs for dinner transitioning to the mental breakdown of crying in the shower so that no one can see the vulnerability that comes with the ever shifting emotions in a day. i prayed for my babies. ive wanted to be a mama since i was a little girl playing ‘house’ with all my barbies and baby dolls. I never want this space to seem ‘ideal’ or ‘picture perfect’. there’s plenty of times throughout the day that im fuming on a million WTF’s per hour. but ive found rhythms in a routine that starts in the morning all the way until bedtime. im talking the best nights sleep, support when you’re loosing your mind, a tool to help a fussy babe, a go-to roller for rumbly tummies, or hormone support when your shits out of whack postpartum. convenient support that i cannot and will not go a day without— parenting is hard enough and no body got time to make things harder on themselves. where my mamas at that feel this 🤘🏼 - @kassentials.co on Instagram

How can you change the world? Start with one. I remember when I first started my business- at the time I really didn’t want to pursue having a business but I told myself if I could help even 1 person feel the way I felt it would be worth it. I remember getting my first client. I remember how EXCITED I felt to have 1 client. That one person trusted me to work with them. & I love her. She grew and learned so much. I got to see her face light up when she learned something new. I got to see her experience the changes she was looking for. I got to serve her & then I thought “I think I want to do more of this” So many people are looking for the “right time” to start something- the truth is, there is no “right time” there are no “perfect circumstances” & when you start- expect to fail. Expect to make mistakes & learn from them. But keep taking action & keep showing up- because if you have the courage to show up- you might just show someone else that they can too. & you don’t need to be anyone else than yourself to do that. People just need people- (Seriously) they need someone to listen- someone to believe in them- someone to trust. We are literally designed for community. Above all else let all you do be done in love- love changes things. Love forgives. Love endures. Love meets people in their mess. Love changes people. So to you, wanting to make a difference in the world- start where you are- start with intentionally serving one person & then another. Before you know it you’ll have a ripple effect- people serving people & that to me is the most beautiful thing that our world needs most. I grew up with people in my family saying when you’re in your 40’s that is half way to dead 😳. I am 45 and sometimes it feels so old—especially when I get out of bed in the morning and everything cracks and pops, when I try to stay up past 10PM 🙋🏼♀️😂 or when I think about the fact that my daughters are in college. Renovating this home was seriously trying for me and Jayden. There were actual blood, sweat, and tears put into this very kitchen. And in the moment, it felt like the house would never be done. Like we would be living in a construction zone forever. We felt alone and without a real home. But we pushed through. We came home after work exhausted and then worked on the house until dark ☾ We persevered! And now more than ever we can see why we pushed so hard. Life can feel so freaking lonely, so much of the time. And it can feel like there is literally no light at the end of the tunnel. But when you have nothing left to give, give something anyway. •I’m back bitchachas!• These last 30 days I decided to do less scrolling and more living. In these past 30 days I transitioned my life from AZ back to NJ and prepared for this weird a** football season, kind of “sent Jon off to (his SEVENTH!!) training camp”, welcomed my two brothers home safely from Afghanistan, filled my house with positive affirmations, celebrated my eighth nephew’s first birthday, started therapy back up, had the most AMAZING girls weekend in Cape Cod, started journaling and reading more, picked up extra shifts at work, threw Jon an epic surprise birthday party, started working out more consistently, and focused on my relationship with myself, my boyfriend, and the people closest to me.
