See you think I am not watching you, but I am. 😉 You say you want to run a successful online business but you spend MONTHS trying to perfect your website, your workflow, your application that you are COMPLETELY missing the things you ACTUALLY need to be doing. Which is just 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆! Doesn’t matter how great your website looks or how pretty your logo came out to be, if you are not showing up and putting all those skills into work, youre going to stay EXACTLY where you are today. I spent 5 months 🗓 of my business doing all the “busy” work. Trying to get the website up, trying to perfect my logos and business name trying to do EVERYTHING I could to avoid doing the things that made me feel uncomfortable. Which you may ask? ⚡️it was CONSISTENTLY investing, building a GENUINE relationship with the right IDEAL CLIENT (because let’s face it, we are all “building” relationship but then allow ourselves to get friend-zoned), and most importantly I was hoping that people would just love me for who I was so that I could avoid the dread sales call. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵? Is that resisting all of that was just me resisting the pivot and growth that my business needed? So I did that. I think we all love her for her strength through some tough storms and her ability to go up against the toughest business men. I find it ironic that so many of us women love her, yet if we meet a female leaders that have some of her strong qualities in real life we tend to not call her a Boss but degrading B words. I know it first hand, as I’ve even referred to myself pretty negatively in the past. It’s fine for us as individuals to want to aspire to be stronger but why do we not want that for others. Someone else’s strengths shouldn’t make us feel weaker, we should learn, admire and lean on them to find out how to get those qualities we want in ourselves. These types of women don’t become who they are overnight, it’s a journey with some really hard passes and valleys. These ladies exist in all of our lives. Often we don’t recognize the journey, only the end result. Perhaps we should have more compassion for each other, wonder what made someone who they are today. The other part of this character I love is all the hard she has been through, she doesn’t hide her pain, in fact she unleashes it on others quite a bit, but isn’t that how we all can be? She’s relatable on so many angles but still wants what the same things in life we all want. Remember that the next time you come across a strong boss woman. In a world that we are so hard to criticize and judge everyone, get curious not furious on why people are the way they are. 28. You’ve been too good to me. First of all, you’ve been an even number and I thrive with even numbers. You’ve also given me so much joy; from being able to see my Cats play against Georgia at the homecoming game, to being able to teach such amazing kids, to continue to grow closer to my friends and make new ones, and to allow me to have a new job and a new pupper, you’ve been so memorable. You’ve also given me pain—from losing my precious Pepito of 12 years, to being a part of a pandemic that allowed me to have to see my seniors suffer in so many ways and not allow me to properly say goodbye to them... and so much more. But sadness comes with every age, and while we hate that, it allows us to grow. There is joy in the pain, and remembering that is so crucial. So, with 29 approaching, I hope it treats me so well. I hope to continue to grow closer to my friends; I hope it gives me someone I’m going to spend the rest of my life with; I hope it allows me to become so ready to fly into the 30s. Ok I know it is not Friday, but it has been awhile since I shared a little bit about myself so I thought I would take today to share 5 facts you may not know about me! 1. I love movies and have a not so healthy obsession with murder shows (Dexter, SVU, Criminal Minds...I love them ALL) SO much so I had to go on a murder show cleanse last year for a few months because I was not getting sleep. 2. Me & my husband have been married for 5 years, even though he hates weddings, he was the one who encouraged me to start my business. Honestly if it wasnt for him I think I would still be working in architecture. 3. I am about to be an aunt!! My sister is due any day now and I am so excited to meet my nephew 😁 4. I love dancing! When I was in college I was a big country swing dancer and would go multiple times a week. I can do flips, turns...you name it. 5. My favorite food is chips & Queso!(specifically Chili’s!) I just wanted to start by saying a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has messaged and checked in on us. I would also like to thank everyone for there patience 💕 It’s taken me a few days to process Sunday’s lockdown update and get my head around exactly what that means for us and our beautiful clients. It sure has been one hell of a year! So to update everyone: all appointments up until the 27th October have been cancelled. I believe I have contacted everyone who hadn’t received the first lockdown message but if you haven’t heard from me please send me a text. All appointments after this date are staying as is (for now) Once we have a confirmed reopen date I will be contacting all clients again in order of missed appointments right back from the start of August with the option of rebooking. Please understand how many clients that is and just how many client have missed appointments since then. I promise we will do our very best to accommodate you all but please be patient with appointments because on top of the back log of canceled appointments we already have pre booked appointments right up until the end of the year. This is such a tough time for all and my heart goes out to anyone that may be struggling and all the small business that continue to have there doors closed. Currently my kids are getting along (this is a rare occasion), they are on “spring break” so I don’t have to homeschool, which is heaven. I miss my friends, family, my job and going to Marshall’s on my lunch break (just to shop around then leave empty handed because the line is always too damn long😆) I keep busy with my home projects, my @onepeloton and my nursing school prerequisite classes (that are all online now which is an extra challenge). I should be done and ready to apply to the nursing program by next spring🤞🏼I’m excited to be working towards that goal. I am a psychiatric-mental health nurse and have 10+ years experience working/volunteering with people with developmental disabilities. My hopes are for B to be a therapy pet so he can share love with so many others. I lost my best friend, Lucky, Feb. 15, 2020. He was about to be 12 yrs old on March 11th. (I’ll post a photo in my story.) He was the perfect dog and anyone who knew me knew that would be a hard thing for me to go through. Lucky became suddenly ill without much warning and there wasn’t much that could be done. He passed fairly quickly, which was good because I wouldn’t have wanted him to suffer, but making the decision to put him down would have been impossible for me. Anyway, I started searching for a dog because I needed to occupy my mind. I found havanese and everything in their description checked my boxes. Next thing you know, my loving husband agreed and we got on a waiting list. We passed on the first litter offered to us. I just wasn’t ready. Then, several weeks later we were offered to choose from 3 litters. Brutus was born on my birthday, Feb. 21. I felt like it was a sign that this was it! He was actually my second choice 🤫. But everything happens for a reason. (Side note: when I got Lucky, I was firm on not wanting a white dog. Then, with B, I was firm on not wanting a black havanese. Well man plans and god laughs. That’s all I have to say on that.) Never having been much for social media, I started this account for B because of needing more of a distraction with still grieving and then Covid. It truly has been one of the highlights of 2020. I’ve met so many incredible people! ❤️ So if you’re still reading, please tell me a little about yourself. I opened liberty and lace 2 years ago with no business being in the bridal industry. I am a fitness instructor and have owned my studio, @thewallcycling since 2012. I’m an expert in making you sweat for a living and helping you feel your best. People thought I was crazy for jumping into bridal but I always said “just watch - it’s going to turn into something great.” And that it did.The shop grew, has been 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘺 successful for its size and I have had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful women in their search for their perfect dress. Some have even become good friends. When COVID-19 hit, I found myself juggling two businesses, in two industries that were getting their asses kicked. I am only one person and small business ownership x 2 during a pandemic has been one of the most challenging things I think I will ever experience. My mentality is If I can’t put my whole heart into something I am working on, I shouldn’t be doing it. Sadly, I had to decide between one love and the other and I have decided to sell the store to one of my dear and wonderful friends, Kate so I focus on my fitness studio, but most importantly be with my family as much as possible. Kate has been working with me for over a year and I truly believe she was put in my life for a reason. She has been a believer of the mentality and brand I have created since the first day she walked in the store. She is going to do wonderful things in this industry and help so many brides feel fabulous. I’m grateful for this experience, I’m proud of what I’ve created & built and I’m still in pinching myself that someone believed so much in what i created, they bought my business from me during a global pandemic. I only just wanted to buy the box of hair products that my friends raved about. I shared that they worked really well because they did. But a business? No, I already had one of those. I didn’t need anything else to “take on.” I didn’t have any extra time or need for more. But I guess we don’t always know what we need, do we? This check is just the bonus on top of what I earned in July. It is a fraction of what this unbelievably generous company paid me. And yet, it’s everything. It’s taking my daughter to and from school and playing with my son during the day. It’s donating to causes I believe in and regularly supporting charities I never had the ability to before. It’s having new adventures and being with my family as much as I want to be. It’s showing my children what happens when you say yes to yourself and don’t give up. It’s retiring early. It’s my husband retiring early. I’ve been it all, I hear it all. You don’t have to fit a mold. You don’t have to be like anyone else or look like anyone but yourself. This company doesn’t care where you came from or what you’ve done. You don’t have to be qualified. You’re enough by simply showing up and not quitting. If you don’t want to be salesy? Don’t be. Don’t want to annoy your family and friends? Great, don’t. Don’t have an “influencer” style social media feed? Me neither. Don’t feel like one of the cool kids? I get you. Busy mom? Hi. No hustle anymore... Despite how awful and scary everything is right now, it has actually been so amazing to catch up on some missed sleep. Working from home saves 2+ hours of my day & has given me so much free time and more time with family I feel so lucky. also sadly pole gym and my night job is not on at the moment but it does mean I have even more free time!! My days use to be going to the city for work then going to gym and pole almost every weeknight then my night job thursdsys and Fridays, sometimes getting only 4 hours sleep before work on Friday morning. My life has changed so much, I was probably so close to burning out in January I could feel it, like I was overloading myself, I honestly use to just wish I had more free time to sleep, cry, relax or just breath.... I really felt like I was always on the go trying to cram as much into my 24 hours as I could... friends, day work, gym, pole, family, night work, cat, eating healthy it was wild... But now all that has gone and Im just grateful for some extra sleep and time to relax and chill with my family 💝💝 (and yes I know Im extremely privileged to still be somewhat employed and to be able to use this time to reset and Im so thankful for that) - @cassiegoesmeow_ on Instagram
I joined a group that focuses on social media growth & marketing, and I was immediately told I needed to narrow my focus to find my true target audience. I thought about this for several days. 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭. I’ve been so thankful that my therapist has moved over to virtual sessions during these times. It makes it easier for us to continue our work. Healing is a big part of mental health, we place a lot of emphasis on healing. Especially for those of us who are recovering from trauma. We want to feel better, be happier, cope with pain, etc... It’s normal to sometimes feel frustrated when the healing process is taking forever. We live in a society that compares our worth with how productive we are. We might feel that healing slowly means we’re less productive and as a result less valuable. As someone with PTSD, Panic Disorder, Depression, and anxiety, I often get extremely frustrated when I have setbacks, it’s upsetting when I’m not getting better as fast as I want. Traumas that are several years old still effect me. I still have severe anxiety that sometimes leads to panic attacks. Sometimes the panic attacks happen without warning or without triggers being present. I can sometimes go weeks without having a panic attack. Some days I’m feeling great, like I can accomplish anything and conquer the world. Other days it’s complete opposite and I’m asking myself “how can I still be feeling this way after all this time?”. 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫 - 𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞! For the longest time I viewed every panic attack, every rough day, every suicidal thought, as starting back at square one. I felt like every bad day canceled out all the healing and progress I’ve made before that. I was told by a good friend that, “healing isn’t linear”. I remember those three words when I’m struggling to get out of bed, having a rough day, or when I’m dealing with past traumas. Healing is like a roller coaster, it won’t happen all at once. It can go up and down, but I’m always moving forward. Struggling and setbacks aren’t fun, but it’s not failure either. When I look back I realize I’m doing much better than I was a few years ago. In honor of @vouschurch 5th year anniversary... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ to think that I never wanted to step foot at VOUS after months of having @jromero_4 inviting me (if it wouldn’t have been for her baptism I probably would’ve never gone). It’s brought so many great things to my life including some amazing friends. But most importantly, it rekindled my relationship with Jesus. It challenged me to dive deeper into the word and into surrendering so that God would do whatever He needed thru me. It’s also brought so much healing into so many areas of my life I didn’t even know were still wounded and has helped develop me in other ways, I never would’ve imagined. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As challenging as this season has been with not being able to attend services and all the division going on in our nation and our churches (I will admit even within my heart), I am forever grateful for this church family, for our pastors and some of the amazing leaders I’ve had over me and pushing me to be better and do better.
