Tonight I made this of a satibapishi Regan @phaggot.planet. They’re amazing and a badass tvshka. Ive been wanting to draw them for awhile now but didn’t know how. The initial part of the assignment I have for @domestika’s Intro to Procreate seemed like a good opportunity to draw them. I haven’t ever been even decent at portraits so I had low expectations- but this turned out better than I thought it would. On the low inspired to do a series of portraits now. As a whole side note - I know myself and many of my Chahta a satibapishi have been wanting Chahta inchunwa really bad. Regan in particular is ready. For them I included the layer with the reference photo under it so they can see the inchunwa on them in color. I also included the reference photo cuz Regan is fierce and though some folks may want to see what I was referencing exactly. Do gór trzeba dojrzeć. . Gdy byłam małą dziewczynką rodzice rok rocznie zabierali mnie w góry. Tatry. Jeździliśmy w Tarty odkąd skończyłam bodaj cztery lata. Niesamowicie mnie to nudziło. Chodzenie, chodzenie, chodzenie... nic ciekawego. No, czasem gdy można było się wdrapać na jakąś skałkę było ciut ciekawiej. Jednak zdaje mi się, że chodzenie po dolinach nie jest najlepszą rozrywką dla dziecka. Zaśmiałam się w duchu gdy na szlaku minęłam ok. 10 letniego chłopca ciągniętego przez tatę za rękę. Jakbym widziała siebie :) Tata wygłaszał mowę motywacyjną, że wszystko co fajne w życiu musi być okraszone wysiłkiem. Ale czy dla kilkulatka naprawdę nagrodą będzie widok na góry? Dla mnie nie było. . Gdy miałam lat już naście pozwolono mi wejść na trudniejsze szlaki. Zrobiło się ciekawiej, ale mimo wszystko nie było to najlepszym sposobem na spędzanie czasu dla czternastoletniej Zosi. . Pierwszy raz pojechałam latem w góry z własnej woli tuż po maturze, ale miłość do gór i wędrówek narodziła się dopiero teraz, po trzydziestce. I kolejna zasłyszana na szlaku historia, która potwierdza moją teorię: „Pokochałam góry, jak pojechałam 3 lata temu sama.” . Może nie warto zatem motywować dzieci zbieraniem pieczątek i znaczków w schroniskach lub lodami na Krupówkach, tylko pozwolić im za kilkanaście, a może kilkadziesiąt lat samodzielnie zasmakować gór? . Ot, takie moje przemyślenia :) . We just heard this morning that our beloved friend, artist, mentor and musician Alan Kozlowski has passed on. All those who knew him will probably agree that he was a rare, hugely soulful and spiritual being – always so full of love and warmth and kindness. Always. So so loved by so so many people in Santa Barbara and elsewhere. He was kind of like the tallest Redwood in our little forest. Always supporting and participating in our local music scene and taking us to spiritual places. Even just by his presence. His home was a regular gathering place for spontaneous after hours jams and he brought his wonderful friends to our humble shop for music and merry making and story telling events when we had his spiritually-enriching photography all over our walls. He invited his dear friends like Jeff Bridges, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, Jeff Postell, Erich Reidl, Johnny Irion and others to come to our stage and jam. And they all came because they Love him. Our friend David Wexler introduced us to Alan and he said today that he’s probably jamming with his dear friends Ravi Shankar and George Harrison now. Deerhoof friends! Were doing another listening party. But this time were not telling you what it is for. What we will tell you is it is something based on the work of our favorite writer, someone who helped open the minds of so many, David Graeber. For those who dont know him, Graeber was a renowned anthropologist writing on anarchism, debt and bullshit jobs He helped start the Occupy Wall St movement, and was a harsh critic of corporate media and politicians of both the neoliberal and neofascist varieties. For someone so deeply critical, he was one of the goofiest, cheerful, and unafraid people weve ever met, which is saying a lot coming as we do from the noise rock scene. Graeber once retweeted Deerhoof and through the magic of DMs we instantly became friends and chatted a lot. He was always supportive. First thing he told me was that he had just been listening to Deerhoof while he was writing his latest piece for @thebafflermag. Eventually in 2018 he came to see us play in London and we met for dinner. We were in touch about our new piece when he passed away. There’s so much. So much to say so much that shouldn’t be said. But it’s all ok. Everything is as it should be. I’ve been purging and cleaning as much as I can in between editing and family time. It’s been a rollercoaster of a month and interesting to say the least. I’m trying to grow with what feels like more rules everywhere I turn. It feels as though one moment one new thing is allowed and another gets taken away. So, I’m thriving on the little things that make me, well, me. A happy and calm version of me. Learning, reading, exercising, sitting in thought and devotion and prayer, working, trying new things (like self portraits), cleaning, purging, organizing and the list goes on. Basically it is a balance of many things that never is truly “balanced” per say. I guess it creates the picture of balance in these little squares right?! There’s so much more underneath these squares. I challenge you to dive deeper into someone’s “IG square” today and ask them something about that square that sticks out to you. Morricone always said that his work was at the service of the films he composed for, but his music was such an integral part of these classic films. Each note rang like a character pushing the plot forward, each score brought the whole film together, and each silence left us speechless and on the edge of our seats. Ennio Morricone didn’t only make soundtracks for films, but for our lives. In honour of the great Maestro, we have created a special Island, a space to remember him and to discover the countless gifts he shared with us. Every participant of this experiment was provided with identical graphic materials and then they were tasked to draw dot, line and spot of any shape and size.
