Как бы я охарактеризовала свой стиль? ⠀ Недавно на интервью спросили об этом, я бросила фразу в стиле что хочу то и напяливаю, после чего мне самой было над чем поразмыслить, ведь могло сложиться впечатление, что такая формулировка может предполагать спонтанность и пофигизм, которые мне, как личности, не только в одежде, но и в целом не присущи. Не хочу больше использовать эту обесценивающую формулировку 😅 ⠀ Решила написать более глубокие мысли на этот счёт. Подумав, я четко для себя решила, что свой стиль комфортнее всего описываю как пост-андеграунд. ⠀ Если взять за основу понятия андеграунда, то приставка «пост» для меня обозначает то, что на неё наслаиваются рефлексии на тему стиля, которые ведут к новым переосмыслениям, собственной философии и принципам самовыражения (читай дополненная база с условиями личного опыта, сферы деятельности и изменчивости мира). В том числе — гибкость и переменчивость с отсылкой на ментальное состояние, потребности. ⠀ Ощущаю, что так комфортно и к чему-то конкретному на каждый день не обязывает. Мой стиль — это огромное поле для экспериментов, потому что я человек творческого призвания, категорически не приемлю рамки и запреты в проявлениях своей индивидуальности. ⠀ Я люблю одеваться, отдавая дань каким-то временным эпохам, кинематографу, тематическим направлениям в музыке, искусстве. Когда мир утопает в многообразии, я предпочитаю плавать. ⠀ Раньше я представить не могла, что в моём обувном шкафу добровольно появится что-то кроме кроссовок. Многие ограничивающие убеждения сужали мой творческий потенциал. Метания от жесткого панк-образа до стритстайла, от миловидной художницы до спортивных андрогинных луков. ⠀ Это всё разная я. Introducing 2020 Wildland Fire Digital Storytelling Micro-Grant Winner Kate Averett (@kateave)! Kate was selected in the Writing category and is one of our US winners. ABOUT KATE: I grew up at the base of the mountains in Eastern Oregon, which led me to start my career in fire on the Wallowa Whitman National Forest in 2015. After five years of working in various locations throughout the Northwest, and finally completing my degree at the University of Idaho, I took a job as a senior on the La Grande Hotshots and found myself almost back home where it all began. As the days drag on, I find myself photographing and writing about the seasons as a way to capture the moments in time as they should be remembered. Outside of fire, I spend my time skiing, writing, and chasing the sunshine. KATES PROJECT VISION: The storytelling I have shared, and will continue to share, has been the thoughts, feelings, and impacts of the fire season on us as firefighters. I will do this mainly through poetry, prose, and photographs to capture and portray the unspoken fears and dangers that wildland fire embraces. Beyond the fears and dangers of our work, we also face experiences that are laced with adrenaline, joy, beauty, and a form of camaraderie that you cant find many other places, let alone in another line of work. The goal of this project is to capture the vulnerabilities and overall mentality of wildland fire that is often overlooked. FAVORITE THING ABOUT WILDLAND FIRE: My favorite thing about wildland fire is the fire family I have created throughout the seasons. I love finding myself on a fire in the middle of nowhere randomly bumping into folks Ive met in years past. When time permits, I always try to take a moment to catch up and exchange stories.
