Earlier in the week I posted about how progressive overload is the forgotten side of the coin in body transformations. This week I’ve brought it up more than once in check-ins, as clients come to to the end of their diet phases we are looking two things. 1. Bringing food back up, returning energy balance to a much more suitable position to build muscle. 2. We are getting VERY specific with what they still want to improve. Setting key performance goals in the gym and getting brutally strong is what creates change! I’ve had a few girls ask if they will ever be curvy this week. Making it clear they are happy with how their stomach looks but would like their legs, arms or bum to look a little more toned. I was shocked (read gutted) at the lack of definition I had and even more disappointed at my ability to fill a bikini top 👀😅 DM Jade if you want that embarrassing story haha. However the point is, I had zero chest. I also had a sketchy looking 60kg bench, I set the goal of being able to bench two plates (100kg) to get a bigger chest, I took this a little further until I hit a three-plate bench (140kg) then dieted a little. I won’t be filling bikinis anytime soon but the difference is clear. Want a bigger ass, pick two-three movement and get stronger in them. Today is #NationalFitnessDay which made me reminisce on when (and why!) I started this journey to begin with. . On the left, I was eating exclusively fast food. Yes, I know I look “fine” and I would have agreed with you. But I didn’t *feel* fine. I had really bad digestive + GI issues and felt sluggish non-stop. I thought these things were normal 🤷‍♀️ until I realized... they’re not. . I started my fitness journey first and foremost to heal my body from the inside, out. Any physical change was just the cherry on top. I won’t say I didn’t care about the physical changes at all, but instead of wanting to be “skinny” I wanted to be STRONG and seeing that strength + all my hard work in the gym (and with my nutrition) come to life via my physical body, was so exciting and empowering!! . I never thought this type of physical change was possible. I chalked up anyone who was fit to their genetics, or to their extreme lifestyle + that they *MUST* have lived in the gym. I didn’t know that while yes, genetics play a part, your daily habits play a larger part. The photo on the right, I was eating 80/20 and working out 4x a week for 1 hr and eventually transitioned to 6x a week for 30 mins (FBG!! 😁) That’s it! . I never thought I could be “that person” who created a lifestyle surrounding fitness. I never wanted to be, honestly. But I needed to change the path my health was heading down, and I eventually fell in love with the journey. I fell in love with feeling actually energized for once!! I fell in love with feeling STRONG. . This is exactly why I created my FBG guides + eventually, the @fitbodyapp. I knew firsthand just how hard it is to get started AND to stay on track. I wanted to be sure that none of you girls ever had to struggle with figuring out what workouts to do or what meals to eat in order to get the most out of your time and effort. . As I’m starting my journey again from scratch, I’m reminded of how hard it is. How discouraging it is to feel so weak. But this journey is largely a mental one, much more than a physical one. Meet @michobabyy - I grew up morbidly obese. My entire life revolved around obesity! Health and fitness literally saved my life. ⠀⁣ It’s not about how I look today; it’s about how I feel. The key component for this kind of case is knowing when you need a bodylift or tummytuck. This patient came in thinking that a tummytuck would’ve sufficed, but had she not had a bodylift, she would’ve had massive dog ears and excess tissue. Sometimes you want a minimal surgery (nobody wants to get a body lift) but it’s better to get the surgery you NEED, not the surgery you want. Surgeons may not tell you that you need a body lift because.. A. It’s far more complicated to do so and they don’t know how. B. They know you’re gonna freak out so they’d rather not lose you as a patient. C. It’s more expensive, they don’t want to discourage you. This patient was also told she could have liposuction of her love handles instead of cutting out the skin. Ik vertelde hem dat het even niet zo goed met mij gaat.. Zijn antwoord: ‘’Dacht ik al, kom maar snel hierheen, de bokszakken hangen klaar!”🥊 De maand mei gebruikte ik om alles op een rijtje te zetten. Ik had de keuze om ‘in de ring te blijven liggen of om op te staan’ en er sterker uit te komen.Ik koos voor dat laatste. Ik heb mijn persoonlijk en zakelijke doelen op papier gezet en concreet gemaakt! ✅ Vanaf 1 juni ben ik gaan knallen..zakelijk ben ik bezig mijn droom te volgen en privé heb ik gisteren mijn eerste doel bereikt. 🙋‍♂️ Dit persoonlijk doel was mij nooit gelukt zonder de onvoorwaardelijke steun en waanzinnige coaching van Simion en Walter. Met als middel een bijzonder efficiënt trainings- en voedingsschema (en de stok achter de deur die Walter heet) is het gelukt om binnen 6 weken van 80 kg naar 70 kg te gaan met daarbij een daling in vet% van 18,9% naar 6,2%.🥇 In al die jaren bij welke sportschool dan ook nog nooit gelukt dit te bereiken. En we gaan door! Lots of people lose weight... But many struggle to keep it off. Ive been fortunate enough to maintain my loss. And as your favorite internet fitness guru (😉), I can tell you this... You need to start trusting yourself. Because if you dont, youll continue to feel stuck. ~ For a long time, I had ZERO trust in myself. So I would avoid any situation that could potential throw me off track. Clearly, it worked. But once I lost weight, that lack of trust stuck around. And it was negatively affecting every area of my life. While everyone else at college was going out, meeting new people, and living their best life... I was hiding in my dorm room. Stuck at a crossroads. Do I keep living in fear of gaining back my weight?... Or do I start trusting myself? Luckily, I chose the latter. ⠀ Instead of saying, “Im a mindless eater who cant control myself. Id say, “I can trust myself to make good choices in the moment. Instead of restricting myself, I had trust that I could use restraint and moderation. ~ Heres the kicker, though. I still had days where Id overeat. I still had days where Id skip workouts. I just wouldnt let those moments get me down. I knew that Id fall off from time to time... But I trusted myself to get back on track. ~ There are going to be moments when you fall off track. When you royally fuck up and eat like an asshole. When you get lazy and choose Netflix over exercise. Those. Moments. Are. Going. To. Happen. What ultimately matters is how you respond. And how you respond is determined by how much you trust yourself. Youre going to eat off plan... Trust that you can get right back on track. Youre going to skip workouts... It might sound weird but I inspire myself. As I get back into a solid training routine I keep watching photos of my favourite shots. It’s like a reminder of how badass I can be as an athlete. As you know, I like to dive deep in mastering a subject, thats what I do. I think its important to understand that success doesnt come overnight, it usually takes so much of you. // Lets take fitness, I started because I wanted to be in the SWAT team. For 3 years no matter what it took physically and mentally, I did it to a sickening level which results in getting in shape and then being known for it. Then for 4 years, I invested all my being in helping hundreds of thousands of people summon the power of physical activities to change their lives. Now, for the last 4 years, I wanted to master business, building teams, systems and to put it simply add tools to my bag to reach my ultimate goal! // I guess Im saying just all of this just to share that Focus is the true power. You cant be your best self without it and you have to decide where you need to invest your time in because theres so much you can do in 24h. // Health should always be there but not always to the same level. - 3 months of progress

First off I want to say thank you to everyone that’s followed the start of my journey n helped me in anyway possible, it means the world. On November 15th 2018 (left)I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, at the time I was 14. The 3 days prior to this I was extremely sick, I couldn’t eat or drink anything and keep it down. Due to this I lost over 20kg in 72 hours, at this point I couldn’t even walk out of bed to go to the toilet as I had no energy. The ambulance proceeded to come to my house and ended up rushing me into hospital as I had 700 mg/dl blood sugar (average human has between 80-100 mg/dl of sugar in their blood) by the time they realised this I was semi-comatose and had to be taken into ICU (Intensive care unit) After spending 2 days there, the doctors finally got my blood sugars under control and officially diagnosed me with type 1 diabetes. This came to me as a shock as there is no history in my family of this disease, the doctor proceeded to explain everything that I had to know to be able to live my new lifestyle.This all happened fast and I was forced to grow up and sort myself out in order to live a healthy life. Fast forward to September 15th 2019 (11 months since my diagnosis) Life since my diagnosis had been rough and very weird for me, however I was ready to turn the negative into a positive so I started going to the gym. The first few months were slow and steady but I was so motivated to make a change and try and stand out from the average teens. For the first few month I would go to the gym before school started, and some days even after. I was meal prepping for the week every Sunday night and making sure I ate enough food to grow. As of today, September 15th 2020. I have been training for one full year, 365 days. If I was told one year ago how far I would come in such a short amount of time I would have never believed it, however with hard work and dedication absolutely anything and I mean ANYTHING is possible, just depends how bad you want it. Ive come so far and I am not stopping anytime soon and there isn’t one person in the world that could take this away from me. Wie fühlst du dich mit deiner Haut am Bauch?! 🤷🏼‍♀️ Das ist eine gute Frage. Ich sehe nach und nach wie mein Bauch schlaffer wird und meine Haut hängt... das Gewebe schlaffer wird und man meine Dehnungsstreifen zunehmend sieht. Optisch stört mich das mal so gar nicht tatsächlich 🤷🏼‍♀️ Es ist meine Geschichte, die mein Körper mit sich trägt und das ist okay so ♥️ Ganz lange Zeit habe ich meine hängende Haut auch gar nicht wahrgenommen. Es war für mich selbstverständlich, dass mein Bauch beim Sitzen und auch im Stehen vollständig aufgefüllt war und deutlich über meine Brust hinausragte. Mittlerweile hat sich viel geändert. Erstmal bewerte ich meinen Bauch nicht mehr so wie früher. Ob er vorsteht oder irgendwo hervorsieht... er gehört zu mir. Ende aus Micky Maus... 🤷🏼‍♀️ ♥️ Und dann hat es einfach auch sehr lange gebraucht, dass ich realisiert habe, dass ich viel Bauchmasse abgenommen habe. Ich habe zwar immer noch eine ordentliche Fettschicht unter der Bauchdecke ... aber ich kann mittlerweile meinen gesamten Bauch hochziehen an der Haut. Das war früher undenkbar, weil er einfach prall gefüllt war 🤷🏼‍♀️ Ich bin froh, dass sich mein Bild von mir selber und meinem Bauch einfach gewandelt hat ♥️ Und ich glücklicher bin als vorher! Nicht nur wegen des Abnehmens... sondern auch wegen meinem gewandelten Bild von meinem Körper ♥️ Ich werde niemals aufgeben! Und das solltest du auch nicht! Today’s highlight from the #GetEMBodiedChallenge . This is Kelsey. Kelsey has literally busted her ass every day of this challenge, has never let discouragement get in her way, and has lots of progress to show for it. She’s down 8lbs and a total of 8 inches in the first 4 weeks of the challenge. ✨ A large majority of her progress is due to her diligence and following the plan that’s laid out for her, but another huge component is one that I see so many people struggling with… SLEEP. Before this challenge, Kelsey reported sleeping maybe 1-4 hours a night, sometimes going 48 hours with no sleep, to now sleeping 7-10 hours per night consistently. Sleep plays a huge role in fat loss. Poor/irregular sleep is going to make you more tired (duh), which will lead to: 🔹poor training sessions, 🔹increased injury risk, 🔹lower energy expenditure (NEAT) throughout the day since you’ll be less likely to be moving around. ✨ Not only that, but irregular and/or poor sleep patterns can also throw hunger hormones and digestion out of whack, potentially leading you to overeating throughout your day. Sleep is one of the most commonly overlooked variables in your fitness/fat loss journey. But hopefully not after reading this 😉. ✨ Great job, Kelsey. I weigh the same in both of the pictures. Past 3.5 years have been really hard had set big goals for myself but in past few years have only gone down but that’s okay, that’s what life is all about. Shit goes down and the things you planned goes down as well. On the left is me skipping workouts, stress eating. On the right is me doing something. Now when finally things are going really well have set some bigger goals for myself again. Let’s see where I go in next 4 years, Plan is to put on mass and compete after few years. Your start point will dictate your end point. Or if you can even get there 👀⬇️🆘 ⁣post 2/6 Many people struggle to reach their goal weight and dont know why.⁣ ⁣ Things get tough and they give up, rebounding and gaining weight back even quicker than before, see my previous post for why this is and how this is killing your metabolism! Here we have 2 examples with the same % drops in weight but a very different starting positions. The first one is starting on a good amount of calories and therefore has room to make some drops along the way and ‘finish’ X weeks sustainably and reach their goal without having to go so low calories they end up quitting and bingeing. The 2nd example, a worse start point means your going to hit the floor of how long you want to go with food quickly meaning you probably won’t be able to diet for long enough to reach your end goal. Also if your training 6+ times per week you probably don’t have ‘the card to play’ of increasing calories burnt from training / cardio / steps. This means the only variable you’ve got to play with is reducing food. If youve yo yo cycled for a while and arent at your goal weight whilst on relatively low calories and high training/ cardio then its time to take a step back. Focus on health and building Metabolic rate higher with what we call a reverse diet.⁣ ⁣ Any questions on dieting, weight loss stalling or reverse dieting?? I miss #transformationtuesday but I am still going to share this, so here is a little #wednesdaymotivation comin at ya! Lately I was getting down on myself about lack of progress and beating myself up about gaining so much weight after my last competition. I decided to do a comparison photo to see just how far I fell off track, but instead of being disgusted with how I let myself go, I was pleasantly surprised with the transformation and progress I’ve made 🙌🏻 The photo on the left is one of my first check in photos for my first prep. Yes I had a long way to go at this point, but it was one of the first times I felt comfortable in a bikini. However, I chose this photo because it was before I was in an extreme dieting phase, but also a time where I weighed significantly less than I do now. Fast forward two years and almost a 15-20lb weight gain, the photo on the right is where I currently am at now. I may weight quite a bit more now, but overall progress has taken place! It may not be drastic, but I can see it and that’s what’s most important since my journey is about me and not pleasing others. Since competing I have been seeking balance in my life, striving to love myself at all phases and fixing my relationship not only with my body but with food as well. If you are someone who is struggling and getting down on yourself about lack of progress or feeling like you let yourself go, just know that you are not alone! We all struggle, we all have negative thoughts, but sometimes changes are taking place and we just don’t see them yet. ❌LESS WEIGHT WILL NOT BRING YOU MORE WORTH❌ I rarely post body pictures of my journey but feel like this needs to be heard. As you can see in these photos I am a whole range of shapes and sizes, from scary skinny to bloated and puffy. I was OBSESSED with my body during this time and would chase happiness and worth by how I looked. 🔥THE TRUTH🔥 In NONE of these photos did I feel happy or worthy. #LongPost After being chubby all my life, I was finally able to lose some weight, and feel confident that it wouldn’t bounce back. Hope this post inspires you to eat right and stay active. It took a lot for me to post this but I believe we deserve to be healthy and learn what’s best for our body 🤯 .... [Quick summary] hired health coach @darrennnliu and in 4 weeks time, lost 5.5kg & waist down 3” . [Full story] July 5, I was utterly frustrated with my weight/body after my best effort to “Eat well and Exercise hard” during the quarantine period from April to June😤 . I figured I wasn’t doing it right so I decided to get real help from health coach @darrennnliu and prior to reaching out, I had been following his IG and his stuff made sense to me. . Fast forward to Aug 5, I am thrilled to say that my decision was 100% worth it (as seen in pictures). I have new relationships with food and exercise and in my eyes, it is also sustainable, not a so-called “diet” to lose weight fast and just to return to where we were before. I know we have all been there 😔 . Most importantly, I never had to starve in this program and always got to eat until I’m full. I don’t have to cut carbs, WHAT⁉️ . ⭐LIFESTYLE CLIENT PROGRESS ⭐ (Just under 20 months between pics) Playing the LONG GAME. The trouble with wanting to get somewhere as fast as you can, is that you often have to sacrifice A LOT of things that make the journey better- sustainable, safer, more comfortable & more effective- along the way. Even more so if youre not in a great position to make the journey directly to your desired goal to begin with (e.g. long history of crash dieting, poor relationship with food). All in the name of shortcuts. Its a bit like driving a car from one place to one tens of thousands of kilometres away. A car thats never serviced, has worn tyres & 1/4 of a tank of gas, might get you to the first stop- but then what? Its likely youll end up spending more money, time & effort to constantly change tyres, paying for repairs & refilling the tank. And all that- plus you still might not ever get to your destination. A car thats looked after to begin with, safety checked with a full tank of gas- is going to get you a lot further, more safely, more comfortably & probably require a lot less money on repairs/servicing along the way, because of the INITIAL INVESTMENT to begin with. Sure that takes time- but taking a longer time to get to your destination is better than staying where you are doing wheelies around that same roundabout crying about not getting anywhere!🤷‍♀️ Are you taking shortcuts to get somewhere sooner, only to end up a few kilometres up the road from where you started years ago? Isnt it time to invest in yourself enough to ensure youre setting yourself up for a better journey to where you want to go? Time for a progress post for the craic. For the past 6 months I have been getting the online monthly subscription coaching from @gobeyonddave and its been going brilliantly. I took a break from strict eating and training after the RIBBF Nationals and I always wanted to work with @teamgobeyond after seeing all the progress and results their clients have received. Come the new year (#newyearnewme 😂😂) I decided it was time to get some structure and accountability into my training. My goal was lean muscle gain but with a focus on performance as I like my training to complement my karate training and to keep mobile. From the beginning Dave was an absolute gent and very easy to work with. Any question, worry or quiery was always answered quickly with reassurance. From a food perspective I really enjoy the meal plan and I was never ever expected to eat something I didnt like. Frequent tweaks here and there kept it fresh and stopped me getting bored with the food. Not every week was perfect but Dave always pushed me forward with positivity and was never negative. It is great to work with someone who has the knowledge and expertise to bring out your potential. The results speak for themselves.
