WE peacefully march to be heard, WE march to destroy ideals of racial bias and injustice, WE march to be stronger together! . . . Imagine how truly powerful and amazing this country could be if we banded together and there was equality amongst all of its inhabitants. To many this may seem like a far fetched hope because it is so deeply rooted in our nations history. However with that mentality...without action, that will always be the case! WE shall continue to uplift, WE shall continue to UNITE and when that day comes WE will truly see how wonderful this country...this World was supposed to be ✊🏽✊🏼✊🏾✊🏻✊🏿🖤 #blacklivesmatter #strongertogether #change #spreadlove - @kendall_austin98 on Instagram

Revolution Gen Z had organized a protest that started outside NMAAHC before marching into town. The teenagers faced quite a bit of harassment and being shouted at by unmasked masses participating in a religious rally that was also on the mall today. First Amendment rights are crucial but so is wearing masks during a pandemic of an air born virus (the Gen Z group required them). The speakers were inspiring and it’s wonderful to hear youth find their voice and speak out for their futures. #revolutiongenz #blm #vote #nojusticenopeace @dcteensaction #youthactivism #youthactivist #fightforyourfuture @bcc4change - @kareneramsey on Instagram

It’s not a few bad cops, it’s a corrupt system. The movement to defund police is not asking for anarchy. It is demanding an alternative that keeps everyone safe, regardless of their race, religion, gender, occupation, income etc. Coming to the defense of a system that murders black and brown people, every day, is racist. You will not convince me otherwise. 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐊 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤? Britain has the second largest policing budget per capita in Europe and has some of the most wide-reaching and intrusive public surveillance measures in the world. This includes a police programme that has spied on more than 1,000 organisations, including black families campaigning against police racism. While the cost of this spying is almost impossible to quantify, the cost of the inquiry into the spying alone is at least £17m. The answer to police violence is not reform. Its defunding. Heres why.. The government continues to announce higher incarceration and 4 new prisons. The total bill for the UK criminal justice system, comprising policing, law courts and prisons in 2018-19 was £28.8bn – more than we spend on primary education, more than we spend on social care and far more than we spend on social housing or the environment. But it is precisely these areas of public life which hold the solutions to the problems that the police and prison system are failing to improve. #DefundThePoliceUK does not mean an immediate end to policing, but instead investing in social policies that prevent people from experiencing violence and harm in the first place. More than 750 youth centres have closed, and over 4,500 youth workers have been laid off in England and Wales. Hundreds of thousands of our most vulnerable young people have been cut off from a vital resource: Interventions should be available to our young people 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 they encounter the criminal justice system, particularly if at risk of violence, being pressured into criminalised activity, or living in dangerous home environments. We have the largest prison population in western Europe. Black Britons make up 12% of adult prisoners and more than 20% of children in custody – compared to just 3% of the general population. #BlackLivesMatter protesters do not demand police defunding because of institutional racism alone: it is a demand that seeks tangible, evidenced and effective improvements in public safety for ALL, beginning with who needs It most. Five years ago today, Dylann Roof, an American white supremacist, targeted and murdered 9 black men and women by opening fire on a full church service. The police’s body cam footage shows officers calmly apprehending Roof with minimal violence, even after identifying him as a mass murderer. They even drove him to Burger King because he claimed he hadn’t eaten all day. He is still alive today. George Floyd allegedly and likely unknowingly used a counterfeit bill. Rayshard Brooks fell asleep in a Wendy’s drive thru. Philando Castile was pulled over for a traffic violation and reached to get his license like the officer asked him to. Sandra Bland was taken into custody for a minor traffic violation. Eric Garner was selling cigarettes. Terrence Crutcher had car problems. Tamar Rice was a 12-year-old boy playing with a toy gun. Alton Sterling was selling DVD’s. Breonna Taylor was asleep in her own bed. Elijah McClain was walking home from a convenience store. These people were not calmly apprehended. They were not offered Burger King or asked if they had eaten that day. This is just a few of a seemingly never-ending list of Black men and women who have been murdered at the hands of the police. It’s 2020 and we are still living in a world where Black people are seen as a threat just because of the color of their skin. WE HAVE HAD 6 LYNCHINGS WITHIN THE PAST MONTH!! I’ve heard many unnecessary comments in the past couple of days and one of them was “it’s not my problem”. If you listen to black music, if you participate in black culture, if you have black friends then this is your fight too! Just because something doesn’t personally affect you does not mean it’s okay not to care when our black brothers and sisters are being murdered at the hands of police officers that are supposed to protect them. All lives cannot matter until Black lives are treated like they do. All lives don’t have to worry about whether they will get home safe or if they too will become just another statistic at the hands of racist law enforcement. All lives don’t get hung from trees in 2020 America and get ruled a suicide!!! BLACK LIVES MATTER HERE. PC: @theotusmedia 📸 @_the.mvmnt ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 - @ohhkristina on Instagram

This is the third share from [E•N] Take Over: “Love Is An Action” • Indecent events have gravely brought to my attention the upheaval of a misplaced ‘tradition’ - a ‘tradition’ fathered and fostered on the grounds of the U.K - that has no place other than at the bottom of a grotesque uninhabitable pit far from where we LIVE AND BREATHE: • We (Our Own Sisters & Brothers) have been channelled to endure being played silently, distracted by fruitless, deliberate, incoherent ignorance!// Excuse layered with excuse, stirred with neglect, it is the “Anti-Solution” indoctrinated racism that is far from plain and transparent. • Rather, it is gruelling and insidious. It strolls winter, spring, summer and autumn within a stench of privilege. Flickering at the surface it elicits only seconds of their attention, the licking of their lips, the momentary pause of discomfort - there there.. I’ll pat your back shall I? NO. I ADDRESS YOU, RIGHT NOW! • Marginalise we are not, minorities we are not! Intolerant and asphyxiated till we weep our last right, we are not retiring until we are accepted. Until then, we direct our hearts into every piece of where we be. No more will I stand with the tide against MY CHEST WHEN THE YOUTH MAKING UP GROUND BEHIND ME DESERVE A BETTER OUTCOME FOR THEIR FUTURE. • NOW DECIDE WHICH WAY YOU WANT TO TURN. Being “not racist” isn’t enough anymore. As someone who is given a privilege in society simply because I’m white, I will never truly understand what it is like to fear my daily routine. I can go anywhere and do anything without the fear of questioning or violence. Because I am white. I may not know much, but I know that God created us all equally. There is no such thing as a mistake in His eyes, there is no superior skin color. He made us so that we can love each other. Please use your voice. Call others out when you hear or see racism. Sign petitions until there is change. Donate if you can. Keep talking. All lives cannot matter UNTIL black lives matter. - @becccahamilton on Instagram

Don’t be fooled by what you might be seeing on the news from the comfort of your home. The majority of what is happening out there right now is peaceful and deserves to be seen and heard. Things may get messy once the sun sets but please don’t let that discount the fact that there are countless peaceful demonstrations just like this one happening all over the country every day. Taking a knee alongside thousands & thousands of Minneapolis residents against racism and inequality and celebrating our city and our community was powerful. You don’t need to protest for your voice to be heard. But at the very least, please educate yourself on the issues at hand and what we can do to help implement change in this country and grow as a society. #blacklivesmatter #sayhisname - @iamawakend on Instagram

#Blackouttuesday It’s Everyone V.S. Racism. As many are aware, We as a whole in 2020 have been faced with many catastrophic events going on, from COVID to now the intensity of racial profiling on all levels. I pray for everyone’s safety and recommend that everyone do what you have to do to protect whats yours and your family. Many of our hero activists preached violence is not the answer and I agree, but It seems that now this type of response is finally getting the attention of the few. I don’t agree with looting, neither do I agree on tearing down every community. Even though many people have insurance on their properties, others still have their whole life invested into their businesses This event has to be part of their plan and hiring others individuals to start riots like this to distract the minds from their main intention. Media is one of the tools & now in the 21st century we have quality technology to document it now. The videos that I’ve seen on the media continue to get worse and it’s VERY sad. We must develop a strategic solution to create positive impact on this corrupted system that was converted from PLANTATION TO CORPORATION. #alllivesmatter #empowerment #change #God #king #queen #community #unity #humanrights #blacklivesmatter - @gregbankz_ on Instagram

America is so racist that protestors for blue lives matter were chanting “USA” to counter the #BLM movement. I think what’s more frustrating about racism is the complicity of ignorance. One of the protesters for blues lives broke the line to approach me to talk. I stepped forward and my people stepped up to have my back. But I said it was cool, I got this. I was hoping that maybe a brief interaction with someone who had a different perspective, would maybe listen. He asked, “what is the purpose of all this? I’m not a racist.” He we went onto say he was a retired cop and that this was the most dangerous time to be a police officer. Mind you, there were hundreds of them and about 50 of us. The police with guns and badges were patrolling us with their backs to the blue lives protestors. We were pinned between the police, their supporters, and the police precinct. They were flipping us off, telling us to go back to the ghetto, chanting for Goya, and breaking the lines to get into our faces while we had masks on but they didn’t. Yet, the 50 of us strong, not even close to violent (best believe if someone put their hands on me, it would’ve been on sight), barricaded from the spew of hate in our streets— but we were the threat. Hmm. I told the guy who approached me that this is the point. Look around you. You had the privilege of retiring with pension and benefits. Without that badge and gun, you are still a white man that doesn’t have to worry about being an opportunity for someone to harm in our communities. At the end of the day, it was a job. There is no job application for being a Black, brown, or indigenous person in this country. We have to carry the burden of systemic racism everywhere we go. The rally for blue lives undermines everything we are fighting for. So you may say you’re not racist, but your ignorance is complicit into it. He walked away with his children by his side. I’m not sure if they listened. Maybe they won’t be like their parents. But that’s the sad reality. We don’t know. Our children might be fighting theirs in the very same streets one day. Let’s hope for a better world. 📸 @coco.butter.shutter - @shaniyat2020 on Instagram

I work for @facebook , a company whose mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. I cant say that I was surprised by the outpouring of love thrown my way these past few days by my smart, gifted and caring colleagues. What has been happening to people like me all over the world has left many of us heartbroken, but not defeated. I am hopeful for this situation to change at the systemic level, and willing to fight for it and support anyone accelerating that process. We will be heard, listened to, seen and respected. Like many Black employees, I expect more from our leadership in support of Black people and the issues we face everyday. Facebookʼs recent decision to not act on posts that incite violence ignores other options to keep our community safe. The policy pigeonholes us into addressing harmful user-facing content in two ways: keep content up or take it down. I believe that this is a self-imposed constraint and implore @zuck to revisit the solution. We have the opportunity to stand for free expression and actively be involved in the conversation. Ancestral remains and artifacts belong where they are, unmolested or destroyed by explosives or heavy equipment. Destruction of these sacred sites brings more pain to an already painful history, all for what? There will be more pain, more suffering and more death that will come with this border fence. The last 25 years has taught us that much. . Laws are in place to ensure Native tribes are involved in construction projects that involve historical resources, but federal agencies are able to obtain waivers or other ways to supersede those “federal protections.” Soil testing for indigenous burial grounds needs to become a requirement. . Border Patrol claims there is a cultural monitor on site to ensure construction is halted if any artifacts are uncovered. Either they are not paying attention or not doing their job, because tool artifacts and bones have been discovered in the construction zone. Border Patrol claims they have surveyed the land and claim there are “no biological, cultural, or historical sites identified in the blasting area” but history teaches us Border Patrol is crooked, evil and lies continuously. . “I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change, I am changing the things I cannot accept.” - Dr Angela Davis. 50,000 showed up & out today in LA. I’m so proud of humanity, even in this dark time right now. SO many have come before this generation and fought & died for this cause, and to see this generation take the torch from our ancestors and continue pushing for justice, freedom and equality for all is phenomenal. There are many ways to contribute to the cause and marching the streets definitely isn’t the only way, but I strongly suggest at least getting out there once just to feel the energy, heart and souls of complete strangers fighting for the exact same thing as you. No pictures or words can capture the feeling. RIP George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the many, many, many other black lives that have been senselessly lost to police violence. Our goal is to be apart meaningful CHANGE in this city ! Just because we’re quiet doesn’t mean we aren’t working. Give us opportunities but also hold your existing employees accountable. Attend the board meeting July 27th at 5pm ———————————————————- •Provide them with the necessary training to educate black & brown students. • •Amend policies and breakdown curriculums that aren’t inclusive and culturally competent. • • Hiring black teachers doesn’t fix the deficiencies in classrooms run by white teachers. • • So we’re not only addressing the fact we need more representation but also making sure that White Folks either commit to being better educators & breaking down racist behavior or they leave. #blackinbayonne #bayonne #nj #blacklivesmatter #urbaneducation #blackeducators #community #educatorsforblacklives - @blackinbayonne on Instagram

To all of my brothers and sisters out there protesting, THANK YOU. It is time for change. Following was taken from @nataliesummerz : First, America was founded on a riot. The American Revolution was a colonial revolt which occurred between 1765 and 1783 and led to the creation of a new nation. During this revolution, protests steadily escalated to the Boston Massacre in 1770 and the burning of the Gaspee in Rhode Island in 1772, followed by the Boston Tea Party in December 1773. So, what’s the difference between “white” Americans fighting/rioting for their freedom and Black Americans fighting for justice?! I’ll wait. Second, as people continue to fixate on the riots/looting and their personal opinion on whether it’s right vs wrong, they need to shift their energy on ALL 4 murderer cops being arrested. Who are you to tell people how to deal with their anger? Who are you to stop a person who feels like they have NOTHING left to lose to peacefully express themselves? Who are you to attempt to control the rage WE HAVE. Who are you to dictate what’s the “right” way to protest? Yet, you type from the comfort of your home judging them. Ignoring the fact that there were hundreds of peaceful protestors during the rioting/looting that aren’t getting your attention. Why? Because you’d rather fixate on the negative. If it was your son, daughter, mother, father, aunt, uncle murdered in the street under the knee of a racist cop would you be calling for peace?! Black people have been forgiving... we have peacefully protested for Amaud Arbery, Bothem Sean, Atatiana Jefferson, Jonathan Ferrell, Renisha McBride, Stephon Clark, Jordan Edwards, Jordan Davis, Alton Sterling, Aiyana Jones, Tamir Rice, The Charleston9, Trayvon Martin, Sean Bell, Oscar Grant, Sandra Bland, Philando Castile, Corey Jones, John Crawford, Terrence Crutcher, Keith Scott, Clifford Glover, Claude Reese, Randy Evans, Yvonne Smallwood, Amadou Diallo, Walter Scott, Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, & Christian Cooper. New Black Lives Matter monument by Marc Quinn in Bristol, England! ‘A Surge of Power (Jen Reid) 2020’ was covertly installed last night on a plinth where a slave trader formerly stood. A few words about the monument from Marc Quinn: “Today, Bristol resident Jen Reid and I have unveiled a new temporary, public installation, ‘A Surge of Power (Jen Reid) 2020’, on top of Edward Colston’s empty plinth in Bristol, England. This life-sized sculpture is based on an image I saw on Instagram of local resident Jen Reid standing on the vacant plinth with her fist raised in a Black Power salute, a spontaneous moment following a Black Lives Matter protest in June 2020. During the protest, a statue of 17th century slave trader Edward Colston was toppled from this spot. Cast in black resin, this new sculpture ‘A Surge of Power (Jen Reid) 2020’ takes its place - no formal consent has been sought for the installation.” photo credit : Marc Quinn (@marcquinnart ) #blacklivesmatter #marcquinnart #5thplinth #publicart - @thefloatingmuseum on Instagram

It all started out peaceful..Initially I came out on some Art of War shit 🧠...but I had to understand...some of my people came out on some Start of War shit 💥and though that day I had not come mentally geared for combat, I HAD/HAVE to support that!...before it popped off I thought a lot, about them makin it home to their kids/family. Hoping none of them would end up a casualty of such War...but it was beautiful!! I documented my young brothers and sisters (whether they realized it or not) STRATEGICALLY handle their shit!! Regardless of what anyone else thinks. I’m proud of my people! Tampa, Chicago, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Oakland etc. This shit IS..necessary! ALL of our past successes that were destroyed set us back WAAAYYY further than the businesses and whatever possessions we have now!! We would’ve had all this stuff 1000 or more times over by now! Because like I said on FB earlier.. • • “It might’ve been your ancestors...maybe you aren’t racist..but it’s unfortunate...because sometime..Karma comes back on your kids..or grandkids...so it’s unfortunate..but it is what it is..” • • There’ll never be peace until we PIECE ourselves back together!! Thoughts after week 1: I have witnessed and felt everything on the emotional spectrum, from rage to hope and everything in between. All these gatherings this week is a true testament to the power of the black community and it’s leaders. I recognize that this is only the beginning, and also recognize that as Latinx people we need to DO BETTER. It is our duty to stand next to them during this historical moment and also our duty to educate ourselves further on how we contribute to the very systems and ideals that marginalize blackness. A BROWN man drove into a crowd and shot a black man yesterday in Seattle, that is inexcusable and we must take responsibility for toxicity that remains in our community. In my bio I have added a great list of resources and articles I found online about Anti-Blackness in our community. Please go through it. Now I’m not saying I applaud the violence of a few individuals among the crowd, but I’d rather not sit here and judge someone over their actions to do so, especially being a white male with undeniable white privilege. I will not be silent, but in doing so I also will choose to not judge this situation. If anything at all comes about from this, I hope that police will start thinking more from a human perspective and think twice about their actions. Only time will tell. 2020, what’s next? When my son asks, “Why do cops kill black people?” What should the appropriate response be? . These are the conversations I, as well as many other black parents have with our children. . We have to teach them how to conduct themselves around police so they don’t make them “fear for their life”. . I’ve never been involved in politics, but this isn’t just “politics”, this is about humanity. I’m going to use my platform to help bring awareness to what’s happening in our country. So that in the future, black parents won’t need to have these difficult conversations with their kids. . For those that are using their platforms to inform and educate others about these issues, I am grateful. You’re a real one 🖤. . 📸 @j_seymourr - @mikedjoseph on Instagram

I honestly don’t know where to start. I have so much on my heart right now... Nashville I am so proud of you today. At least 10K of us came together in peaceful support and it was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. It finally struck me today as I took Lucy for our morning walk. The neighborhood I walk through is full of nice enough people, but people that are always keeping an eye out. I finally realized today in my minor discomfort of feeling watched, how much more worried or even scared I would be as a black woman. Would these eyes watching me call the police at the site of a black person near their yard? Would I even feel safe enough to take that walk? Especially if I didn’t have a dog with me and thus a “reason” to be out walking... I’ve been ignorant to these simple privileges. As a straight, white female in America there are a lot of things I haven’t had to think about before conducting my life. Yes, I’ve had my struggles and yes, there are certain considerations I have to make just as a woman. But it is NOTHING compared to the culture my black sisters and brothers have been battling for 400 years. I’m sorry I haven’t been doing more. I thought not being racist was enough. I thought loving and embracing black culture was enough. I thought giving my best service across my bar and my tables to people of color was enough. I thought calling a couple people out in my time had been enough. It is not. There is so much work to be done. I am not looking for an “atta girl” from anyone. I am not looking for any consoling to my heavy heart. You do not need to accept my apology and you do not need to comfort any other white people in our discomfort right now. I hear you. You’ve carried much more. You’ve carried much worse. I’m going to do better. I’m going to be better. I’m listening. I’m paying attention. And I am here for you. - @j_illybean on Instagram

in other’s words. I went out to protest back in early June and I felt in my core I needed to do something, I needed to contribute something other than well wishes and words. this piece “in other’s words.” along with “the tide’s turning.” are an attempt at just that. ~ the real war is in our minds, stop fighting us and yourself and be kind ~ Transformative justice starts with the individual putting in serious effort toward liberating themselves from this oppressive regime that we have been operating in since birth. We must break the chains within our minds so that we can have a clear vision of a future that is centered around love, compassion, empathy, and an equal give and take of resources borrowed from the earth. If we are serious about change we all need to take a honest look into the mirror and ask ourselves who am I beyond my career & my hobbies, who am I underneath my race? who am I at my core? Most of us have become detached from our spirit selves and ego has slipped into it’s place causing us to feel lost & confused engaging in an endless search outside of ourselves for answers ~ now we face the challenge of remembering.. remembering who we really are... infinite beings with no limit. The revolution will not be televised so I advise to go inward for all that u seek.. stop running and face yourself to find self. Liberation is a journey, one that I am still on! let’s all unlock our power so we can fuel this uprising as a collective!! #liberation #revolution #blacklivesmatter #spirituality #love #collective #space #uprising #sounds #transformation #transformativejustice - @creekbebe_ on Instagram

I’ve been looking for the right words to post... but I haven’t been able to find them. No amount of words will ever be able to describe how I feel about the horrible murders of so many innocent black people in this country. To be honest, I’m tired of listing all the names. So I won’t in hopes of a day where we no longer have to list any names. . . I sat on my couch Wednesday night thinking to myself, “What can I do?” I’m a chef, a mother, a nutritionist ... not an #activist! Welp, I guess I’m all 4 now. On Wednesday, June 3th I founded the @blackchefmovement . In early 2017 I launched Gyal Flex (we’ll talk about the name in a bit) with my friend Holiday. A monthly hip hop yoga and meditation session. From the very start of my yoga journey the stark lack of black people behind the face of Yoga was glaring, but I knew this already. Every wellness newsletter, magazine, big yoga/wellness influencer and you tube video I’d seen told me it was a white space, and I’d been othered enough in the classes I had attended. When I qualified to be a teacher, it was because I met a teacher that took his time with me, encouraged me, made me feel safe in an unknown space so I could be vulnerable and served up yoga in a language I understood. He saw a teacher in me before I did and he planted a seed. He was also mixed race, from Birmingham (where I was born), with a deep music background and career. He used all of these things in his teaching. I resonated with him. We connected! Gyal Flex was my attempt to create a yoga space that looked like the city I lived in, that said to people who’d, like me, had perhaps thought that yoga wasn’t for them, and it was absolutely built with my people, black people in mind. Gyal Flex as a name, represented many things. It was started by two women and the word gyal was a representation of that. It’s a word that black people are familiar with, and fills me with love and memories of the most important women in my life that helped raise me. I will forever be my nan’s “pickney gyal”. And it’s for this reason why I take offence when told that I should change the name so “everyone can pronounce and understand it”! Please note: I don’t care if you can’t pronounce or understand it, because the point is, those that will and do will know it’s for them from the very get go. We wanted to flex our bodies, minds and souls through yoga and meditation, and it was a celebration of our bodies and freedom with a predominantly hip hop and black music soundtrack. Why? Because it’s my music, it’s music that helps me feel. Allows me to get into my body and express myself. Helps me heal. It speaks to my heart. It’s what I was raised on. It’s voices that look like me. Today in Kenosha, Wisconsin, at a peaceful march for Jacob Blake, a black man who was shot in back seven times last week by a police officer, so many people talked to me about sons. “Why am I here?” said a grandmother, repeating my question back at me. “I’m here because I have black sons. Black grandsons.” “I have a black little brother,” said a young girl in her 20s. “Sometimes I wonder if it was even a good thing to do - to have a black son when he‘s brought into a place where this kind of stuff still happens,” said a young man. #kenosha #kenoshawisconsin #blacklivesmatter #blacklivesmatterkenosha #justiceforjacobblake #jacobblake - @storiesbystory on Instagram

We’re tired of the same wars being lost. We could tell you who murdered us if we could and we still don’t see accountability. We still don’t see justice. This isn’t how the world should look. Yet we still are fighting to be heard. We are still crying to be understood. So many have told me not to post anything, to take what’s on my story down all because they say “I care for you, you’re an athlete, you have a future.” They tell my mom “Take that down you have to think about your son.” And all I can think is... what was I before an football player? An African American. What will I be after football ends? Still African American. And then I think some more... What happens if someone sees the color of my skin and decides to do something because they don’t like that I have more melanin than them? Where’s my future then? Gone. All my life I had to worry when I got stop by a bad cop because of the color of my skin. Worry whenever I would simply walk around my neighborhood because of the color of my skin. Worry about my younger brothers because of the color of their skin. My mother has to worry about everything I just said because the color of her children’s skin. The institutionalized, systematic, and blatant racism needs to end. Throughout history we were never seen as equal, never treated as equal but without us America wouldn’t be America. What is happening now is more than what has happened in the past couple weeks. It is centuries of being looked down upon. Dehumanized. Murdered. Centuries of being silenced by the oppressor. It’s about the people in control of this country lying to us saying there will be change. But did the change come? No. It is 2020 and we still are still facing the same injustices that our ancestors faced. There will be change. I will be part of that change. We will be equal. #blacklivesmatter #showmeyoucare - @izaiah_henderson on Instagram

We stand in support of every group discriminated against in our society. We acknowledge that racism, hate and divisiveness thrive in this country and we condemn it. It is time for any of us who have been the beneficiary of white privilege, to listen to what we have not heard, to see what we have not seen and to take action on behalf of every marginalized group and individual to dismantle the white patriarchal power structure. It is time for systemic change and we are proud to stand with our community in the fight. #blacklivesmatter - @turinbicycles on Instagram

“She was hoping she wouldn’t have to stand here with her daughter, I was hoping I didn’t have to stand here with my daughter, and yet here we are, generation after generation after generation...” @maureenpowel 📸 - Why is ending racism a debate? It shouldn’t be a debate. It should be a given. The same with referring to anti-BLM protesters as ‘rival’ or ‘counter protesters’ - why don’t we just call them what they are, racists and white supremacists?! I’ve seen a lot of media referring to them as rival or counter protesters and this only serves to make them seem like they just have a different opinion, not that they are simply racist and don’t want their racist status quo to change. - Does talking about race and racism make you uncomfortable? If it does, this means we need to talk about it more. Reading about implicit bias has made me feel uncomfortable because it means that I have to unpack my own subconscious stereotypes. I have to admit to myself that I’ve been part of the problem, even if I never meant to be. “In a racist society, it is not enough to be non- racist, we must be anti-racist.” -Angela Y. Davis ✊🏾 - How can you work towards being anti-racist as a white person? Firstly, acknowledge your privilege. Realise how privileged you are simply based on your skin colour. This DOES NOT mean that bad things can’t or don’t happen to white people, it simply means that we receive privileges because of the colour of our skin. Once you acknowledge this, this is a step to becoming anti-racist. - Work to change your internalised racism. Implicit bias “refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner... These associations develop... beginning at a very early age through exposure to direct and indirect messages.” (Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity). - Read a lot. Educate yourself. Black people aren’t there to be your teacher on race and racism. Don’t expect them to be. It’s your responsibility to educate yourself and to put in the work, not to rely on others to teach you. - Continued in the comments with book recommendations! 🖤 - What are your thoughts? - #blacklivesmatter✊🏾 - @the_flyaway_girl on Instagram

🖤❤️ Black Lives Matter ❤️🖤 Thank you to the organisers at @blmldnmovement & @westand_uk for allowing us to have a space for our voices and our presence. We stand together and we won’t be silent and London showed it’s unity in the thousands. After the sheer pain of the previous week and the countless years black people have had to endure racism, murder & complete oppression in a system created against them, it was great to feel some solidarity. IMPORTANT NOTE: To white friends and allies, if you come to black lives matter protests please don’t provoke the police or start being violent. I witnessed a few white people hitting police riot vans and buses and shouting and laughing at police officers and that behaviour will only help the racist media outlets to reinforce the idea that black people = aggressive behaviour. The battle doesn’t end here, we must still use all of our resources to educate ourselves, educate others, donate, speak up & support! Because black lives do matter! #silenceisviolence #blacklivesmatterlondon #blacklivesmatter #justiceforbellymujinga #justiceforgeorgefloyd #justiceforahmaud #justiceforbreonnataylor #justiceforblacklives - @mistydee.g on Instagram

//// From Matt: My fellow @WebsterHall stagehands and I have put together a compilation of covers and originals to help raise awareness for the #BlackLivesMatter movement out today over at ➡️ IfYouMo.bandcamp.com ⬅️ I hope you enjoy @RareFutures take on Marvin Gaye’s beautiful song “What’s Going On” featuring @arispectator on Steely Dan guitar and our manager @themegager on background vox 💙 I could live in that groove forever. Thanks again to @kevinadye for helping push the mix and master over the finish line 💙💜❤️✊🏽 Mission Statement by @bodybagbobby : “Since its inception in 1886, Webster Hall has been a house of inclusion. A safe space for the oppressed. From the International Ladies Garment Workers that used Webster Hall as their strike headquarters in 1916, up to 2016, where LGBTQ+ functions were held regularly. In that spirit, we, the Stage Hands of Webster Hall, decided to compile these songs, covers and originals, in an effort to raise awareness for the Black Lives Matter movement of today, symbolically, making Webster Hall a rally point. All money raised will be donated to the NAACP, Justice for Elijah McClain, Justice for Breonna Taylor and Action Bail Fund NYC. We hope these songs will raise your spirits, and encourage you to give what you can, and to spread the message of BLM.” - @rarefutures on Instagram

Stand Up Fight Back! ••• Flyer & Caption Repost from @psldc [SATURDAY], WHITE HOUSE, 12PM NOON (**new time**): FIGHT BACK AGAINST POLITICAL REPRESSION * DROP THE CHARGES AGAINST ANTI-RACIST PROTESTERS IN DENVER * JUSTICE FOR ELIJAH MCCLAIN New evidence shows that military officials in DC tried to obtain heavy-duty heat ray weapons to disperse peaceful protesters on June 1 for Trumps photo opp in front of St. Johns church. These military weapons scald human skin by broadcasting microwave technology over large areas. The authorities think that their acts of repression will work--but in fact they only make the movement stronger. As protests continue across the country, and as millions of people mobilize, many for the first time, the movement is only getting stronger. That is why we are organizing [TODAY], SATURDAY 9/19 at 12 PM NOON to fight back against political repression. A rally will be taking place at the State Capitol in Colorado at noon. We stand in solidarity with Denver, and with all protesters facing political repression! I’ve been reading a book and sending my favourite quotes to friends, one that really stuck .... - “Why do we believe we can not achieve things that others can? Because of our Fear of being exposed as the work in progress we are” Hit home In so many ways in life but even more for right now. I’m a man of colour and I’m a ‘work in progress’ in knowledge of my culture. But Believe that I, and any other person reading this can continue to achieve a better understanding of race relations. - I support any ‘work of progress’ Tryna better themselves. - So I ask you please go on @theblackcurriculum and send the template letter to your local MP’s and @gavinwilliamson.mp the Secretary of State for education to push black history to be taught in schools nationwide. Let’s help the new generation be better equipped for these conversations !✌️❤️ BLM. - @shaybarclay95 on Instagram

If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.
