The effect of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) on kidney function stage in patients with aortic stenosis remains poorly understood. This study sought to assess change in chronic kidney disease stage following TAVR, identify variables associated with pre- and post-TAVR estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and assess association of post-TAVR eGFR with mortality. Have you ever felt like thinking too much has made you physically feel sick or uncomfortable? 😰 Kufungisisa, or thinking too much, is a mental disorder that has been found in the Shona people in Zimbabwe. It originates from these individuals feeling like they feel the physical symptoms of thinking too much like rapid heartbeat and others 💔. The symptoms of Kufungisia overlap with other common disorders such as anxiety and depression, so treatment can be given in the same manner. How I write my captions in LESS THAN 5 MINUTES 👇🤯 A huge misconception many people have is that they need to spend hours on perfecting their caption 😢 Guess what? You don’t. This is how I write my captions in less than 5 minutes 👇 ✍🏼 I choose the topic of the post - this is also going to be the topic of the caption. ✍🏼 I decide what type the caption is. ✍🏼 If I’m posting a carousel - I’m choosing 1 slide to elaborate on in the caption. ✍🏼 If I’m posting a single post - I’m adding more value in terms of education or personal. ✍🏼 If I’m posting a video - I’m not adding more in the caption. Most of the content is already in the video. ✍🏼 I have a template for all my captions. Usually - The template consists of a CTA and hashtags. ✍🏼 The GOLD TIP - I record myself speaking the caption (In Microsoft Word). This way, I get to copy and paste what I said into my caption, and it sounds like me. How do you write your captions? Let me know 👇 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗗𝗠 “𝗰𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻” 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 ✍🏼 𝗣𝗦. We overthink because we are desperate creatures hunting for answers. We like certainty and we like being in control. Don’t worry, its part of human survival tactic. When you silence yourself you prepare for the poison, you know its coming so you get ready. Read, watch tv, do chores, shower and cook. Anything will serve as a distraction when you are silent. Try to remind yourself that you are overthinking and that it will pass. Give yourself the affirmation that it is fear and stress attacking you and that you will defeat it. Be strong in your silence and be patient for the unsettledness to allay. #stopoverthinking #treatyourselfwithkindness #distractyourself #takecare #staysilent #bestrong💪 #makelove #bekindtooneanother @mentalhealthawareness.jpg @minding_my.mind @mentalhealthmates @mentalhealthwithmm @positive.spirits @mentalhealth_pg123 @mentalhealthsupport.__ @_mentalhealthdaily_ @mentalhealthtalksindia - @_mentalhaven on Instagram

This recent study also showed that Gpld1 increases in the blood circulation of mice following exercise and that Gpld1 levels were significantly associated with enhanced cognitive performance. ⠀ The research team also genetically engineered the overexpression of Gpld1 in mice. They found that increased production of Gpld1 was associated with increased cognitive performance as well as increased hippocampal neurogenesis. ⠀ Because it does not cross the blood-brain-barrier, Gpld1 appears to increase brain health indirectly. One suspected mechanism is through a reduction in peripheral inflammation and blood coagulation. Both are positively correlated with age-related cognitive decline. ⠀ Gpld1 holds the promise of serving as a therapeutic approach that can confer the benefits of exercise in aged populations or those unable to engage in physical activity. ⠀ 📚Reference: lana M. Horowitz et al. Blood factors transfer beneficial effects of exercise on neurogenesis and cognition to the aged brain. While you’re trying to figure out your baby, she’s busy trying to figure out you too. . A great example of just how quickly a newborn recognizes his parents, happens at the first well-baby visit. Almost without fail, when a newborn is undressed and weighed, he’ll start to cry. I’ll try and settle the little guy by talking, shushing, and cuddling him. But if that doesn’t work, I’ll wrap him in his blanket and pass him over to his mom. The instant he’s in his moms arms, he’ll stops crying. This means a 2 or 3 day-old already recognizes and trusts his mom. 𝙄𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙜? . I havent shared ECD tips in a while. But I figured now is an excellent time since many families are preparing for the upcoming school year. Honestly, there is a lot of stress and anxiety during the start of any school year but this year especially so as we try to figure out what teaching and learning will look like during our new normal. There are also growing concerns the amount of screen time young children are exposed to during this period of remote education. In light of these questions, here are some simple non-screen literacy activities that can be done at home with minimal resources. [𝗨𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗧] As educated STEM professionals, we are privileged. Regardless of the color of your skin, if you are educated you have privilege. Now that we agree on this: . 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧: If you’re a Non-Black/Indigenous STEM professional, you’re more privileged than a Black/Indigenous STEM professional. 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧: Racism in STEM is incredibly harmful. STEM careers are essential to the growth and development of the entire human race. . 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧: If you are a Non-Black/Indigenous STEM professional, and you do not acknowledge your privilege, you are continuing the deeply rooted racism in our STEM community. 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧: Racism has NO place in STEM, including internalized racism. Internalized racism is racism that one doesn’t even know they’ve internalized! It’s reflected in the way we act, we treat others, and especially how we respond to the #BlackLivesMatter movement. . If you have been “called out” during this time, there is a reason. Don’t justify your actions. Don’t send receipts of your support. Don’t steamroll someone for educating you, and don’t send your NonBlack/Indigenous friends after them either. Your behavior is just continuing on the hundreds of years of racism built into the development of the modern day. Stress and anxiety are on the rise (which is not surprising given the craziness were all going through at the moment!). Whether youre experiencing it, or family and/or friends are (1 in 4 of us will), everyone has been affected in some way. So, what’s that got to do with your gut we hear you say? Plenty actually – your gut and brain are closely connected. Stress and anxiety can negatively affect sleep, appetite, food choices, your gut microbes and how your gut physically works. We teamed up with @anxietyukofficial to explain how anxiety and the gut go hand in hand. Which side sounds more like you?! Have you written off certain foods or food groups forever?!🙃🙃 If you think you’ve healed your gut with little symptoms but are on a very limited diet, think again! A permanent elimination diet is NOT 🤚🏼the answer for gut healing...it actually makes matters worse! 🥴Restrictive diets do more damage long term - reducing diet diversity actually WEAKENS your gut and digestion by reducing your bacterial diversity. 😱 A temporary elimination diet is useful and can be key to gut healing, however I only recommend elimination diets for about 6 weeks before a structured and slow reintroduction. The gut is like a muscle and needs to be trained.💪🏽💪🏽 Your goal is to have a gut that can tolerate a wide variety and range of foods, not being severely limited and only eating the same few foods every day! I help clients like you who have struggled with their gut health address the root cause of their symptoms to ditch the bloat for good and finally feel their best to be able to reach their weight loss goals🎉 If you’re serious about taking control of your digestion and losing weight for good, click the link in my bio to apply for my Signature 3 month Program, The Gut Glow Reset! today, september 10, is suicide prevention day. as a survivor myself today is an important day, near & dear to my heart. hundreds of thousands of people die of suicide every year, yet it’s still so incredibly taboo and misunderstood. every forty seconds someone dies of suicide. let that sink in. please check in on your friends and family today. there is this really harmful misconception that it’s dangerous to talk about suicide with someone who is suicidal or depressed, because it might “give them ideas”. this is so false, it’s so important to talk about suicide. if someone tells you that they have suicidal thoughts, that is a mental health emergency and something that needs to be addressed. suicidal thoughts, behaviors and plans need to be taken seriously, and without the shame and stigma society has created. when i was seventeen and suicidal, i didn’t dare to breathe a word about it to anyone because it’s so stigmatized, and i was scared of what people would think of me. looking back i wish i would have said something before it all escalated. there are so many negative stereotypes associated with being suicidal, and it’s just awful. anyone could become suicidal, mental health can deteriorate quickly and it’s important to get help as soon as possible. i got help and today i’m happy to say i haven’t had suicidal ideation in years, even during the times my mental health has been really bad. i really believe that there is hope for anyone struggling with suicidal thoughts, and if any of you are thinking of suicide, i beg of you to reach out to someone. it doesn’t have to end like this, and it sure as hell doesn’t have to feel this way forever. i am so happy i am here today and it breaks my heart to think of all the people who didn’t get the second chance of life that i got. please take suicide seriously, please check in on your friends, check in with yourself, please look up the warning signs of suicide and get educated. it’s time to learn more and be vigilant. i hope you all are okay today 💓 #suicidepreventionday #mentalhealth - @crazyheadcomics on Instagram

A common stereotype of sexuality professionals is that they are “hypersexual and that their “obsession” with sex is what motivates them to enter the field. However, research tells us that this view is inaccurate. In a study published in the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy, hundreds of sex educators, researchers, and therapists were surveyed about their sex lives and their reasons for entering the field. The three most commonly cited reasons for becoming a sexuality professional were “the field is interesting” (94%), there is still “a lot left to learn about sexuality” (84%), and the desire to “improve sexual health” (79%). Overwhelmingly, people’s motivations for entering the field didnt have anything to do with their own sex lives. In terms of sexual behavior, while sexuality professionals reported more acceptance of sexual diversity, they were actually less likely to report having had casual sex in the past year compared to the national average; however, they did report much higher rates of condom usage. Certainly, there is individual variability—some folks have much higher levels of sexual behavior than others. However, the overall trend tells us that the stereotypes about sexuality professionals aren’t grounded in reality. To learn more about the science of sex, check out my Sex and Psychology blog (sexandpsychology.com) and my book #TellMeWhatYouWant. #sexed #sexeducation #sexeducator #sexeducatorlife #sexpositive #sexpositivity #sexandpsychology #letstalkaboutsex #sexmyths - @justinjlehmiller on Instagram
Your BBT is your cycle talking to you, are you listening?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Seriously though - it can tell you so much about your cycle health, its freaking crazy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here are some things your BBT can tell you about your cycle:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨ Consistently higher or lower than average temperatures can suggest your thyroid is require support. Work with a practitioner to address thyroid imbalances with lab testing! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨ Significant drops in temp in the post-ovulatory phase can be caused by elevated estrogen levels and may provide evidence of estrogen dominance⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨ Temps lower than 97.8 immediately after ovulation may suggest low progesterone production or elevated estrogens⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨ If there is no evidence of a temperature shift, this would suggest ovulation hasnt happened⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do any of these things resonate with your chart??⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ DM me to set up a fertility strategizing call so we can get a game plan in place to get your cycle back on track! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Please note these statements are used as educational material and are not intended as medical advice.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #menstrualcycle #cyclesyncing #balancehormones #ttc #ttcwarrior #ttcjourney #periodhealth #womenshormones #womenswellness #cyclesupport #ttcsupport #ovulationsupport #fertilitysupport #functionalnutrition #functionalmedicine #seedcycling #ttcnutrition #ttcnutritionist #womensnutrition #ttccommunity #fertilitynutrition #fertility #fertilitycharting #cyclecharting #tww #ovulation #progesterone #fertilitytracking #cycletracking #subfertility - @balancing.nutrition on Instagram

When you are triggered, what role do you take on? These are 3 roles that Karpman termed The Drama Triangle (interestingly based on mapping football plays!) These roles are ways that we attempt to get our needs for connection, intimacy, and safety met, and at the same time, may erode those very things over time. They reflect our relationship to power, which is impacted by our attachment and trauma history, as well as what we see modeled by our family and community. We may habitually move into the same role or we may shift among the three. 💛 In order to cultivate safety and trust in a relationship you and your partner/friend/whom ever both need to want to practice doing it differently. ✅ Stepping out of the drama*: 1. Notice when you are occupying a role 2. Take some time to use self-regulation or co-regulation skills (with someone you’re not currently in drama with) 3. Return to the conversation with vulnerability (this gives your partner the opportunity for more safety, and also is an opportunity to observe if they are willing or can also meet you outside of the role they were occupying) *This does not apply to relationships that included physical violence. 🙌🏽 Reminders: A Tending to Your Nervous System & Innerchild work course are coming soon — make sure you’re on my Course waitlist 💌 (link in bio) - @heydrjustine on Instagram

When it is unbalanced, the heart fire blazes upward without control (especially if there’s lack of Kidney 💦 water to extinguish the fire ) resulting in then hyperactive heart fire. 🔥 Acupuncture points such as Heart 8 and 9, Kidney 6 can help to cool the fire. Herbal formula such as Dao Chi San can be used after consulting a physician. - @kanpobliss on Instagram

I need therapy. Whether a person is living their best life and thriving or on the verge of homelessness, anyone who receives an HIV diagnosis deserves and needs immediate therapy. In a powerful piece, staff writer Juan Michael Porter II (@juanmichaelporterii) outlines the importance of mental health care for folks newly diagnosed with HIV. According to Nathaniel Currie, D.S.W., LCSW, a clinical social worker and therapist who specializes in treating trauma, therapy is as essential as lifesaving medication. “Even though it’s no longer a terminal illness, there are parts of you that die after finding out that you’re HIV positive.” He says that the prospect of dealing with a lifelong dependency on medication, fear of rejection, or feelings of personal failure can be emotionally debilitating, especially because there is so much stigma related to the virus. ✨ Here weve outlined the many reasons why #PLWHIV should have access to adequate mental health care, during the #COVID19 #pandemic and beyond. If youre on the fence about reaching out for help, whether youre newly diagnosed or a long-time survivor, know this: you deserve to live a stigma- and trauma-free life. And that starts by acknowledging that you might need help. #mentalhealth #trauma #therapy #hivpositive - @thebodydotcom on Instagram

please take five minutes today to read my highlight “helping SW’s” and fill in the scottish government’s consultation form to reject their plans to introduce the nordic model. *you do not have to be scottish to do this*. you guys are so so good for sharing my posts when it comes to sex work; this time i need your help with action. this move is an insidious policy which does not seek to help sex workers - it will drive the industry underground, decrease the ability to screen & implement safety measures, & endanger thousands. the stigma surrounding sex workers already is abysmal and this will make it worse. rather than focusing on reducing trafficking and providing genuine aid - such as housing, addiction support, mental health services & more readily available healthcare, they just want to “wipe out” sex work entirely. this however, will never happen - and so what is already a precarious industry with the most basic safety nets will vanish and become a very scary thing. sex workers deserve our respect. sex work is work ♥️ - @kardatoons on Instagram

Your Three Brains🧠 🧠 🧠 - How Your Head, Heart, and Gut Work Together For A Better You. Do you follow your heart? Do you listen to your gut? . Research published in Sage Journals shows that the gut, heart, and head all have complex networks and are functioning brains in their own right. Each different brain is a sophisticated system complete with billions of neurons that has the ability to grow, flex, and react. They are able to receive and process information, store it, and access it again when needed. They can: sense, learn, remember, communicate, and change! That’s pretty powerful stuff. To understand how the three brains work together, let’s break down each individual brain and how they work on a singular level. . How do they work together to help you make better decisions and a better you? PCOS is often passed down through families. So we know it has a genetic connection🧬 as well as other contributing factors that lead to it. It is important to know that weight gain does NOT cause PCOS, rather PCOS causes weight gain. There are slim females that also have PCOS due to either genetics or environmental factors, etc. . There are different types of PCOS and based on the patients symptoms, each patient should have an individualized treatment👩🏻⚕️ ——————————— Insulin resistance is what drives cravings because as explained above, insulin resistant means your cells aren’t getting the energy they need - so you are low on energy, you crave carbohydrates, and you gain weight more easily⬆️ . It is important to make sure you’re eating enough and eating regularly. This is because when we let ourselves get too hungry, our blood sugars drop and we see massive spikes when we do finally eat. Restricting also sends us into that binge restricting cycle which ultimately can perpetuate metabolic dysfunction. According to a study, low carb diets in the treatment of PCOS is associated with a greater reduction in insulin resistance compared to a conventional diet. . Intermittent fasting is recommended - not just what you eat but how you eat! Ultimately how you eat is going to have a bigger impact on your insulin🍬⏰ . Often times people think giving up gluten will help manage PCOS symptoms. This is inaccurate since gluten is actually a protein found in grains, therefore unless you have gluten insensitivity.. then it is not required to cut off gluten from your diet🍞 . Patients with PCOS benefitted from eliminating dairy from their diet and found using alternative milks such as nut milks (almond, cashew, etc), coconut milk and flaxseed milk to be helpful in terms of avoiding excess hormones from animals (since they already have enough hormones in their body). This varies with each person since not all patients react badly to dairy🧀🥛 . A majority of women with PCOS have insulin resistance (fasting blood sugars and insulin levels are too high) - this puts them at a higher risk for developing type 2 diabetes, infertility, and other complications. . . 95 percent of my struggle in parenting has been learning how to regulate my dang self. No one tells you about that part. No one warns you that motherhood has a way of bringing up the past. It is HARD. But you know what? Im incredibly grateful. This motherhood gig has been stretching, and working through my stuff is exhausting, but it is also incredibly rewarding. This one is for all of the parents out there breaking cycles and working hard to consciously parent from a place of healing. The journey isnt about perfection, its an ongoing commitment to put forth the effort. But is it is rewarding ❤️🙏 This week I am doing a special invisible load series, make sure to turn the notifications on for my posts so you dont miss out ❤️ - @_happyasamother on Instagram

#Repost @tinytouchjc @download.ins --- I am often asked questions about how massage would benefit an infant and my reply is - well, there are multiple benefits and they dont stop once you stop massaging a baby! Baby massage is an ancient art and science of communicating with your baby, an art that provides lifelong benefits for the baby. For caregivers, new parents and everyone who would want to know more, here goes the long list of benefits - 1) Massaging your baby helps to stimulate all vital systems - immune, digestive, circulatory, respiratory and hormonal systems 2) Massaging your baby for just one month increases the number of white blood cells and killer cells, thus increasing the babys ability to fight infectious diseases 3) Release muscle stress and promotes muscle-tone development 4) Stimulates the vestibular system and promotes coordination and balance 5) Relieves the baby from gas, constipation, gastrointestinal cramps, teething and mucus discomfort 6) Helps babies sleep longer 7) Reduced physical and physiological tension 8) Increases babys environmental coping mechanisms 9) Regulates stress hormones, releases anti stress hormones and helps babies be calmer, reducing hyperactivity and hypersensitivity, this helping them enjoy a positive time-out 10) Stimulates mind/body awareness and sensory integration, helping the baby understand more about its own body and features 11) Most importantly it promotes secure attachment with parents, provides one on one communication and quality time and fosters parent child bonding The list is still longer and I promise to continue sharing them on my feed 💙 . Stay tuned and reach out if you want to learn how to massage your baby and adapt this into a fun 15 min daily routine activity 💙💙💙 - @tinytouchjc on Instagram
