We asked Baba for his grocery wishlist and purchased every item he asked for. The items included: 50kgs of flour for making flatbreads, 1 large tin of mustard oil, 30kgs of moong dal (mung beans), 1kg of turmeric powder (haldi), 5kgs of sugar, 1kg of tea, 50kgs of potatoes, 2kgs of fresh cilantro (coriander)... 2kgs of green chillies, 25kgs of tomatoes, and 5kgs of bottle gourd (ghiya/lauki). We also noticed Baba was almost out of firewood, which he uses for cooking the meals on an open-air clay stove. We then brought 100kgs of firewood for him as well. LInde navait pas connu un cyclone de cette force depuis plusieurs décennies. Les dégâts à Kolkata et en zone rurale sont sans précédent. Des milliers de familles se retrouvent sans maison, sans toit, sans travail, sans revenu, sans nourriture. Donají Mendoza is a muxe originally from Tehuantepec, Oaxaca. She made the green dress she is wearing as she holds the photo of her beloved grandmother. When little at a local festival, together with her grandmother they saw a muxe who was beautiful and well dress. Hassan Jangju, meaning Hassan the Warrior in Persian language, was an Iranian member of Basij, a volunteer paramilitary organization during the Iran–Iraq War, who became subject to an iconic photograph taken by Alfred Yaghobzadeh in 1981. The photo of Hassan Jangju childish face has been a symbol on the back cover of school books and his paintings on school walls for years. The same photo was used as propaganda for recruiting volunteers by the Iranian authorities during the Iran–Iraq war and afterwards. He was missed in action and his body was returned to Iran in 2017. the coffin of Hassan Jangju, which was draped in the Iranian flag, was borne through the streets by a huge crowd and laid to rest with full military honours. हाथरस मामले पर बहुतों ने लिख दिया है या कुछ लिखने वाले होंगे । सोशल मीडिया भी कितना सीधा और सच्चा हैं न । यहां जितने भी लोग हैं सब के सब दूध के धुले हैं । आप असल जिंदगी में चाहे कितने ही बदतमीज हो, लड़कियों पर कमेंट पास करते हों, सुबह से शाम तक गाली बकतें हो लेकिन यहां आकर सब माफ हो जाता हैं । यहाँ आप सुद्ध ब्रह्मचारी और नैतिकता के परिपूर्ण इंसान बन जाते हैं । आजकल सभी के पास एक से अधिक चेहरे हैं । जिन लोगों को लड़की के कपड़े देखकर वासना जगृत हो जाती हैं वो भी रेप के खिलाफ लिखेंगे । आज हर इंसान जो सोशल मीडिया चला रहा हैं वो कहीं ना कहीं मानसिक रोगी है । रेप करने वाला कहीं बाहर से नही आता है वो हम और आपमे में ही से होता है । उसको बढ़ावा भी हमहिं देते हैं। उसे तभी रोक देना चाहिए जब उसने पहली बार किसी लड़की पर गंदी कमेंट पास किया था । उसकी जुबान तभी खींच देना चाहिए जब उसने किसी लड़की को माल कहा था । इसमें कहीं न कहीं हम सब जिम्मेदार हैं । जैसे कैंसर को पहले स्टेज पर रोक देने से बीमारी नही फैलती हैं वैसे ही इन लोगों को पहले ही रोक देना चाहिए ताकि इन्हें आगे कुछ करने की हिम्मत न हो । और हाँ खबर मीडिया में आ गयी तो सबकी पता चल गया । रोज ऐसे ही कितने रेप होते हैं जो खबर में तो क्या उसकी बात घर से बाहर तक नही जाती है । एजेंडा बनाने वाले इसमे भी धर्म, जाति और पार्टी ढूंढ ही लेंगे । बाकी कुछ गलत लिखा हो या मेरी किसी बात से किसी को ठेस पहुंची हो तो .. .. मैं क्या करूं, आपकी मानसिकता वैसी होगी कि आपको ठेस पहुंचेगी । #कुलबुलाहट 🙏 #youthagainstrape #stoprape #nomorerapes #hathrasgangrape #Shameonus #Justiceformanisha - @himanshu_shekhar_tiwari on Instagram

Yadi offers us water after our motorcycle broke down in the Sierra Maestras- a very normalized meeting that often gets lost in propserous countries. No hesitation, no feeling of being scared of two complete strangers (strangers who obviously werent Orientales). Yoel starts talking to her about her life and she tells us she moved here after being in very remote town in the mountain range of the Sierras. There, she told us, there is nothing. No electricity, no plumbing, no rations, nothing. The only thing there is the sporadic government officials (CDR) to make sure people are still OK. When her husband found a job near the city (about an hour down the mountain) she was so relieved. It means that maybe one day they can save enough money to buy a mattress now. Shes never slept on mattress. Shes 26. Can you imagine? These are the stories that are not glamorized. These are the stories that cant be told. These are the cubans who cant get recargas. In the first two weeks of the lockdown, I almost died of anxiety because I am not used to restrictions. I was collecting images of issues related to the Pandemic but didnt know what I was going to do with it. Suddenly a new burst of energy occurred when I spoke to Chief Emeka Udemba. @emekaudemba our conversation lasted for a few minutes, but those few minutes were the few minutes I needed to change my fortune. I decided I was going to try and do something different this time around, i was going to play this time around and not work. I was going to examine peoples state of mind since the outbreak of this Pandemic. Guess what? I achieved that in my latest offering about the pandemic. I just played with myself and enjoyed the process of making this work. There was no pressure, but there were few challenges in the beginning. While I was on this, Friederike Moeschel @fmoeschel invited me to participate in a project by the Goethe institut Lagos @gi_Nigeria titled corona chronicles of Nigeria the project reassured me of the potential of my new work. We are leaving in a time where the world is on stand still since the events of the second world war. There is need for me as a story teller to capture this time for the future, to educate people who may never see this time or witness this event. As much as I am interested in history, the future is important to me as well. As you anticipate this new offering, here are some of the images i have not had time to share with you. Surfers can be pretty disconnected from the history of the places we recreate. We often think of the “locals” as the rich white dudes born into families that own coastal property and have easy access to a particular surf spot. But the real locals, the original locals, are of course the indigenous people who recreated along those same coasts for thousands of years before white colonizers showed up, stole their land and pushed their communities inland. To shed some light on the indigenous history of iconic surf zones, we’re launching a column called “Whose Coast Are You Surfing?” on Surfer.com, starting with the Kumeyaay Nation’s deep San Diego roots. Following photos: Oundoum Cynthia, 19. “I am a 2nd year Communication student at the Faculty of Social Sciences. After college I want to specialize in communication and sustainable development because our country needs to be developed. Today I am taking pictures of this school because there are problems here: there are no classrooms, no toilets, no accessories like tables, benches ... photos that serve as proof of the problems, and then I go to share them on the internet. We also put on radio shows to talk about it. I do this because I want to be one of those who are making a difference in the country. School is very important. The socio-cultural and traditional weight is a barrier to access to school. Parents in the villages think that school destroys the girls, and that if the girls are educated they will violate the traditions… But my parents, luckily they encourage me! Over the last four years I have been working on an ongoing project about Youth in West Africa. I traveled across all countries in the region to meet with teenagers and young adults, and portray life stories that carry us in their daily lives. Their wounds, their vulnerabilities, but also their dreams, their hopes and their immense talents are a great lesson and a source of motivation. De la serie “Guerra”: A 50 kilómetros del municipio y solo por caminos de terracería, se encuentra la comunidad de Villa de Cárdenas, pueblo con aproximadamente 300 habitantes y dedicados a la agricultura de temporal, cultivando maíz y frijol. Las calles lucen vacías y son pocos habitantes que se pueden observar después la violencia. Diez días antes, este pueblo había sido amenazado por miembros del crimen organizado para entregar las armas que los habitantes pudieran tener en su próxima visita. Al mediodía del domingo 27 de febrero regresó el presunto grupo, privaron de la libertad al delegado municipal, después, el comando se trasladó a la casa de la familia Ríos Soriano, ubicada en la calle Niño Artillero No. 3, donde fueron recibidos a balazos por un poblador que decidió utilizar su arma (rifle calibre 22) en defensa propia, se desató el enfrentamiento que duró más de 5 horas y en el cual fueron abatidos tres presuntos atacantes que no superaban los 20 años de edad, el joven que los enfrentó pudo escapar de la comunidad.
