One month! One month from today, on October 10th, let’s run or walk (or hike or swim or bike) in solidarity and support of birth justice. Join the team and you’ll gain access to our Slack channel for training updates and encouragement from teammates. We haven’t been able to run together as a team this year, but we still have the ability to use our collective bodies to make an impact. Thanks to @firstresponsepregnancy for their support and sponsorship. The first 100 runners to raise $500 for their race will have their donation matched by First Response. Leave any questions below or DM us. Link in bio to sign up. We can’t wait to run with you on October 10th ! #race4birthjustice #everymileeverymother #runteamemc - @runteamemc on Instagram

#inclusion #discapacidad #ciclismo #silladeruedas #solidaridad #mocoreta - @portal_traccion on Instagram

On September 27, 1804, Anna McNeill Whistler was born in Wilmington. McNeill was made famous in the renowned painting, “Arrangement in Grey and Black: The Artist’s Mother,” commonly known as “Whistler’s Mother.” Shortly after her birth, Anna McNeill moved with her family to New York. In 1831, she married George Washington Whistler, a close friend of her brother. After growing up in the U.S. and Russia, attending West Point for a brief time and then moving to Paris to study art, the Whistlers’ son James began to split his time between Paris and London. He continued to develop his craft, becoming an important figure in contemporary art circles and generating controversy for his greater focus on color and arrangement than on realism. Anna Whistler moved to London in 1863 to live with her son, and, in 1871, he painted her as the figure in “Whistler’s Mother.” The painting was first shown in 1872, extending Whistler’s reputation, but it has received mixed reviews throughout much of its history. “Whistler’s Mother” now hangs in the Musee D’Orsay in Paris and has been rarely exhibited in the United States. 8.4.91 The gift of Olivia Buchanan. I will always mark the years and have profound gratitude that Olivia Grace Buchanan was born. Ive been reflecting today on the qualities I loved about her. The way she adored her family and friends, her hearty laugh, the way she showed her love through physical affection (wanted and unwanted), her intelligence, and her physical prowess. The attribute that strikes my heart deeply was her ability to apologize - really, truly, apologize. Not many people are able to recognize that theyve hurt another, intentionally or not, and make a sincere effort to make an amend to that person. Its a brave and vulnerable thing to do; to let the armor down and try to make it right. In honor of her spirit, I hope we can all be a little more vulnerable. Have grace, understanding and compassion for others. Love wildly, passionately, deeply and tell the people in your life that you love them. If you do, you will not have regret. At the tender age of 23 Olivia did just that and Im forever grateful. -Mom • REPOST -@abuchanan1013 • #LiveLikeLivia #love #sparkplugoflife #inremembrance #happybirthday #celebratelife - @livelikelivia15 on Instagram
