Iniciando com a nossa querida locomotiva 353, uma locomotiva à vapor, também conhecida com o apelido carinhoso de Velha Senhora, iniciou a operação no Trem de Guararema no ano de 2015 e após anos de operação no trajeto, hoje se encontra em manutenção para um retorno futuro. . Nossa locomotiva 7202, uma locomotiva diesel, a única locomotiva sobrevivente das máquinas da família Quintella que com uma parceria com a empresa ferroviária Rumo, teve seu restauro e participou do primeiro Trem de Natal, realizado no ano de 2018, todo iluminado que teve passagens em várias cidades do interior paulista, hoje se encontra operando viagens no trajeto do Trem de Guararema, além de participações em eventos diversos. . Finalizando com a nossa locomotiva 9380, a mais nova integrante da equipe, foi resgatada através de um leilão e também foi restaurada com a parceria da empresa ferroviária Rumo, participando em conjunto com a locomotiva 7202 no Trem de Natal do ano de 2019. Hoje também se encontra operando os passeios no trajeto do Trem de Guararema. . Cada material ferroviário possui seu marco e carrega consigo sua história e valorização no passar do tempo. A ABPF é uma instituição de caráter cultural, sem fins lucrativos, que tem como objetivo básico promover a preservação do patrimônio histórico das ferrovias brasileiras. . . In June of 1993, R-110B subway cars entered service on the A line. Ordered from @BombardierRail in 1989, the prototype cars were manufactured to test new technology that would be integrated into future fleets such as the R-143 subway cars. Consisting of nine prototype cars, they were numbered 3001 – 3009, coupled in three-car sets, and featured a middle cab-less unpowered trailer car. R-110Bs have a similar design to R-68 cars currently in service, but the ends of the cars are noticeably more square and the windows are made from a different type of glass. The cars featured matte plastic seats with a reduced bucket, linoleum flooring, LCD destination signage, and a passenger intercom for emergencies. This #NYTMCollection photograph shows R-110B cars in the 1990s. Intended for short-term use, the cars were only in service from 1993 to 2000. Do kopce Velkou výhodou malých železnic je jejich umístění v krajině. Stavěly se totiž tam, kde by se normální rozchod nevešel, kde by nezvládl oblouky v terénu a kde by nezvládl častá a někdy i prudká stoupání. Možná proto jsou úzkokolejky tak romantické. Připomínají spíše přerostlé hračky, než opravdové stroje. Ale pozor! Jsou to stále parní stroje plné energie a s hračkami nemají nic společného. Supí si údolím těsně nad potokem, potom zase kousek lesem, hned z kopce a hned do kopce. Stejně jako my. Tedy my někteří. Jsou tací, kteří jdou zásadně jenom do kopce. Ona ale platí stará pravda, že čím výše vylezete, tím níže musíte sestoupit. A kdo si myslí, že jeho se to netýká, je na velkém omylu. Ale dá se sestupovat i se ctí. Třeba jako tahle mašinka, až pojede zpátky do depa. Tam se o ni postarají, aby zítra mohla zase stoupat vzhůru do lesů. A pair of Santa Fe Railway’s finest, a bit battered and bruised after repeatedly operating for thousands of miles at a time, poke their noses out of the shops in San Bernardino. Built in June 1973, ATSF SD45-2 5704 was the last unit of the second, and largest, order of SD45-2s. It was also the fifth of the railway’s five Bicentennial locomotives, and the colorful paint is looking a bit haggard in the 1978 view. It’s stablemate, over on track 7, is FP45 5942. This locomotive was constructed in December 1967 as ATSF 102, one of nine FP45s intended to supplement the railway’s aging fleet of passenger F-units, and allowed the last of the PA-1s and PB-1s to be retired. After the Santa Fe handed over passenger operations to Amtrak in May 1971, their FP45s were repainted from the red and silver Warbonnet scheme into freight colors and moved to the freight pool in 1973, following the arrival of Amtrak’s new SDP40Fs. ATSF 5942 was just over ten years old in this photo. Santa Fe first constructed their locomotive shop in San Bernardino in 1886, and the complex underwent a number of changes throughout the years as railroad technology changed, and this shop was able to perform remanufacturing and heavy repairs for much of the railway, from New Mexico to San Diego and the Bay Area. Eventually, this work was transferred to shops further east, primarily in Kansas, and this impressive complex was razed in 1996. (San Bernardino, California – May 1978). It’s Throwback Thursday! In 1912, the Richmond Locomotive Works built the first group of Z1 engines. Once delivered to the Norfolk & Western, the 427,000-pound engines worked on the Pocahontas, Radford, and Norfolk divisions. The 2-6-6-2 mallet locomotive was compact and powerful, ideally suited to hauling heavy tonnage trains. Efficient and economical, these engines became the standard for heavy freight power, adding efficiency and economy to the railway’s operations. Today’s image was captured by a railroad photographer in 1917. He took several photographs of Engine 1302 and included an unidentified man in this shot—peeking around the engine—for scale. Then and now, #innovation is an important part of the Norfolk Southern story. Railroads and railroaders deliver the goods and work hard every day to keep the steel wheels rolling. Brussels to Barcelona in eight hours: Proposal to relaunch Trans-Europe Express. German federal transport minister Andreas Scheuer has proposed at a European transport council meeting in Brussels to relaunch the Trans-Europe Express (TEE) 2.0 network of high-speed and night trains between major western European cities. If the plan to reinstate the rail link, andoned in 1987, is agreed by his European counterparts, Brussels, Liège and Antwerp stations could be connected to Barcelona in around eight hours. The minister is keen to cut travel time and make journeys more appealing between several European cities by reviving the TEE trains – a luxury service from the glory days of European rail travel from the late 1950s to the 1970s, when overnight rail travel was common. His project would start by using existing train lines to link Brussels to Berlin in around six hours and Berlin to Barcelona in 13 hours. There would also be connections between Amsterdam and Rome or Paris and Warsaw. After infrastructure work in a second phase of the plan, Brussels train travellers could reach Stockholm in less than 13 hours, he said. These routes should be possible as soon as major infrastructure projects, such as Stuttgart 21, the Fehmarnbelt crossing between Germany and Denmark or the Brenner Base Tunnel are completed, Scheuer says. However, train lovers eager to reinstate old travel routes will have to wait until at least 2028 for the possible TEE relaunch, when Brenner tunnel is completed. Moreover, the technical challenges to overcome if TEE 2.0 goes ahead are enormous. There are a huge number of power and train protection systems. In addition, there is a dizzying array of national railway companies’ sales and tariff structures to contend with. The jury is out on night trains too. Austrian Federal Railroad has expanded its night train service, but Deutsche Bahn has restricted its offer, saying there is not enough demand.
