@dianezizka Whenever I work on glutes, legs, abs or stretch 90% of the time I use 5 lbs. ankle weights. @nordiclifting weights are by far my favorite. Here are some of my favorite frontal plain hip abduction exercises 𝟏. 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬 (𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝟏) 𝟐. 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐢𝐩 𝐀𝐛𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝟐) 𝟑. 𝐂𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐩 𝐀𝐛𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟒. 𝐒𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐋𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐠 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞 (𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝟑) 𝟓. 𝗪𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐋𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐠 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞 Typically over the course of my weekly training program, I aim to include 2 movements using the transverse plain (see my previous post) and 2 movements of the frontal plain. Programming this way is more likely to target all muscles of the glutes, not just one area. I.e. upper and lower glute maximus and the upper glute medius. Further, not everyone feels every single exercise the same way, so trying a variety of movements will help you to find exercises that effectively isolate your glutes. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐝𝐨? The number of sets you should complete per week is largely determined by your training experience and glute strength. If you are brand new to training, you may need to start with only 2 sets of each exercise using the lightest resistance band. As you become more experienced, your technique will improve & so will your strength. At this point you may like to increase to 3-4 working sets & use a stronger resistance. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐝𝐨? These exercises are very isolated, so from a programming perspective trying to target low reps & heavy resistances isn’t advisable. Instead target a higher rep range of 15 + per set. Working in this range is considered the hypertrophy rep range. If you find you have to do 30 + reps to achieve your desired workout intensity, you may need to consider increasing the bands resistance. Solid Glute/ Shoulders and Mobility/ Push workout by the water. This mornings workout started with an amazing run then I jumped right into strengthening my glutes. Followed by some hip and shoulder mobility and finished with push work that included dips, Stalder press and handstand push ups. Definitely made the best of the location, which I think is a skill in itself... 156lbs to 149lbs from May to June. This quarantine has allowed me to focus and rekindle an old friendship with fitness. I lift heavy with @coached.by.amita’s amazing and fun programs and try running/biking on my off days. Eating / portion control has been the toughest challenge since I love eating everything I cook, but I’ve made huge strides in getting a better grasp that. Seeing these before and after photos earlier this week gave me a feeling of accomplishment and encouragement that hard work and dedication can pay off. Im looking forward to seeing more changes in the upcoming month but for now I’m living in the moment, enjoying living my best life right now with my newfound stamina, strength and motivation.
