@li_cree brings us to the present with her last installment of #UnbeatenPath . Continuing from last weeks comic, there was a day I clearly remember during my slump. It was a mild October day and my older sister and I were talking about life and our future aspirations. She asked me what was my dream and I remember freezing up so quickly. I could feel my head fill with all the intrusive, negative thoughts that had been plaguing me since I graduation. But even then, I answered honestly how I want to work in animation and share my stories with others. After years of encountering discouragement and uncertainty, I expected the same negative response I would hear from not only from others but from myself. However, my sister did the exact opposite. She happily expressed how it was exciting to hear I was pursuing something I loved since childhood and encouraged me to keep creating stories. In that moment, all of the intrusive thoughts, doubts, and worries that was sitting with me for months immediately disappeared and I couldnt help but cry. After that day, both my younger and older sister became my greatest support group and I had the strength to keep striving for my dream. In the next year, I did a bunch of odd freelance jobs and received plenty of rejection emails from job applications. But instead of feeling doubtful about it, I viewed it as conquering the next step to get to my goal. Now, I feel content about the path I took to get to where I am today and Im excited to see where itll take me next.
