There’s a reason open concept is so popular 😎 The kitchen was so tiny before at #industrialfarmhouse🏠 and this really made a huge difference in the property. Way more seating, cabinet space and counter space! I get asked a lot about load-bearing walls, if you swipe over I find this image helpful to explain. The top drawing is the same layout as this property with the load-bearing right down the centre, so the wall from dining to kitchen was only an interior separation wall! Hopefully that helps but it’s so important to be 100% sure before you start ripping down walls! If you don’t have experience it may be your best bet to hire a pro before you start! . 雨 中学校から高校生になる前の春休みに地元に出来たばかりの超大型スーパーでアルバイトをした。 中学生は雇ってくれないので高校生と嘘を言って働かせて貰った。 配属されたのはサービスカウンタと隣接した銘菓を取り扱う売り場。 菓子折りの包装とのし紙を巻く事をひたすらするのが私の仕事だった。 この売り場はサービスカウンターと隣接している事もありマナーや規範が重んじられる。 「トイレ行ってきゃース」とでも言ったら殺される勢いで「２番行って来ますですよ」って怒られる。 ここではいくつかの言葉は数字で表現するように決められている。 トイレは２番で雨は４番だった気がする。 他にもいくつか番号があったが３０数年も前の事なので他は忘れた。 ２番は厳格だったが４番の使い方はやや乱れていた。 売り場から外の状況がわからず、ある決まった音楽が流れると雨だと分かるようになっていて我々に求められる事は紙袋の上からビニール袋を被せる事。 毎回、雨の音楽が流れると売り場のおば様達は「４番が降って来た」って言う。 遅番の人が売り場に来るなり「今日は凄いよー、横なぐりの４番。」 もう普通に雨で良いじゃん。って思ってた。 最近になってこの時の隠語を思い出した。 そしたら、ちょうど社内で重たいデータを海外の取引先にどのように渡すか？ が会議されていて皆ダウンロードを連呼していた。 だから「ダウンロードしてきます」と言ってトイレに向かった。 その後も何回も使っているが全く流行らないし、すべっている感じも出てきた。 もう少し頑張ってみるつもりだ。 #puebco - @puebco_japan on Instagram

If you can believe it....it’s time. . Our amazing builder Kurt Reynolds (Nordic Construction 🙌) who first build our house in 2003, is almost done with our new home. We are so blessed for so many reasons. By far and away the biggest gift has been the love and kindness of our community of friends. Second has been Kurt and his son Dylan, who saw this project thru with an amazing team of sub-contractors. Third, and it’s kind of funny (kinda), was a mild winter that was conducive to building. And @usaa was an amazing insurance company we can’t recommend enough. . OK, I lied. The biggest gift has been my wife, Anouk. Strength, vision, balance, fortitude...she has attacked the challenge of rebuilding our home, day in and day out over the past year, with grace, humor, unflagging focus and exceptional taste. We simply would not be be this far along without her. Blessed is an understatement. . And here’s the kicker. Last year we learned of the fire the day we pulled off of the Salmon River after a 7 day float. And this Tuesday, we return to the Salmon for another float. (hey, when you get a permit...). L’antico orto di Palazzo Pretorio rivive oggi come giardino giapponese, un’opera di arte ambientale realizzata dall’artista Hidetoshi Nagasawa nel 2000. Nel giardino era presente dal 1993 una casa da tè, dono della città di Kanramachi (città giapponese gemellata con Certaldo dal 1983). Nel 2000, nell’ambito del progetto “Dopopaesaggio”, Nagasawa fu incaricato di ridisegnare tutto lo spazio che circondava la Casa da tè, al fine di contestualizzare la presenza di questo manufatto tradizionale giapponese all’interno di un palazzo medievale toscano. In quest’opera, stilemi giapponesi si incrociano con materiali tipicamente toscani e, pur nella sua essenzialità, c’è un continuo rimando dall’una all’altra civiltà. 27-6-20 Den Burg,Texel(Nederland) Na een minuut stilte genomen te hebben bij de Algemene begraafplaats zijn wij ons pad gaan vervolgen binnen Den Burg, op nog geen steenworp afstand staat hier een voor mij toch wel indrukwekkende bunker met de naam Texla-bunker, vernoemd na het gelijknamige huis vlak ernaast. Het is een communicatiebunker van het type R617, gebouwd in 1943. Hier werden verbindingen gelegd tussen het vasteland en de batterijen op het eiland. Russen op Texel? Ja dat klopt! De Texla bunker speelde een belangrijke rol tijdens de Georgische Opstand. Op 6 april 1945 werd de bunker het hoofdkwartier voor de Georgische soldaten, die een opstand tegen de Duitsers begonnen. Texelse mannen werden opgeroepen zich aan te sluiten bij de opstandelingen voor een gewapende strijd en moesten zich melden bij de Texla. Hier wilden de Georgiërs voorkomen dat de Duitse bezetter om versterking zouden vragen. Door beschietingen van Duitse soldaten zijn hier de eerste burgerslachtoffers gevallen. Sporen van de strijd zijn nog altijd zichtbaar. In 2017 is de bunker in particulier bezit gekomen. Tijdens Bunker dag kun je er normaal gesproken een kijkje nemen alleen zitten ze nu midden in een verbouwing. Wanneer de bunker weer open gaat voor bezoek meldt ik dat op mijn pagina. In goed overleg hebben wij afgesproken dat ik en mijn vader het terrein mochten betreden met alleen toestemming om de bunkers van buitenaf te fotograferen. Zo gezegd, zo gedaan en naar mijn mening zijn de foto’s zeer geslaagd. Hou mijn pagina want deze week plaats ik een nieuw ww2 oorlogsweetje met als thema Texel (hoe toepasselijk). I sewed this banner in 2013 at the @tidesinstitute (image 1: Forward out of darkness, leave behind the night, forward out of error, forward into light // NVM the dark=bad, light=good overtones), inspired by Suffragette banners from the early 1900s (image 2). Women have been fighting for our rights for over 100 years. (Image 3: The Silent Sentinels were a suffragist group that were the first people ever to picket at the White House in 1917.) Lets continue this fight, standing on the shoulders of a true giant, RGB, and wade into partisanship not because we want to, but because we have to (image 4). Lets become the ones we are waiting for, as @AOC nailed it in a recent post (images 5-6: Because no one politician is the answer. YOU are the answer. Mass movements are the answer). .. Everyday theres more reasons for grief, disillusionment, despair, outrage, anger, numbness and pain. But we cant be hopeless and helpless. They wont make space for our bodies and voices, much less for our joy, culture, and expression—we have to make those spaces. I began processing some hides that have been hiding deep in our freezer for years, I experimented with some new-to-me food preservation, and I made this little quilted pillow case (that I’m very proud of!). I got this idea from @diydalia_ I spray painted the trinket boxes from dollar tree (I have not finished the blue one just yet) And then used contact paper and a hair dryer to cover the lids. I need to go back and get a few of the creases and trim some excess from the finished product, but it was so cute I wanted to share it now. The house is coming along, step by step, bit by bit. EarlIer this year, we had the bathroom renovated. For years we’d dealt with a mysterious leak that caused the garage ceiling below to leak and collapse TWICE. I finally made the decision to gut the bathroom to finally find the origin of the leak, and then update it. The bathroom we had was original to the house, which was built in 1955. Over the summer, we decided to paint the exterior and make the back porch into a three-season room. The paint was peeling, the storm door was falling off the hinges, and the back porch screens tore every winter. The boys get to take part in every decision made, so we all love our home. The house is now Benjamin Moore Kensington Blue, the foundation is Benjamin Moore Winter Solstice, and the trim and shutters are Benjamin Moore White Diamond. And the door color, which we were up in the air about forever and even asked our IG fam for their opinions is Benjamin Moore Poppy! The door frame had to be rebuilt and the back still needs to have the shingles added and then get painted, but we did it.
