Los sobrevivientes del #homeschooling primer día ✔️ Arrancamos las clases online, con una dosis potente de aceites esenciales: lavanda, cedro, Citrus, adaptiv... Calmer, Rescue, etc etc. Luca se despertó a las 6am y estaba feliz de ver el amanecer. Yo quería seguir durmiendo, luego recordé que me faltan 12 años para que termine la primera etapa de su formación y me entregué, es decir, me levanté. Cumplimos con la hora, el uniforme, la conexión, el espacio de estudio y las ganas. Con el uso de los audífonos NO, y creo que es una medida innecesaria. La primera clase fue aprender a reconocer sus estados de ánimo con respecto al inicio de clases. Luca en principio dijo que se sentía un poco “embarrassed”. En la tercera clase su maestra no le dijo que había hecho un “good job” pintando unas figuras, no por nada malo, sólo siguió hablando con todos, y Luca sacó el bam bam que lleva por dentro y casi golpea su computadora, seguido de unas lágrimas a lo Candy Candy. Me tomó como 15 minutos calmarlo, esperar a que le quitaran el “mute” para que le dijera a su maestra que él estaba “disappointed” y que estaba “frustrated” por eso. A mi me daba un poco de risa, pero me la tragaba para evitar el apocalipsis. Al menos sé que entendió bien la primera clase. Luca con todos las terapias que recibe por su mundo 💙 está acostumbrado a la validación de sus buenos actos, su sistema no procesa que no se le reconozca cuando lo hizo bien, incluso te pide que se lo digas: “mami, verdad que yo lo hice bien?”, y responder le refuerza las conductas positivas. Difícilmente un maestro por zoom logre conectar con esa respuesta necesaria frente a varios alumnos, todos en cuadritos de tv. Ergonomic Study Space . . Happy Sunday! I guess one of the perks of being an osteopathic medical student is that you are constantly thinking about the stress on your spine and how you want to stretch your iliopsoas muscle if you sit for too long (#iykyk!). Plus, I worked in a lab where my lab manager was super particular about this stuff, shout-out to him for teaching me all this. I just wanted to share a couple of items I use that keep my posture in check while I work at my desk. . . Here’s a couple reminders: 🔸 When you sit on your chair (with your feet comfortably touching the floor) you want your head to be facing straight ahead (no hunching or looking down for too long) 🔸 You want your arms at your sides with your forearms parallel to your work surface. 🔸 For me, getting these items was an investment in my health. I’ve signed myself up for a lifetime of long hours sitting at a desk, so I want to take care of my back & spine and avoid degenerative conditions down the line as much as possible! . . Here’s what’s helped me achieve the above! 1️⃣ My desktop monitor lets me relieve any tension on my cervical vertebrae! I just make sure it is arms length away and the top of the desktop is at eye level. 2️⃣ My laptop stand, Bluetooth keyboard + mouse help me keep my posture in check at home and anywhere else I go to study. The stand is foldable and adjustable and the keyboard is slim, so it’s super helpful to stash in a bag when I go to the library. . . Aside from that, a comfortable chair & good lighting work wonders to make the space comfortable and reduce eye strain. Being an “entrepreneur” can be lonely and confusing. Especially at this stage, very early in the business and with so much learning and development still ahead, it’s easy to be filled with doubt. I see friends living their lives, moving up the ladder in their respective lines of work, making clear professional progress, and enjoying well earned validation for it. I see them making good money while every dime my partners and I have stays in the business. I face friends and family, wondering if you really have something going on or are just too lazy or uninventive to go get a real job. I wonder it myself, am I lazy? Am I crazy? Am I actually spending my time wisely? Is this foolish? Have I surrendered the opportunity of a conventional but successful career out of naïveté? The jury is still out on these questions. Jika dikerucutkan maka pertanyaan kuncinya adalah: Apa fungsi seni di dunia yang tengah mengalami krisis ini? Bagaimana kita semua bisa survive? Jawaban yg ditawarkan banyak dan beragam namun jika direfleksikan, manusia kini hanya mampu melakukan hal-hal yang esensial -hal yang dianggap penting. Jika para pelaku seni merasa dikesampingkan dalam strategi mengelola krisis, jangan-jangan apa yg kita lakukan selama ini memang tidak terhitung esensial? Mungkin banyak hal penting yang lengah kita bangun ketika ‘industri’ seni berjalan secara ‘normal’, situasi di mana kewajaran was taken for granted. Salah satu hal yang disadari sering luput untuk kita lakukan, setidaknya dalam dunia seni tari, adalah pencatatan, pengarsipan mengenai proses, catatan perjalanan, bukti yang dapat menjembatani komunikasi kita dengan publik luas mengenai peranan seni dalam perkembangan peradaban manusia. Catatan yang merekam bahwa seni hidup dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, bukan cuma di galeri atau gedung teater. Seni ada di bungkus sabun, iklan tivi, siaran radio, video klip, layar tiktok, efek instastory, motif mukena, packaging makanan, handle pintu, spanduk pecel lele bahkan stiker angkot. We’re homeschooling 6 kids this year! We have two kids in 5th grade, one in 2nd grade, one in kindergarten, and two in pre-school. It sounds like a lot, but it only took one afternoon to plan the year because 1) @timberdoodleco makes it super simple, and 2) we’ve already been through most of these grades before. If you’re new to homeschooling this year, you got this! Like many things, the more you do it, the easier it gets. I think the main struggles are getting used to an unfamiliar weekly rhythm and addressing the holes it exposes in our parenting skills. I try my best to write and post in a way that feels most honest and true to me. There’s a lottt of BS out there. . . So just thinking that when I add a little more strategy in here. Los sube y baja emocionales, la frustración, la tristeza, la rabia, el encierro, la soledad. Pero viendo hacia atrás aunque esto aún no ha terminado, las herramientas que a mi me han servido han sido: • Entrenamiento Mental: aprender técnicas y herramientas para controlar la mente. Waking up 5 minutes before work sounds like a dream 😴 but for our #NYPFAM @shirshxr, she actually got to live it! For 6 months, Year 3 School of Business Management student @nypsbmclub, Shirleen, was a full-time #WFH intern for Metro @metrosingapore, where she was involved in several promotional campaigns and also helped to bring many retail brands online. 🤳🏼 The lack of real-life face time was challenging, but she overcame it by stepping out of her comfort zone to work on her verbal communication skills, and even built lasting relationships with her fellow colleagues who have now become her friends. Congratulations to our Y12 Sports Leaders Zoe Cowan, Brydi Hutchinson and Gabriella Fitzpatrick, who have been selected as 2020 Australian Olympic Change-Maker Award recipients. The Australian Olympic Change-Maker Awards recognise students who demonstrate the Olympic spirit through leadership and driving positive change in their communities. Last week Zoe, Brydi and Gabriella attended a virtual forum to hear from Olympians about what makes a great leader. Dentro del proyecto de investigación científica escolar de Vicente y Raúl, han obtenido 243 capturas fotográficas nocturas de Zorros Gris o Chilla acercandose a la población de Pingüino Rey; de esas, 131 fueron registradas cuando existía más del 75% de la superficie de la luna visible. Parece que nuestra querida luna quiere iluminar el camino de los zorros para que encuentren más facilmente a los polluelos de Pingüino Rey 😔🐧 Recordemos que la especie Lycalopex griseus fue introducida en el año 1951 en Tierra del Fuego, siendo el único lugar donde se comporta como introducida, porque en el resto del territorio es nativa. Esto corresponde a uno de los resultados de este proyecto, gracias a la instalación de cámaras trampas que los investigadores lograron realizan los primero días de marzo de este año. El monitoreo no cesa y los estudiantes siguen puliendo su proyecto, puesto que estamos a las puertas de entrar a la fase 2: la difusión de los resultados en eventos científicos escolares.
