Long emotional public Instagram captions aren’t my love language, but here we go. I don’t feel I began to live until we met. A lot of things have changed since 2005, but one constant has been your heart. There have been many times in my life that I felt alone in the world, and you have always been there to show me the light. When I was going through one of the hardest fights of my life, living out of my car, just trying to make it through school, you sheltered me. Through the many heartbreaks both emotionally and professionally, you’ve helped me back to my feet and lifted my head, reminding me to stay proud. When I felt I had nothing to offer except assisting others in achieving their vision, you knew better. After spending nine years behind a desk, you showed me the world and told me to chase my dreams. 2019, what a year! A lot of people are sharing their top 9 photos. I take thousands of photos each year that never leave my computer, so I dusted off the ol’ harddrive to share my top 9 photos from 2019 that I never posted. . 1. At Mooney Falls, @brvantn and I took some photos from above before making the super sketchy descent. There was actually a helicopter gurney at the bottom, just in case. Woof. 2. Seven Magic Mountains during an overnight shoot with @gatr and Bryant. Super fun. #midnightmusubi 3. My dad guessing Keiko’s birthday at our baby shower. He guessed his own birthday and was only 2 days off! 4. @chrismporter taking a picture of @brady_j_miller taking a picture of me taking a picture of Porter at a hike before work. My favorite kind of picture. 5. In the combo office/nursery, 8 days before Keiko was born, Miles marching past a very pregnant @dianayo622 - she was working from home and hoping that the exercise ball would help induce labor. 6. Miles and his brother @cheddarthewonderdoodle on their 3rd birthday. Also it was Diana’s birthday or whatever. We had a bunch of dogs and folks over. 7. Took a week off from posting to reconnect with nature and recalibrate my mental health. With all the distress taking place it was pleasant to gallivant around the Yavapai valleys of Red Rock Country, Sedona. #Sedona is a truly mysterious spot on this planet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here’s a bit of Sedona history: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 700 AD a native culture that practiced farming and created pottery referred to as the Hakataya who were soon joined by another tribe called the Hohokam. After another tribe, the Sinagua, moved into the region, the merged people of the area are referred to as the Southern Sinagua. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After the Southern Sinagua abandoned the Sedona region, the Yavapai and the Tonto Apaches moved into the region. The most common interpretation of the name Yavapai is that it comes from the Yavapai words Enyaleva (sun) and pai (people). As I’ve began this new year with huge amounts of bliss and immense creative passion, spending my New Years with new friends, beautiful luxurious new experiences and a more evolved love for myself and my partner, I came to what’s called and upper limit in the month following. Have you ever been on such a high in your experience but end up creating something that brings everything crashing down around you and you feel like all is lost? Like the past experience will never be that incredible again? I have. And my inner dialogue kept telling me I failed, I failed. Not seeing it as an opportunity for growth in that moment, but like all I want to do is to give up. Well that was me. I’ve been playing the victim over and over and even with my partner, coach, and myself supporting me I still played out that story. It’s time I get real and vulnerable and share that this story is to be shed like on old skin. It’s time for me to go deep within and use the tools I’ve been given to do the work. I am incredibly grateful to be held in such a beautiful energetic container by the people who love me, see my strength, and understand that my true being is oneness. Mother natures water park. Fairly easy canyon that can be done without a rope, unless you are afraid to jump off a 20-25 ft ledge at the end of the canyon. We saw a couple groups that decided to back track and ended up finishing about the same time we did, because of the one hour wait time for the jump. Around May every year is when we pack our essentials (hammock/tent, sleeping bag, MREs) and drive 500 miles for our annual Xanadu backpacking trip. We spend the first starry night at the top on the canyon and at 4AM before the sunrises, we make our 2,000ft decent into the canyon in the moonlight. It’s glorious upon arrival as it means we get to call this place our home for the next few days. We setup camp on the blue green river than runs through the canyon. We explore all the majestic cascading waterfalls, the seemingly never ending luscious fields of foliage, and the beautiful red rock shapes that line the blue sky. No social media updates, no screen, no beeping or buzzing, no cars, no walls to isolate from each other - just some humans hanging out together in the vastness and beauty of Mother Nature. This world has so much beauty in it and we are so thankful to be able to experience a sliver of it. This natural sandstone arch is a must see when visiting Sedona. We hiked before sunrise and had the whole place all to ourselves for about an hour. We used the @pocketwizard PlusX trigger to take this self portrait. I am TERRIFIED actually, and before this shot I literally had a mini anxiety attack, to the point that I was shaking and unexpected tears ran down my cheeks. No idea why Bc I was Uber excited to get to this spot & take these dope shots! But living on the edge (literally) was scarier than I thought ! 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐝: * No Drones are allowed * Horseshoe Bend is now charging a cover fee to enter the park of $10/ passenger car * If the parking lot is full, you may be asked to leave and return at a different time * The best time to go to Horseshoe Bend is at sunset on weekdays. Avoid holidays! * Bring a camera with landscape photography lens and tripod, if possible. * It can get pretty windy, so consider bringing a jacket * It’s best to wear good tennis Shoes since the ground doesn’t have a lot of traction to avoid slipping. And finally TAKE LOTS OF WATER ! Looking for the experience of the Grand Canyon but cant ditch work for 21+ days? Complete with a chaotic put-in, long days and solitude, the San Rafael Rivers Little Grand Canyon is like paddling a weekend version of the Grand Canyon. Unlike the Grand Canyon, which was lifted as one massive block of horizontally layered rocks, the San Rafael Swell was squeezed upward into what is called an anticline. Basically, a dome of warped sedimentary rocks. For that reason, some rock layers in parts of the Swell have a curved or folded appearance. The end of this month will mark a year since I left to travel in the Middle East for three weeks. Solitude has become the seductress to witch I cannot turn away. Bewitched by the wander and mystery she meets me with, drenched by the possibilities of the depths we will reach together. She has always been present with me, through imaginary play and creative exploration, but our relationship transformed as I stepped into my womanhood. Our first affair began at age 20. I’d just ended a nearly 8 year relationship and she enticed me to four months together on the open road, just solitude and I. Roaming the country far and wide with nowhere to be and everywhere to go. That was where it truly began. Since, we’ve explored countless countries, climbed many a mountains, trails, waterfalls, sunsets, sunrises and more road trips across this land. She’s been the most consistent comfort throughout my time. Often I’m met with people not understanding our connection. How someone could desire so much presence in solitude... but what they don’t know is I am her. Solitude is my soul pulling me deeper into myself. Daring me to go boldly to the places that I once thought only existed in the dream realm. Giving me the confidence to explore the depths within myself while wandering the depths of the earth plane.
