a year ago today, i was looking out on the crowd, seeing thousands of people with their creative signs and enthusiasm. I remember standing there imagining what i was seeing but 10 or 20 years in the future, picturing a red sky with the land so dry. Navajo Nation 57-Hour Weekend Lockdowns and UPDATED Daily Curfew Hours Weekend Lockdown Start: October 2, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. (MDT) End: October 5, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. (MDT) Start: October 9, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. (MDT) End: October 12, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. (MDT) Daily Curfew Hours (Monday - Friday) 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (MDT) Public Health Order 2020-024: On Sept. 29, with the advice of health care experts the Navajo Nation will continue a Stay-At-Home Order and stricter daily and weekend lockdown hours due to the number of new cases of COVID-19 in surrounding states and are on an upward trajectory during the previous ten (10) days. Similarly, Navajo Nation new COVID-19 case trends have increased, and the percent of COVID-19 tests which are positive continue to rise and clusters continue to emerge in other areas of the Navajo Nation. These cluster cases are a direct result of family gatherings and off-Reservation travel. They also have the potential to lead to an outbreak and another surge in cases on the Navajo Nation, which may overwhelm the health care system on the Navajo Nation if not mitigated immediately. Public Health Emergency Order No. 2020-024 states, âIndividuals may leave their place of residence only for emergencies or to perform essential activities, which primarily include activities and tasks essential to health, safety, and welfare. All businesses including all stores, gas stations, restaurants, drive-thru food establishments, hay and all other vendors are required to cease operations and close during the partial weekend lockdowns and daily curfew hours. Individuals are permitted to conduct farming activities and tend to livestock, however livestock owners must plan ahead to purchase hay and feed â hay vendors will not be allowed to sell during the weekend lockdown and daily curfew hours. Residents are also allowed to exercise outdoors within their immediate residential area or home site area during non-curfew hours. Given the unique circumstances of 2020, our summer interns had a different experience than ever before. Instead of a 10-week program, these interns worked virtually for two weeks on a case study in the ESG space. They looked at how Morningstar can continue optimizing ESG data in our products, our Corporate Sustainability, and our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
