Delaware used to have a 5 year waiting period for re-registration, but that was removed in 2013. Now people charged with most felonies can re-register to vote after completing their sentence and supervision. 👏🏼Progress👏🏼 is👏🏼absolutely👏🏼NOT👏🏼linear👏🏼 The feeling skaters get all too often is the common “I used to be able to do this with no problem and now I can’t”. Personally, double axel and triple loop have been a huge mental block for me ever since I landed my first ones. I never felt like I was “good enough” to even try which seriously held back my progress. Mental blocks are real and it has nothing to do with level of talent or ability. Mental blocks happen to every single skater at some time or another. Sometimes coaches, parents and outsiders don’t understand or respond in helpful ways. The easy thing for others to do is to say “you have this problem with your skating and you used to be able to fix it so just do it right from now on”. The hard thing for outsiders to do is come up with a plan to push past mental blocks and gain success again. I think we need to reevaluate how we speak to athletes, especially when they’re obviously struggling internally. Let them take a break, give them time to WANT to do the scary and hard thing again. And remember whether IRL or in the comments section on social media, your words can and do effect others mentally.
