Please read her full post below for details. #Repost @sarahconomacos ・・・ The concept of starvation mode perpetuates the idea that a low calorie intake will lead to a cessation of weight loss, as well as a preferential storage of fat by the body. The starvation experiment conducted by Keys et al (1950), although clearly unethical, gives no credit to the claims of starvation mode. The men in this study experienced drastic weight loss as well as other side effects of such caloric restriction. Despite the acknowledgement that a large percentage of people overestimate caloric expenditure and underestimate caloric intake (causing them to not be in a caloric deficit,) its important to realize the bodys attempt at maintaining homeostasis during periods of caloric restriction through mechanisms such as reduced NEAT activity. Bottom line, barring a medical condition (which would be a rarity) if there isnt a trend of weight loss over a period of time, your caloric expenditure is less (or equal to) your intake. - @christy.shaw on Instagram

Is your health journey stressing you out? 👉🏽⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I started on my journey of healing my eczema and digestion issues, I tried to do IT ALL. I planned out every single meal, cooked everything from scratch, fit in workouts everyday. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I while this was so important for me, the way I was doing it was also STRESSING me out. Well it turns out, this stress pretty much reversed all the benefits of my healthy habits! 🤦🏽♀️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When we experience stress, theres an increase of the hormone Cortisol. Whats worse than one stressful event, is repetition. Studies show that even just the THOUGHT of something stressful and replaying that in our minds can lead to chronic stress levels, overactivate the immune system, and lead to more allergies, asthma, arthritis etc. ✖️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So yes, get in all the healthy habits you can. But also ask yourself if you are taking on too much and are stressing out. Now when I feel sense of stress in my body, I make sure to slow down and keep it simple until I am ready to take on more. 💕⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have you ever felt stress from taking on too much?
