please take five minutes today to read my highlight “helping SW’s” and fill in the scottish government’s consultation form to reject their plans to introduce the nordic model. *you do not have to be scottish to do this*. you guys are so so good for sharing my posts when it comes to sex work; this time i need your help with action. this move is an insidious policy which does not seek to help sex workers - it will drive the industry underground, decrease the ability to screen & implement safety measures, & endanger thousands. the stigma surrounding sex workers already is abysmal and this will make it worse. rather than focusing on reducing trafficking and providing genuine aid - such as housing, addiction support, mental health services & more readily available healthcare, they just want to “wipe out” sex work entirely. this however, will never happen - and so what is already a precarious industry with the most basic safety nets will vanish and become a very scary thing. sex workers deserve our respect. sex work is work ♥️ - @kardatoons on Instagram

Ever since I was young I knew what I wanted to accomplish in this world. When we don’t achieve those dreams it has nothing to do with any other outside factor but ourselves. I gave up on many opportunities to help make other people happy. But I learned, living your life to make others happy will lead you on a dead end street. Because people don’t often see the vision you have for yourself and if you don’t align yourself and surround yourself with like-minded individuals, you’re going to see life from a bitter view. Self-care is the main way I’m able to get through the week. When I’m stressed, I double up and take extra time for myself. Not everyone knows how to begin self-care and sometimes it’s nice to learn what other people are doing to level up. So, here are some of my favorites: Face Masks: Green tea face masks, Honey + Germanium + Tea Tree Face Mask Nails: my jawns are long and strong. And beautifully painted if I must say so myself💅🏽 Keep a nail file (a 4 way so you can buff and smooth) in your purse if your nail starts to break off. Also, take a fish oil supplement. Thank me later. Yoga, Deep stretching: Especially after taking an edible. Do half a dose if a full is too much. Baby steps, Queens. Music: Right now, I’m listening to @durandbernarr’s album “Dur&” on repeat. My favorites are... Stuck, Company, Racket & Summons. So, I was asked to talk about how cosplay helps my mental health. I feel like I need to respond with, “Let me count the ways!” Seriously though, cosplay has been an amazing and creative outlet for me. It’s helped me connect with others in ways I never would’ve been able to otherwise. Being in cosplay makes me feel... Free. It makes me brave. I am socially awkward. I have major depression and anxiety. The idea of anyone “noticing” me has been TERRIFYING my entire life. Well, until I discovered cosplay about 5 years ago. Now I can’t wait to get to con and see who stops me to talk cosplay or ask for a photo. And I’ve even been in a couple of magazines, small features but still! Cosplay gives me something to focus on when my depression is on the rise. It helps with my anxiety because, well it’s not really me it’s whatever character I’m dressed as. #alloyiusmcilwaineart 🎨 - This one hits really hard. I first painted this piece when the groundbreaking movie the @blackpanther, first came out. When the movie first debuted, many people didn’t understand what the big deal was. Here’s my perspective on the matter: When I was young, my mom had a really hard time finding toys and stories for me that featured Black heroes. There were a few...but they were definitely not in abundance, and they were sometimes hard to track down. Fast forward to 2018, and the Black Panther movie comes out...featuring the first superhero of African descent to debut in mainstream American comics (he debuted in Fantastic Four #52 in 1966). The Black Panther has had many comic book series over the years...even some highly acclaimed ones...but the movie is really what brought the character into an international spotlight. After the movie hit, you see books and toys everywhere featuring Black heroes . You see an influx of people in the African American community proudly showcasing their heritage & culture. You even had people from other cultures who were inspired to showcase their traditions because of the movie. But this is what touched me the most: I saw so many young white children wearing Black Panther T-shirts. I passed 1 kid on the street, & the kid gave me the “Wakanda Forever” crossed arm gesture. So I smiled & returned the gesture. I got a bit emotional, because the kid saw me, and he didn’t see some hyper-aggressive thug caricature. He saw someone who could be a king and a hero...and that gave me such hope for a brighter future. That was the power of that movie...and that was just one of the amazing characters that @chadwickboseman brought to life with his amazing talent. But I’m happy to report that I ignored them all and followed my vision anyway. Virgo always reminds me that with clarity of vision and dedication to practice, any goal can be achieved as long as an adequate time frame is allotted. This means that change is always happening, but intentional change takes time. It took me 33 years to reach the state I knew I wanted to become: non-binary, sober, astrologer, writer. Each step of the way was met with difficulty: a personal challenge to face, fears to overcome, barriers in my way. Just because something is hard does not mean it’s impossible. I take that same dedication to the practice and transformation of self and I know that we are capable of changing the systems that are going awry in this world. If it is possible for me to accomplish what was unimaginable, then it is possible for us to achieve what is necessary.
