Thrilled to be part of the largest presentation of a Felix Gonzales-Torres piece ‘Untitled’(fortune cookie corner) 1990. Initiated by Andrea Rosen Gallery and David Zwirner Gallery we are proud to be one of 1000 places in the world for this official launch today May 25th until July 5th 2020. The location I chose is the entrance of the gallery which used to be Ghislaine Hussenot Gallery who represented Felix in Paris for a few exhibitions. Not part of our current show, it stands in the entrance of the venue as a remembrance of so many great artists Ghislaine has shown in this gallery from the eighties until 2006 when I took over. Because of this it feels even more special for me to be part of this global presentation. As we welcome visitors back to the gallery, we gladly invite people to get closer to the art by also cracking open the cookie and read its message. Why I changed my pfp.
Since I was five, I ate five almonds a day To supposedly improve my memory. I stopped after turning eighteen But even at twenty six, minuscule daily activities bring out the vivid evocation of my love. Solving the daily sudoku In the morning newspaper, Flicking the pen in the valley between my fingers, Reminds me of his slender fingers, planting flowers with the magic of intertwining ours together. I open my wardrobe To take out a blue pleated skirt, And the image of his skyblue eyes Gets painted on my retina. Recalling which, I rapidly blink to control the breaking of a dam. I prepare my breakfast, Toast with a cup of tea Which turns out to be burnt As I was lost in thoughts about, How my brown breakfast Matched his perfectly tanned cinnamon skin. I see my reflection in the mirror, Admiring how the electrons lost themselves to form the oxidised jhumkas I was wearing, I recall losing my heart To form an adorable love story. I thought I needed him, The way I need oxygen, Instead he was the one which left me tarnished, just like my jhumkas. As the day comes to an end, I wrap my fingers around a hot cup of cocoa, the warm sensation soothing my anxious nerves. It reminds me of his arms wrapped around my waist, Comforting me after a long tiring day. I glance outside the window and see the sun bidding goodbye to the sky, I get a flashback of your farewell. I created Butterfly Effect Aerial Yoga with a purpose of not just becoming a small business owner but to share that incredible feeling I get everytime I am in my hammock. I was in a place where anxiety, social anxiety and motherhood had completely taken over my life. I was stuck and unhappy with how I felt, with how my clothes were fitting, and mostly my lack of energy. Especially when all three kids around during quarantine. My previous life had me so focused on the negative of other people it increased my already socially awkward personality to the point I just shut out people all together which is not something that has ever been good for my mental health. Then one morning I woke up tired of having no friends (except my 2 oldest friends back in Oregon), tired of trying to wear something that didnt fit right because I refused to buy bigger clothes... again and tired of only have minimal energy to play with my kids. This is the day that I started my personal Butterfly Effect. I had my husband hang my yoga trapeze up in the garage for me. That was the best decision I had made. Everyday I wake up before my family and flow in my hammock. Every day since that day has rippled into so many great and new beginnings. My anxiety is down, I no longer look at myself and feel self conscious about the way I look, I see my self worth and no longer put myself down. I still have parts of me that I will continue to work on but I have turned a negative thought into a positive. Instead of saying I hate this or this is gross I see it as an opportunity to continue improving myself to be my best self & set an example for my kids of how to love yourself. Butterfly Effect Aerial Yoga is not just about getting in a hammock and sitting in pretty poses. I will push you in class and I will work you. I will build your overall body strength and through all of this I will help you see how beautiful of a person they are inside and out. In 3 years: no blockages, less than 10 leaks (thank you Eakin Pelican convex bags @omnigoncaresolutions), could eat what I wanted, no more toilet anxiety. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My ostomy was Life 2.0 after suffering through 17 years of severe pan ulcerative colitis, with 6 years of uncontrollable flares, 20+ a day bathroom trips, bloody stools, medical side effects, exhaustion, pain etc. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So why change something when it’s working? I believe you’ve got to try everything once. A j-pouch was always an option for me, so why not? So I removed all negative thoughts and fear and focused on a positive, happy outcome for my surgeries. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I had my first BM and passed gas on day 1 post op reversal, with complete control, no pain and no blood - all that UC trauma began to slip away. I‘m about to start a new adventure with my j-pouch (although not as pretty to draw as an ostomy haha) and I know it’s going to be just as good as my ostomy life! It’s gonna be life 3.0 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For those wondering - I will continue to make ostomy art and now I’ll make more j-pouch ones too! Jour 5 - T3, Bratislava, Slovaquie. La « Concordance Des Temps » et des photos du report d’hier ont été contaminée par une faille temporelle. Comme c’est super super important, vous voilà notifié.e.s. Hier (mais aujourd’hui au moment où je fais mon brouillon de ce report) tout est question d’équipes et de répartition des tâches. Premier réveil à 6h45 (hier hein), DB et Ted partent apporter le camion à l’hôpital des camions puis reviennent se coucher. Démarrage de l’équipe complète vers les coups de 11-12h, après quelques escapades individuelles. Le camion étant en attente de diagnostic et les personnes chez qui on dort toujours en train de dormir (hier hein, là elles sont sans doute réveillées, ou pas d’ailleurs, qu’en sais-je au jour d’aujourd’hui?!), on ne peut pas partir sans laisser quelqu’un dans l’appartement. Après le réveil de nos supers hôtes de Human Behavior, on file au buffet vegan asiat’ chez Xu’s vegetarian cooking. Mega solide et dumplings faits maison. On apprends au passage que le camion est réparé (au passage, merci à Pierre pour son support à distance). Re-split en équipes, 1 team sieste, 1 team camion, 1 team courses. On finit par se rassembler pour repartir vers Bratislava, on rejoue ce soir, pardon, hier soir, enfin le 29 quoi. Novembre. Non. Octobre. Voilà. Avec Ed Warner. Dans un wagon de tram réhabilité en lieu de concert. C’est assez surréaliste mais très cool. Ça joue tôt et on est en retard, on raccourcit donc tous nos sets pour que les 3 groupes rentrent dans le créneau 20h15-22h. Ça le fait, y a du monde, le wagon bouge, le gulash (différent de celui d’hier et d’avant-hier) est excellent. Dodo séparé en 2 groupes, on se couche tôt car demain (enfin aujourd’hui quand vous me lirez, si vous me lisez demain (le 30/10/2019 quoi)), on se tape 8h de route (théorique) pour aller jusqu’à Verone.
