To ask if my kids will be involved in my campaign would be like asking if I plan to wear clothes on the regular. All the time. All. The. Time. (One is sitting on my arm as Im typing this.) I have four small children- they do everything I do outside of work hours. They come to city council meetings, they go to town halls, they go to every outdoor event. When we walk in parades, we walk with more children than adults. My children are not out with me as a campaign accessory, this is my everyday life, and the life of every person raising young children. Part of making our legislature address the needs of our community is making the legislature reflect our community, including families with young children. This time last week, the sun broke through the clouds long enough to shine some serious recognition and joy on the recent graduates of our English program. Representing 19+ different countries from all around the world, these English Language Learners have dedicated themselves to learning English. Just as we started a new term of classes with these students this spring, Covid-19 hit, and we were forced to move all of our classes online. For some of our students, this was the first time using a computer, much less using a video conferencing platform like Zoom! They amaze us. They inspire us. I had to work with what I had, and It came out better than expected! Thanks to all those who helped! So happy I had the opportunity to paint.
