Great news came from Rome last week: the European Olympic Committees @eoc_social and the Organizing committee of the 3rd European Games in Krakow (Poland) have agreed to include modern pentathlon into the competition program. For four years, together with colleagues, we worked on this, planned to be in Minsk 2019, but did not have enough time to make it happen. Finally, a great achievement and another recognition of our sport! I am very glad that modern pentathlon will be presented for the first time at the European Games. Skiing💘 Unexpectedly this race season came to an early end and since a while back I came to the conclusion that this was my last one. It’s been a rollercoaster these past years and I have so much to thank ski racing for during this time. I am so so happy and thankful for all the friends I’ve got and all the experience I’ve gained. Everyone that has supported me to continue in trying to reach my goals, thanks for believing in me💖 I don’t have the spark and fire to continue and push trough the barriers in my mind. As the years have gone by I’ve built an awareness of the risks in our sport, and as much as I love to go fast and clean that awareness has gotten bigger than the will to win. I didn’t reach all my goals, but I’m so proud of how far I’ve come. Especially of all my comebacks. As you go through a career you kind of forget where you set your goals along the way, and if I would’ve told the 12 year old me that I’m going to make it to the national team and race in the biggest league I wouldn’t have believed me. I’m still so in love with skiing and as I now leave racing I’m staying in the love affair with skis and mountains. TACK till alla ni som hjälpt och stöttat mig för att komma hit jag nått. U.S Men’s World Cup speed skier, Wiley “Danger” Maple (@wcmaple), is officially calling it a career. I had the chance to meet Wiley two years ago while racing in the @usalpinemasters FIS Masters/Western Regional events at @aspensnowmass . He showed up to the DH race. He is younger than me, and I was running DFL, so they slotted him in right after me. The rush, excitement, and terror of having a World Cup racer right behind me in a DH race at Aspen is something I’ll never forget. DH intervals are 60 seconds, but they gave him a second interval just to make sure he wouldn’t catch me 😂. He ended up beating me by around 20 seconds!! 😬🤷♂️ A lot of people knew him, but you would have no idea he was on the World Cup (besides his finish time). 😉 He was just a regular dude, talking with anyone who wanted to chat. He told us stories about some of his races, specifically the time he got yellow flagged while on course at the Hahnenkamm in Kitzbuhel and had to go back to the top to run it again. (Yea, I’m good!). Sounds like he’s sticking around Aspen so maybe we’ll see him at a Masters race again. Congrats on a wild, fun, and crazy career! - @nems_racing on Instagram

30 years ago my parents suffered or hopefully celebrated a great change in their lives when they brought me into this world. Now at 30 I’m also in the greatest transition of my life (thankfully it’s not a kid;). But the end of an era all the same. I’ve had to say goodbye to too much recently... ▲ How do you wrap up a dream. @timothypkelley probably did it best with a simple “I’m retiring.” Apparently, I don’t have the resolve to end it so simply. ❄︎ It was a hell of a ride, a pain in the ass- full of failures and splashes of glory. Betrayals, destroyers of dreams and a generation of American skiers, mistakes, broken bones and broken hearts. Memories spread across the corners of globe. In the end, I’ll remember the people that made it glorious. The mischief we made. The places I’ve been. But, I’m sure I’ll find something equally stupid in time with just as rowdy a crew- perhaps I already have. @the_freakstagram ❄︎ It was an honor and a privilege to share the battlefield with so many and race the world at skiings highest level. Thanks to all that made it possible and all that made it fun! ❄︎ What’s next? recovering from a spinal fusion- in my parents Basment “Ma! The meatloaf!” perhaps crash a funeral here and there—but most try to survive my 18th surgery. I’ll be finishing my degree in philosophy over the next year, contemplating the meaning of life and what could possibly follow such and era. Je mi smutno z dnešního rozhodnutí bezpečnostní rady vlády, a přiznám se, dost dobře mu nerozumím. Chápu, že zdraví je na prvním místě a nijak to nerozporuji, byť v souvislosti s touhle korochřipkou mě opravdu žádná panika nepohlcuje. Na druhou stranu mi není úplně jasné, proč je nutné zakázat diváky v NMNM, přičemž ze zahraničí jich mělo dorazit kolem 4 tisíc a počítadlo se s 25-30 tisíci návštěvníků denně, dokud necháme v provozu letiště, nákupní centra, pražskou MHD a další. Jen letiště Václava Havla denně odbaví desítky tisíc (tuším 50-60) cestujících, kteří se setkají s palubním personálem, zaměstnanci letiště a jeho zázemí, přičemž Ti všichni jdou po směně domů. Prostě si nemyslím, že biatlon je větší riziko než takové letiště, tak mě překvapilo, že zatímco biatlonu naše vláda zakázala diváky, tak na letišti nezakázala cestující, vždyť by přece společnosti mohly bez problémů létat bez nich. Připadá mi to jako takové populistické gesto, jak vládě na lidech záleží, což mě vlastně u populistické vlády překvapit nemůže. Bez Vás fanoušků NMNM nebude to pravé NMNM a vlastně ani nevím, jestli se mi tam vůbec chce. 😔 - @michalslesingr on Instagram
