Nick Halpern is one of 25 runners taking part in the Virtual London Marathon this Sunday in aid of Child Bereavement UK. Nick will be running near his Buckinghamshire home, dressed as a star! He was hoping to break the Guinness World Record for running a marathon dressed as a star this year. While he won’t be able to officially contest the record, he’ll be donning his costume anyway to complete the virtual challenge. Nick and his wife were supported by Child Bereavement UK after their son Noah died. “Child Bereavement UK helped us to find a way forward and start to deal with the grief that was clouding our ability to live any sort of normal life,” said Nick. ✨✨✨✨ Today I turn 25 years old. For me today feels significant as I am moving further into my mother phase of life, and leaving my maiden phase further behind. I don’t say this very often but I feel some shame around being a ‘young mother’ But when I actually look at those thoughts, I see they are not mine but societal ones I just pick up from time to time. These thoughts have lead me to reflect how odd it is that it seems ‘socially acceptable’ to have children during this tiny age bracket of what we are actually able to create life. Anyway, this is not what I actually intended to share today - what I wanted to share was my intention for this next rotation around the sun. My dear friend and sister Amor asked me yesterday and I didn’t have an answer, but I feel like after much reflection my intention moving into this next year/phase is to B E G I N . This past year was all about reprogramming and settling into motherhood. But now it is time to begin all that I desire to create. To let go of my self judgement and the judgement from others I imagine. I choose here and now to commit to myself, to begin over and over until I find my flow. I grateful to be born at this time of the year, in a time of inward reflection yet also hopeful emergent energy. Being in stage 4 lockdown gives you lots of time to think and reflect on the things you miss. The obvious things are family and friends and being able to leave the house(!) but I also really miss opportunities to travel and learn. This photo came up as a memory from 8 years ago. Travelling to Chicago to attend a professional animal training workshop with @ken_ramirez_kpct was an incredible experience and one I will never forget. I met some amazing people and learnt so much. Now, more than ever I appreciate and am grateful for these opportunities.
