Seeing self expression by a variety of folks truly brings me joy and gives me hope. ...but then I ask myself. What are they really changing? Have the police stopped murdering folks? Have the judges stopped treating people unfairly? & on & on... Have the systems actually changed? I still continue to see ( and often not see ) immense suffering & pain caused by these systems from Black, Brown, Indigenous & other folks of color, and yes even too folks that look like me suffer. As a “white” cis gendered man I have always been given the benefit of the doubt, and I am still on a journey to undo the racism inside me.
