*In the discussion of space, the terms “space” and “place” are often used interchangeably. However, the two terms represent separate concepts, interacting in a dynamic relationship. Space is the more abstract concept of the two. Very simply speaking, a space can be understood as a blank slate – a physical location without any substantial meaning yet to be coloured with personal experience. On the other hand, place can be seen as space with meaning. It is a context that houses personal memories, experiences and associations for the one within it. Place can be described as a location created by human experiences. Its size is unlimited. As a person lives life, their narrative begins to etch meaning on a particular space, causing it to become a place. While places are constantly creating and molding our identities, spaces allow us to examine the identities which have been made. Suman Dey works in a meditative way, distilling the visible form - be it a butterfly or an old handbag - to an abstract motif. His paintings reveal his intense contemplation and careful formal exercises. Although he works in the non-representational language of abstract art, the link between the image and the world in his paintings has never been completely severed. Throughout the year, works from new local talent will be showcased on the billboard above the restaurant. — — George Longs choreographed depictions of individuals expressing the emotive and physical transformation of time and location, are manifested in work ranging from mixed media drawings to animation. Long makes original drawings of figures in movement then manipulates the original drawings, through tracing, stamping, copying and transferring them repeatedly onto the paper. The final figures fade and shift, repeat, overlap, separate and blend into each other with wispy, broken and smudged lines. Consegue ampliar e ver cada um dos pontinhos? Pois é. Cada ponto é uma vítima fatal da COVID. Na ultima semana, um exercicio do @design_ufpel_pandemia era fazer uso das redes, suas conexões e impactos que podem ter dentro da cibercultura. Pensei no que eu poderia falar sobre a pandemia e no que eu aprendi e nas lições que tiro dela e essas baboseiras, mas percebi que não tem muito o que ser dito. Semana passada morreram 100.000 pessoas pela irresponsabilidade do estado. Em tipografia simples, cada um desses pontos finais, formam 44 páginas escritas. Isso ignorando as pessoas enlutadas por cada ponto desses, que formam de 6 a 10 pessoas por cada um. Se contassemos, seriam 264 páginas de pontos finais com cada uma dessas pessoas, vitimadas ou enlutadas. Vai chegar o dia que essas aplicações visuais dos números vão parar de causar impacto mas, enquanto isso, ainda é nosso papel mostrar visualmente o tamanho da irresponsabilidade do estado e da (necro) politica que fazem uso - @fhcrx on Instagram
