My elephant ear plant #alocasia has a baby leaf! Not my first alocasia plant but my first to actually thrive in my home! I feel that I didn’t love this beauty enough by not taking a photo of the leaf unfurled. Am sorry baby am terribly sorry. I have been busy and I can’t believe I couldn’t pause to take a photo of your “pregnancy “ even though I noticed. The unfurling was so fast! My first ever elephant ear plant was smaller than this but equally beautiful, unfortunately It was bought in the winter , I carried it home in the open and I guess the little 15 mins exposure from the store to my home caused it to go dormant am not sure. Plus I wasn’t really savvy on how to water and care for it. But with more information I understand that alocasia doesn’t like winter ( they go dormant) . Esta cara de alegría que tengo es porque por fin trasplanté mi cuerno de alce!! 🥳🎉 ⠀ Me ha llevado unas semanas decidirme y ponerme a ello y el motivo es que no quería dañar sus hojas base. Estas estaban muy adheridas al macetero de plástico original, y además ya tenía bastante crecida una de esas nuevas hojas. S P I T Z W E G E R I C H - der Herr des Weges und zudem ein verlässlicher Freund der Familie. Wenn wir viel draußen unterwegs sind, bleibt der ein oder andere Insektenstich nicht aus. Der Saft, der aus den zerquetschen Blättern austritt, lindert den Juckreiz und Schmerz. Das Erste- Hilfe- Kraut wirkt abschwellend und antibakteriell, also auch super bei kleinen Blessuren sowie bei Brennesselquaddeln. Wie es der Name schon verrät, findest du den WEGERICH auf Wegen sowie am Wegesrand auf Wiesen und in Gärten. Er ist weit verbreitet und deswegen fast überall zu finden. Ich hatte eine Zeit lang immer ein Fläschchen der Spitzwegerichtinktur im Rucksack dabei, um auf kleine Notfälle schnell reagieren zu können. Doch weil er so weit verbreitet ist und fast das ganze Vegetationsjahr zu finden ist, habe ich von ihr nicht sehr oft gebraucht gemacht. Alle Pflanzenteile sind essbar. Die Blätter können als Gemüse, Salat oder auch als Suppenbeilage verwendet werden. Die Knospen haben einen leicht nussigen Geschmack. Wenn du sie in Öl anröstet, schmecken sie leicht pilzartig, was viele Speisen angenehm bereichert. Gesund ist er dazu natürlich auch noch, denn er steckt voller Vitamin B und C und ist reich an Gerb- und Schleimstoffen. Durch diese Schleimstoffe ist der Spitzwegerich ein wunderbares Hausmittel gegen Heiserkeit, Reizhusten und Schluckbeschwerden. Dafür einfach ein paar Blätter klein schneiden und mit kaltem Wasser übergießen und ein paar Stunden ziehen lassen. Today I want to show you a close up of Kalanchoe Tubiflora aka mother of millions. As I mentioned earlier, it produces millions of plant babies as it blooms. You can see how those baby pups are standing tall on the corner of each leaf. Also, if you look carefully, you can see their teeny tiny roots popping out of the base as well. It is absolutely mesmerizing to see this succulent. Slowly these pups fall on the ground. I collect them and put in other planters. I soil propagated some of my string of turtles a month or two ago. It recently had a growth explosion so I decided to plant it at the base of my monstera deliciosa. Im hoping that it carpets the base of this huge pot and eventually trails over the edges. Im really enjoying group planting at the moment. Im a sentimental person, so in my eyes, sharing plant cuttings or bulbs is the perfect intersection of thoughtfulness, friendship, and nature. Last night @phileodendron posted about sharing plants and all the reasons it is a good idea, and I couldnt say it better myself. ⁣ ⁣ Now let me be a history nerd for just a minute. In 1961 the Irish Ambassador to the U.S. gave President Kennedy a Swedish Ivy plant as a token of affection between the people of our two countries. You have likely seen this plant in the background of many Oval Office pictures (swipe for examples). ⁣ ⁣ Well, the relative of a friend of @lgbgrounded, who worked in the White House, received a cutting from this plant years ago. At some point he gifted a cutting to her and it grew and flourished. And you guessed it. Last week she gave ME a cutting 🥰🌱⁣ ⁣ If you Google it, youll see that the White House occasionally gives cuttings to people who work there, so many generations of this plant are scattered around the country (and maybe the world!). It really is a beautiful story and a beautiful life for that original plant. And it will always hold a special place in my heart - I cant wait until shes big enough for me to share with someone! We , the ginger rhizomes , are patiently awaiting the sun 🌞 to adorn MBGs balcony early September so that we can go into our permanent homes and expand our family under that awesome potting mix. We started sprouting in July due to the monsoon moisture and were put in some water so that we can sprout roots and sprout we did with all our might 💪. Been 4 weeks since we saw even a hint of sun . Eagerly awaiting some warmth and sun . By nature we like growing in partial shade , so 4 to 5 hours of sun works great for us . We are tropical 🌴 and enjoy warm weather . This is an Aussie native, Dockrilla linguiforme, aka, tongue orchid endemic to Eastern Australia. It is a hardy orchid which can grow both epiphyticly 🌳 and lithophytically (onto rocks 🗻). As an expat from the 🇺🇸, I would be lying if I said I didnt miss the familiar native flora and fauna of California. I miss going on outdoor adventures and being able to ID a handful of species everytime. Moving across the 🌏 has given me the perfect opportunity to learn about entirely new ecosystems and plants up close. It has been a rewarding journey to learn about the natives of 🇦🇺.
