🤔 WHAT WILL YOU WEAR DURING LABOUR (if anything 😉) I really didn’t plan this! It was freezing at the hospital so I popped on a hospital gown without thinking. At this point I was having surges every 2 minutes. The socks really do it for me though 😂 👌🏻. During my classes, I suggest people pack something to wear at the hospital. Lots of women people prefer to wear their birthday suit but I guess you don’t really know how you will feel until you’re in the moment. The reason I don’t recommend wearing a hospital gown is because you subconsciously go into “patient mode”. And I’m not sure if anyone wore this gown before me🤢 wearing something familiar that smells like home can help you feel comfortable and relaxed. Here are some things I suggest: - Sarong (you can wear nothing underneath and then untie the sarong once bub is born for skin to skin) - Bikini (if you’re using water) - Nightie - Partners T-shirt - Maternity bra and undies Any other suggestions? Come potevo scegliere qualcosa, escludendo tutte le altre cose, se non avevo avuto neanche modo di approfondirle? ⠀ Mi sono spesso sentito come una Ferrari costretta a viaggiare sempre in prima e con la sensazione costante di essere io il problema. Poi, l’altro giorno, sono finito su un video di Emilie Wapnick in cui parlava dei MULTIPOTENZIALI: persone che non hanno un’unica vocazione e che sentono la necessità di spaziare da un settore all’altro. ⠀ “Ma sono proprio io!” e ho iniziato a piangere come un bambino. The truth is you don’t need all this gear. You only need a good laptop & headphones and you’re set to WORK. Getting fancy things is “nice” but they’re just luxury items that’s a want and not a need. So for those who are just starting off their journey: “Get good before you get fancy. This is weird to say, but as of this week I no longer work for Delta Air Lines. I think if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that “planning” our lives isn’t really in our control. Though I had already been considering my next move, I didn’t think this would be the year I decided to leave or “early retire” (but shoutout to Delta for caring about their employees enough to offer a great leave package!) I also didn’t think I would be sad, but I was wrong 😭 This job has seen me through the last 5 years of my life. Yes, the lifestyle can be very lonely. I certainly won’t miss the long commutes and empty hotel rooms. The days spent smiling at strangers who hardly acknowledge you but then need you the very second it is turbulent or they can’t find the door handle to the lavatory (it’s never the ash tray sign btw 🙃). But in those times I think it forced me to be content and truly happy by myself. I learned to love podcasts on my long drives to work, room service and Dateline in my hotel room and exploring new cities with my crews. I’ve seen the love and kindness of complete strangers on my flights and celebrated more birthdays and newlyweds than I can count. This job took me home to see my parents any time I wanted and to friends I didn’t get to see often. It gave me some of the most beautiful backdrops in the world with some pretty incredible friendships along the way. So now I’ll cherish being home in my bed every night, making life a little bit more routine but never taking for granted a Christmas spent on the ground. Without a doubt, Delta is the world’s greatest airline and truly the best company to work for. All the love to Q class 2015, @delta, and all the employees that are going to restore this airline to greatness. Surabaya, Bhirawa Universitas Dr Soetomo (Unitomo) meresmikan Pusat Layanan Kesehatan (PLK) Unitomo. Fasilitas ini nantinya akan diperuntukkan bagi mahasiswa, dosen, pegawai Unitomo juga untuk SMP dan SMA Dr Soetomo. Menurut Rektor Unitomo, Bachrul Amiq, diresmiknnya PLK Unitomo menjadi pelengkap fasilitas kesehatan bagi mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Kesehatan. Layanan ini akan menyediakan dokter umum, layanan kesehatan ibu dan anak, layanan baby spa dan donor darah. “Empat layanan ini yang mendorong kami untuk membuka pusat layanan kesehatan ini. Untuk sementara fasilitas ini hanya bisa dinikmati dari warga Unitomo. Termasuk guru dan siswa SMP, SMA/SMK Dr Soetomo,” ujar dia. Amiq menambahkan, kini pihaknya tengah berupaya untuk menjadikan PLK Unitomo sebagai fasilitas kesehatan tingkat satu. Karena itu pihaknya juga akan menjalin kerjasama dengan BPJS. Agar ke depan juga bisa melayani warga sekitar kampus. Dalam pembukaan PLK ini, Unitomo akan menyediakan dua dokter, enam bidan dan satu tenaga baby spa yang telah bersertifikat. “Layanan ini gratis bagi dosen, pegawai dan mahasiwa. Juga siswa dan guru yang masih di bawah Yayasan Unitomo,” jabarnya. Lebih lanjut, untuk layanan donor darah pihaknya juga tengah mengurus perizinan dan kerjasama dengan PMI. Karena sebelumnya Unitomo sendiri sudah mempunyai teknologi bank darah. Sementara itu, adanya pengembangan layanan kesehatan ini mengacu pada prodi – prodi yang sudah ada seperti Fakuktas Ilmu Kesehatan (Fikes). “Dua tahun lalu kami mempunyai Fakultas Kesehatan, tentu adanya PLK ini selain untuk kebutuhan berprakter bagi mahasiswa juga sebagai pelayanan. Dengan begitu mahasiswa fikes punya laboratorium hidup,” tandasnya. Ditambahkan dr Yustisia Amalia pihaknya akan membuka layanan dasar untuk jam operasional PLK. 𝙇𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙧 & 𝘿𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙊𝙑𝙄𝘿 - My water had just broke as I sat in the hospital waiting area, contemplating not about finally getting to meet my first-born child, but whether I’d be expected to push with my mask on 😷... ... These are unprecedented times, but life goes on (literally!) with an explosion of🤰🏻mamas expecting this year. I thought I’d share my experience with delivering during COVID this past July. 1️⃣ I was required to get tested for COVID 3 days before my scheduled induction. Between then and delivery, I wasn’t allowed to go anywhere except for essential doctor appointments to decrease exposure risk. 2️⃣ My hospital only allowed 1 support person, which meant my mom graciously gave up her spot to my hubby. As her only child, I’m sure this was hard on her. My mom was actually the one who took me to the hospital that day because hubby was still at work when my water broke. We had to plead to the hospital to break protocol to allow her and my husband to switch out once he arrived. 3️⃣ My hospital also had a strict policy that if the support person leaves the hospital for any reason, he/she would not be allowed back. This means no grabbing forgotten things from home. No getting takeout 🥡. On my third day, my hubby actually had to step out to run an important errand. He wasn’t allowed to return, and my mom wasn’t allowed to take his place. Caring for a newborn on my own those 24 hours while barely ambulatory and in pain was not easy. 4️⃣ We were required to wear masks 😷 into the hospital, but once we reached the delivery room, my hubby and I were allowed to remove our masks. Hallelujah! I’ve heard that some hospitals require mom to keep her mask on during active labor, which I just can’t even imagine! ... Yes, there were inconveniences. No, it wasn’t how I would have planned it to be. But overall, I feel so blessed to have had a safe delivery and healthy baby 👶🏻. Thank you to all the nurses and entire healthcare team for keeping us safe. My prayers go out to all the expecting mamas in 2020 🙏🏻 You got this 💪🏻♥️ - @dzeyemd on Instagram

Morphogenesis’ installation titled ‘The Fractal Metropolitan Layer’ presents a hidden opportunity within the Indian capital – the city’s 350-km-long network of nullahs, a historic but neglected water drainage system, and proposes a reclamation of this network to create an alternative and metropolitan system of transport, environmental, and cultural infrastructure. The installation aims to reclaim the derelict, the forgotten, the recyclable and the toxic. It addresses issues such as increased levels of air and noise pollution, depleting groundwater levels, heavy traffic and congestion, lack of proper sewage treatment and disposal methods, land and water crisis. The installation attempts to exploit the underutilized land and recycle it to create sustainable secondary networks through the city. This proposal, could dramatically improve public health in the city and help replenish aquifers, reduce pollution, and address the water crisis. Rachel Zane’s dressing is one of the main main reason I believed one can look stylish even in formal wear. Her dressing is so simple yet so elegant.⠀ .⠀ .⠀ Day 1 - Monotone look in peach brown colour tone. She wears these tee like bodycon tops ( Do they have a particular name? Please let me know ) which looks so smart in a formal attire. I was hesitant initially to try this kinda top because I used to believe I am on a heavier weight side and this top won’t look good on me. But yes I got over it and totally loved it once I bought it. More than a few patients at work have asked me why I have such a big smile on my face. I’m just happy a lot, and it’s tied to running. I’m from a sunny, small town called Lompoc in Southern California. That’s where I started running. The paths are scenic, secluded, serene, and sandy, and they hold countless stories that shaped who I am today. I ran in high school and college and the competition is part of why I got really into the sport. It taught me the power of dedication, hard work, and resilience, some of my most valuable life experiences. However, even when I’m not racing -- which is all the time now during COVID – running continues to be an important part of my day. Running allows me time to reflect. I find joy from many angles in cancer care, and it is one of the reasons I am training to become a radiation oncologist. I want to help people in times of fear and uncertainty, to create and share hope, and to practice daily being the best version of myself. It is a warm environment and reminds me to appreciate everything I have. My patients teach me new things every day, and I process these thoughts when I am running. You are let into a private part of people’s lives and it is an honor to share that part with them. So, I want to bring my best and help others do the same. On the flip side, running can also be the counterbalance to a hard day. Sometimes there are some sad, heavy situations, or it feels like there is simply too much to do and not enough time in the day to do it. You can’t let the overwhelming emotions come home with you. Running helps me reset every day after work, find my center, and move forward with enhanced clarity. If I don’t know what to do, I put on shoes and things get better. Running is an outlet that gives even the hardest of days a sense of progress and helps me stay motivated! At the end of the day, running helps me help others. ¡Hoy mi lugar de trabajo fue el @renjaragua! Fui a probar el nuevo servicio de trabajo remoto -by Marriott- que se llama WORKATION. 👌🏼 Básicamente pagas una tarifa de Day Use, donde te dan acceso a una habitación de 9:00am a 6:00pm, solo para ti. Incluye WIFI, acceso al gimnasio, a la piscina y a las demás áreas del hotel. Les puedo decir que esta modalidad genera mayor productividad y es un escape en la misma ciudad para las personas que estamos trabajando desde la casa, u otros lugares de trabajo remoto. Además de las atenciones, lo mejor fue el NIVEL de cuidado y los protocolos de higiene desde la llegada — hasta la salida, que por cierto me pasé por 7 mins 😂. I want to take this opportunity and thank everyone for the love showered for #Bulbbul. Its very rare to be part of a film wherein every facet of the film is acknowledged and appreciated equally. Thank you @anvita_dee for making me a part of this beautiful film which has ignited so many conversations. One of the many conversations I have had with close friends and family, because there I can speak my mind freely, revolves around patriarchy. One of the major reasons I signed on was that I wanted to see what Satya would bring to the film. At the end of the film, Bulbbul calls out Satya as one of the patriarchs in the film... she tells him, ‘Tum Sab Ek Jaise Ho’. That’s the conversation that’s been happening around me... was Satya patriarchal? What did he really do wrong? Most men around me identify themselves as being like Satya... he’s someone who doesn’t really do things wrong, but still becomes an oppressor/ patriarchal because of the conditioning that most men have. I kept debating with Anvita(Someone i truly vale and respect) about it... Honestly, I kept thinking that Satya was doing everything right, until Anvita said that, ‘Avinash, maybe you need to acknowledge that you are a closet patriarch yourself’. It’s not very easy to accept that... I am still fighting it but I am willing to understand that I may be wrong about it. I am happy that at least people around me are having a conversation about it. When that conversation becomes a public discourse, that’s when things will get interesting and a change will happen. I truly feel that I am a feminist coz i believe in equal opportunities for everyone and the day I can acknowledge that I am actually a closet patriarch is when that shift will happen, at least within me. Can you sense my excitement?! . I’ll be spending Eid in Canada after 5 years and I’m SO excited! . Growing up, eid in Canada was never AS fun compared to those who celebrate in Pakistan or other Muslim countries. We didn’t have the whole “mohol” outside our community. Schools were still open, we still went to work after eid salah, and it seemed like any other day. . But, now that I’m older, I appreciate the simplest and most basic element of celebrating Eid in Canada. And that is - time with family. I can appreciate that now, and enjoy the little traditions like mom’s sawaiyan in the morning, pulao for lunch and baklava in the evening. I can take a nap and wake up carefree like the good old days that I’ve often taken for granted. . What did your eid day look like growing up? Was it festive and busy or more subtle? . .
